The art of home restoration and preservation is a science, and one to which Brett Waterman has devoted most of his life. Mr. Waterman's long-running series Restored follows him restoring historic homes to their old glory. Having recently moved from HGTV to the Magnolia Network, Restored has just begun season 6, with new episodes airing on Tuesdays.
In season 6 of Restored, Mr. Waterman takes on a variety of home restoration projects, including an American Foursquare home from 1903, a 1900 Victorian cottage, and an 1898 Dutch Colonial, among others. As in the first five seasons, viewers of Restored get to learn a lot about the history and cultural background of each home being restored in season 6.

Chicago – Give Lynn Shelton a few days, a dozen crew members, a picturesque cabin and three terrific actors, and just look at what she’s capable of making. “Your Sister’s Sister” is clearly the work of a filmmaker in full command of her craft. With limited resources and very little time, writer/director Shelton somehow managed to capture a fully realized human drama brimming with richly etched characters and marvelously insightful comedy.
The more one knows about the process of filmmaking, particularly on a shoestring budget, the more one is bound to be impressed by Shelton’s achievement. Though several months of planning preceded the film’s tight production schedule, one of the three stars dropped out before shooting was set to begin. Since roughly ninety-five percent of the film is inhabited solely by these three main characters, the results of this last-minute change could’ve been catastrophic.

HollywoodNews.com: Hooray for Gary Lane and Larry Lane and their wonderful documentary Hollywood to Dollywood which won the Audience Choice Award for Best Documentary and the Directors Choice Award at this year’s Sacramento Music and Film Festival.
The film, directed by John Lavin, has been accepted into 25 film festivals so far – nine of which are non-lgbt festivals. They are in such far-flung places as Edmonton, Canada, Glasgow, Scotland and Melbourne, Australia.
“We are going to as many as we can – even Glasgow Scotand,” Gary tells me. “I know we are speaking to the Lgbt youth of Scotland after the screening. We never in a million years thought the film would put us on this platform to speak, and spread the message of love and acceptance.”
The film was a smash when it screened at La’s Outfest last month (the cast and director are pictured above). If you missed it there,...
