Kaley Cuoco, Tom Pelphrey And Others Join Forces To Raise Money For IATSE Members With ‘Love Kills’, A Night Of One-Act Plays By Don Nigro
Image
Exclusive: Kaley Cuoco, Tom Pelphrey, Briana Cuoco, Midori Francis, Rebecca Mozo and Justin Chatwin are set to star in the play Love Kills, a special event that will see all proceeds going towards IATSE members who have been impacted by the strikes.

Based on the one-act plays by Don Nigro, the event will run November 15-18 at the Colony Theater in Burbank.

Kevin Kittle is directing with Cara Christian producing. Justin Huen will be the technical director, with Dana Schwartz serving as stage manager.

The plays explore all the ways that “love can be deadly,” and they are shared like campfire ghost stories; full of suspense and atmosphere, infused with humor and a few winks at the audience. As with most of Nigro’s plays, they are a celebration of storytelling, and hopefully a reminder of the simple magic that can be created with a writer, a couple actors, a few stools,...

Minority Views
Maintaining truthfulness and avoiding stereotypes are the major challenges when playing racial, ethnic, and sexual minorities.Consider the daunting task that Tamer Aziz faces in tackling a character who is gay, Iranian, and Muslim in Jay Paul Deratany's fact-based play "Haram Iran" (now at the Celebration Theatre in Hollywood). Or the issues that black actors deal with in enacting a brutal racist episode within the context of a minstrel show in John Kander and Fred Ebb's musical "The Scottsboro Boys" (currently at New York's Vineyard Theatre). Justin Huen also has his work cut out for him playing Oedipus in Luis Alfaro's play "Oedipus el Rey," a retelling of Sophocles' tragedy set in a Los Angeles barrio (playing the Theatre @ Boston Court in Pasadena, Calif.). Jennifer Lim grapples with a fully assimilated and not very sensitive Asian American in Lauren Yee's satire "Ching Chong Chinaman" (now at New York's...

Bell kicks butt as Angel Of Death; exclusive photos, behind-the-scenes video
Fango spent some time on the set of Angel Of Death and came back with exclusive pics and video (see the former below the cut and the latter at the bottom of the page) from the White Rock Lake Productions series. It premieres today on Sony Pictures Entertainment’s on-line video network Crackle.com, with subsequent episodes airing each weekday through March 13 before the show is released in its entirety to DVD (details to be announced).

Written by comic-book scribe Ed (The Death Of Captain America) Brubaker and directed by Paul Etheredge (last photo) of last year’s Buried Alive, the John Norris-produced series stars Death Proof’s Zoe Bell as ruthless assassin Eve, who, after receiving a hunting knife through her skull following a compromised hit, sets out to avenge her previous victims by killing the mob bosses who ordered their murders. Battlestar Galactica’s Lucy Lawless, Hellboy’s Doug Jones,...

‘Angel of Death’ Review: Early Look At Bad-Ass Zoe Bell
Let me tell you what’s Bad Ass: This show, Zoe Bell, and how I feel when I watch it. Angel of Death, the ten episode web series from creator Ed Brubaker and Sony's Crackle is coming to a computer near you on March 2nd. This gem, about a cold-blooded killer growing a conscience, along with a few other shows I’m starting to see out there, is a whole new level of web series—from storytelling, to production value, to performance. I’m telling you folks, the times they are a changin’. At the moment, the jury is out on Franklin, Eve’s assassin trainee, he just seems a little too ‘naïve’ to be a future assassin, there’s just no darkness to him and I can’t tell if it’s the writing, directing or Justin Huen’s acting, but something here is amiss. And finally there’s Jake Abel as beleaguered mob-boss-to-be,...
