Inside the Mad-Genius Mind of Noah Hawley
Image
When a director arrives at a filming location, they have a lot of important tasks before the real work can begin. Department heads to consult. Actors to be prep. Schedules to lock. When Noah Hawley got to Bangkok to direct the first episode of Alien: Earth, he immediately had to have some suits made.

“One of the first things I did upon landing was go to a tailor and work up, not a full wardrobe, but a way, through linen and cotton, to try to manage the heat, in a...

Celebrity Deathmatch Creator Wants a Revival, Names Which Matches Could Happen in 2025
Image
While many shows from the past have been making comebacks with reboots and revivals, Celebrity Deathmatch is one that still has yet to make a return to the small screen. If you ask creator Eric Fogel, the time is now, as he believes Celebrity Deathmatch could be bigger than ever before in 2025.

Per People, Fogel reflected on creating Celebrity Deathmatch in a new interview, 28 years after he first pitched the series to MTV. He explained how he grew up as a fan of stop-motion animation, particularly Ray Harryhausen movies, along with other claymation TV shows of the era. As an adult, he started to see the potential in doing something with stop-motion animation, but with more of a rough edge.

"As I grew older, I became aware that there was maybe a market for a more adult animated content, and I thought that stop-motion animation in that adult space felt like unmarked territory,...

The One Film Tom Cruise Wishes He Never Made – And How It Changed His Hollywood Destiny Forever
Image
Tom Cruise’s Film That He Still Regrets ( Photo Credit – Instagram )

There’s one movie Tom Cruise wishes he could erase from his filmography—and it’s not the one you’re thinking. Long before Top Gun and Mission: Impossible, the Hollywood superstar found himself in a film so forgettable, even he openly regrets doing it. Losin’ It came early in Tom Cruise’s career. It was an adult comedy meant for teens that landed in 1982. The movie followed a group of boys chasing after the usual coming-of-age plot. The Mission: Impossible star did not like it back then, and the years have not changed his mind. The film did not offer much in the way of substance, and he later admitted it taught him something important: that he never wanted to do that kind of project again.

‘Bones’ Star Emily Deschanel Was a ‘Wreck’ After Being Reprimanded in Season 1 For Being ‘Late and Unprepared’: ‘We Were Working Insane Hours’
Image
Emily Deschanel’s run on “Bones” almost ended in Season 1 instead of Season 12.

In a recent interview on David Duchovny’s “Fail Better” podcast, Deschanel recalled struggling to keep up during the first season of “Bones,” considering the demanding shooting hours and the copious amounts of dialogue she needed to memorize.

“We were working insane hours, longer than just a normal series,” Deschanel said. “You’re working 14- to 16-hour days, and then I had to memorize the lines. So I’d be staying up late night memorizing lines. I would joke that I would go home and just cry in a bathtub every night because I was just so overwhelmed.”

She added, “I’d come to set and I would be trying to remember the lines that…I got no sleep and trying to remember the lines that I had memorized the night before and then I had them...

Emily Deschanel Gets Honest About Bones' Biggest Set Challenges: "I Was Just So Overwhelmed"
Image
The popular crime drama Bones ran for so long that the first season may seem like a distant memory, but its lead star remembers it clearly because it was such a difficult time in her career. Bones follows Dr. Temperance Brennan (Emily Deschanel), who is paired up to work with FBI Special Agent Seeley Booth (David Boreanaz).

The two are tasked with cases where the skills of a forensic anthropologist are needed, as the remains of the victims are often only bones, hence Booth nicknames Brennan "Bones." The two main Bones characters' dynamic became beloved; they are also the stars of an extended will-they-won't-they plot, before the characters get together in Bones season 6.

Series lead Emily Deschanel recently spoke with David Duchovny on his podcast Fail Better and revealed that the first season of Bones was very hard on her, due to long work hours and challenges learning the vocabulary of her character's profession.

Emily Deschanel Reveals Season-One Panic Attacks That Nearly Ended Her “Bones” Run
Emily Deschanel
Emily Deschanel says she came close to losing her lead role on “Bones” after panic attacks and a single late arrival during the show’s first season, speaking on David Duchovny’s “Fail Better” podcast released this week. She recalled the studio labeling her “late and unprepared,” a critique that left her “beside myself” and filled with shame.

Long 14- to 16-hour days, little sleep and dense medical jargon compounded the pressure, especially because she lives with Adhd and dyslexia. Deschanel said she would go home and “cry in a bathtub every night,” unaware the tightness in her chest were panic attacks. A traffic delay that made her 30 minutes late prompted creator Hart Hanson to warn that executives were questioning her professionalism, pushing her to vow never to be late again.

Hanson and co-star David Boreanaz arranged a larger trailer, quieter rehearsal space and a line coach—changes Deschanel credits with restoring her confidence.

Emily Deschanel Recalls Having Panic Attacks During Season 1 Of ‘Bones’ & Feeling “Shame” After Being Reprimanded For Being “Unprepared”
Image
Emily Deschanel recalled struggling emotionally and professionally while filming the first season of Fox’s Bones, to the point where she got a talking-to about her lack of preparedness.

In a recent episode of podcast Fail Better with host David Duchovny, who once directed an episode of the police procedural, Deschanel opened up about the pain point and how her diagnosis of Adhd and dyslexia as a child affected her career later on.

“We were working insane hours, longer than just a normal series,” Deschanel began. “You’re working 14- to 16-hour days, and then I had to memorize the lines. So I’d be staying up late night memorizing lines. I would joke that I would go home and just cry in a bathtub every night because I was just so overwhelmed.”

Amid Bones Revival Rumors, Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz Are Set for a Special Reunion
Image
Bonesstars David Boreanaz and Emily Deschanel are officially reuniting to celebrate the Fox show's 20th anniversary. The duo are leading a special event to mark the occasion for the still-popular procedural.

Per Bleeding Cool, Boreanaz and Deschanel will appear alongside fellow cast members T.J. Thyne, Tamara Taylor and Bones creator Hart Hanson during a special 20th anniversary panel at Televerse in Los Angeles. The event will run from August 14-16, 2025 at the Jw Marriott at L.A. Live, and the panel will feature Hanson and the actors looking back at Bones' twelve seasons.

Bones was based on the life of world-renowned forensic anthropologist and author Kathy Reichs, who served as a producer on the series. It starred Deschanel as Temperance "Bones" Brennan, a fictionalized version of Reichs who worked at the Jeffersonian Institute in Washington D.C., frequently alongside FBI Special Agent Seeley Booth (played by Boreanaz). The series' ensemble...

Name a Prop and ‘The Tonight Show’ Has Put It in the Back of a Taxi to Get It to the Show on Time
Image
There’s something infectiously fun, for both a creative team and for an audience, about the rush of putting together a show at the last minute, but almost nowhere on television is that kind of scrappy, last-minute, late-night energy the intended mode of operation. Almost.

Late night shows, because of their fast turnarounds and breaking news, have to have a little bit of “theater kid” energy built into them, even as they often are planning intricately produced sketches and segments for months in advance at the same time they’re scrambling to find Minecraft toys to throw into a novelty claw machine at the last minute. So it’s a good thing for “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” that it has two production designers with the relentlessly creative instincts and flexible problem-solving skills you get from indie theater.

IndieWire spoke to production designers Kelly Hanson and Heather Wolensky about...

Influencer boxing event Creator Clash looks to move past iDubbbz drama with new venue, date
Image
A month before its scheduled return to the Amalie Arena in Tampa, the Creator Clash has found itself engulfed in YouTube drama. Representatives for the influencer boxing showdown announced a move to Los Angeles and a postponement of its third go-around days after Creator Clash Co-Founder Ian ‘iDubbbz’ Jomha announced that he would step away from the event.

Creator Clash 3 is now slated to take place at the Hollywood Palladium in L.A. on October 25. A new lineup of creator fighters is expected to be announced in July.

The original Creator Clash, which took place in 2022, showcased the intense training and dedication that is required for a proper influencer boxing spectacle. The event was a success, reaching a sold-out live crowd and a 100,000-strong pay-per-view audience while raising money for charity along the way. A 2023 sequel brought more creators into the fun, but issues like content piracy made Creator Clash...

Rob Nilsson
Back on the farm by Paul Risker
Rob Nilsson
John Hanson and Rob Nilsson

In 1979, the Cannes Film Festival awarded the Camera d'Or prize to American directors John Hanson and Rob Nilsson, for their first feature, Northern Lights. The film is a dramatised account of the formation of the populist Nonpartisan League in North Dakota in the mid-1910s, when farmers sought to wrestle power away from industry and political forces. Shot on 16mm film with a cast of non-professional actors, Hanson and Nilsson weave the story of two young lovers on the cusp of marriage into their dramatisation of the real-life events that affected the entire rural farming community.

Henry Martinson in Northern Lights

Following a 4K restoration by IndieCollect and Metropolis Post, with the collaboration of co-directors Hanson and Nilsson, the visually striking Northern Lights will be rereleased by Kino Lorber, helping to ensure a seminal work of 1970s political cinema endures and retains its voice in...

NBC Bringing Back Gold Zone for 2026 Winter Olympics, Scott Hanson to Return as Host
Image
The Gold Zone is returning to Peacock, and Scott Hanson will be back as host.

NBC says that it will bring back Gold Zone for the Milan Cortina winter Olympics next year

NBC Olympics debuted Gold Zone on Peacock during the 2024 Paris Olympics, adopting the whip-around format popularized by NFL RedZone, where Hanson has long been host. The show sees Hanson and the other hosts guiding viewers from event to event, highlighting only the most dramatic moments, thrilling upsets or must-see spectacles. 2026 will be the first time a Winter games edition of Gold Zone is on Peacock.

The Hollywood Reporter went behind the scenes of the show last year.

“Part of my job is tapping the United States on the shoulder and saying: ‘folks, we need your attention right now,’” Hanson told THR at the time. “I need to explain the context of why I’m tapping you on the shoulder,...

AccuRadio Seeks Chapter 11 Protection, Citing Broken Royalty System and SoundExchange Litigation
Isaac Hanson, Taylor Hanson, Zac Hanson, and Hanson
AccuRadio, the oldest surviving brand of personalizable online radio and the leading fully-human-curated music streaming service, sought Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in Chicago today after reaching an impasse in the face of litigation from SoundExchange and a royalty scheme that renders music streaming extremely challenging for all but the largest corporations.

“AccuRadio has spent almost 25 years building an innovative and well-loved music streaming service while facing royalty obligations that climbed to levels that seem to suggest the system is rigged, perhaps inadvertently, against small and midsize streamers,” said AccuRadio CEO Kurt Hanson, who founded the firm back in 2000.

“The Copyright Royalty Board’s rate-setting process leaves small and midsize players out of the process because the extremely high costs of lawyers, expert witnesses, and discovery make participation virtually impossible,” Hanson said.

Inability To Reach Settlement With Soundexchange

“SoundExchange filed a lawsuit against us in mid-2024 that came as a complete surprise...

Vince McMahon’s 1 Decision Was So Bad Triple H Wished It Was Just a Joke

Without a doubt, Vince McMahon is one of the most influential and consequential figures in professional wrestling. His tenure as the head of WWE reshaped the company in numerous ways. However, his leadership was not without controversy. Several decisions made under his reign sparked backlash and disbelief, even among WWE superstars and close associates.

One particularly contentious decision was the rebranding of the acclaimed tag team known as the War Raiders. Composed of powerhouse wrestlers Erik and Ivar, the duo’s name was changed to The Viking Experience upon their arrival in the WWE. The sudden rebranding displeased many, including the team and Triple H, who had championed their original identity and credibility.

Emily Deschanel's Sister Zooey Guest Starred In One Of The Best Bones Episodes
Image
For a show that featured a lot of death, "Bones" sure did have a lot of heart. A series doesn't run for 12 seasons without an effective emotional core, after all, and "Bones" certainly managed to maintain a soft spot, even as Emily Deschanel's Temperance Brennan and David Boreanaz's Agent Seeley Booth inspected some of the most horrific corpses you've ever seen on TV.

One nice behind-the-scenes aspect of the series to offset the ongoing corpse inspections was the fact that the "Bones" cast often included family members of the stars and the show's creator, Hart Hanson. David Boreanaz's father, Dave Roberts, appeared in an uncredited cameo as an FBI agent, while Hanson's own father, Paul, showed up as a vending machine repairman. But it was during one Christmas episode that we got perhaps the most notable family-member appearance in the series.

Yes, even "Bones," with fake cadavers...

Danny Trejo Had A Cameo In A Bones Backdoor Pilot That Spawned A Failed Spin-Off
Image
Hart Hanson's procedural series "Bones" was never a runaway hit for Fox, but thanks to its devoted fan base it had a high Nielsen ratings floor, which made it one of the network's most reliable shows over its 12-year run. Viewers dug its out-there plotlines and, of course, the will-they-or-won't-they chemistry between forensic genius Temperance "Bones" Brennan (Emily Deschanel) and FBI Agent Seeley Booth (David Boreanaz) -- something that spilled over to the supporting players, who struck up romantic sparks of their own (most notably between Michelle Conlin's Angela Montenegro and T.J. Thyne's Jack Hodgins).

Indeed, "Bones" had a deep bench of supporting characters who were immensely appealing, so it's kind of surprising that Hanson and Fox never managed to generate a spinoff series for one or more of them. Surely, they could've taken a chance on one of the series' squinterns? Okay, there was "Bones: Skeleton Crew...

'You're Talking About Me:' Anthony Mackie Reveals How Eminem Made 8 Mile Rap Battle Personal
Image
Anthony Mackie has made a name for himself outside the superhero world, but 2025 came with his first leading solo film, Captain America: Brave New World, where he took the shield as the titular character. However, his first role featured a different face-off.

Mackie made his debut in 2002's 8 Mile, which starred Eminem in the leading role. The musical drama is a semi-autobiographical story, following Eminem's Jimmy "B-Rabbit" Smith, an aspiring rapper who attempts to win a rap contest to find a better life. Mackie played his opponent, Clarence aka Papa Doc, the leader of the Free World group, and revealed during an appearance on the Pivot Podcast that Eminem used his personal details during their rap battle at the end of the film.

8 Mile drew inspiration from Eminem's real life, but the rapper also used information from Anthony Mackie's real life. Around the 12:00 mark, Mackie addressed the film,...

Danny DeVito at an event for Freedom Writers (2007)
L.A. Confidential (1997) Movie Review: A Snapshot of 1950s LAPD in a 1990s Neo-Noir
Danny DeVito at an event for Freedom Writers (2007)
Opening on an idyllic montage of Los Angeles, narrated by Hush Hush Magazine editor Sid Hudgens (Danny DeVito), Curtis Hanson’s L.A. Confidential (1997) paints the picturesque view you’d expect of the city of dreams. The narration twists across the media image of the place, buoyed by the wholesome family values projected by the USA in the 1950s. However, as soon as he can, as he does for most of the narrative, Sid pulls back the layer of this façade and presents the dreary and dangerously corrupt place the City of Angels truly is. The glitz and glamour cover up the element of organized crime running rampant through the city and the LAPD’s inability to contain it despite its reputation as the best police force in the world.

Sid Hudgens ends this narration and his front-page article on the fact that the criminal element has marked a sizeable shift in dynamics,...

Liam Neeson's 'The Marksman' Is Surprisingly Accurate in One Specific Way
Image
While Liam Neeson remains a compelling big-screen presence, Neeson’s action-hero persona has become increasingly derivative over the past decade. The standard Neeson action vehicle has Neeson playing a reluctant avenger or hero who employs a specific set of skills to neutralize his enemies and protect the people whom he cares about. Neeson has now acted within this formula for approximately 15 years, ever since the box-office success of the first Taken film changed the trajectory of Neeson’s career.

This formula is embodied most clearly in the 2021 action film The Marksman, in which Neeson plays a widowed Arizona rancher and former United States Marine Corps sniper who agrees to help a young boy escape a Mexican drug cartel. While The Marksman is mediocre and predictable in virtually every respect, the film is most distinguished in terms of how clearly Neeson’s character’s military sniper training is visible in Neeson’s performance,...

“I’m not interested in playing a wh*re”: Kim Basinger Almost Rejected One of Her Best Roles With Russell Crowe After ‘Batman’ and Bond Girl

Kim Basinger, the acclaimed actress with a career spanning decades, recently revealed why she almost rejected the offer for her sole Oscar-winning role in the 1997 crime drama L.A. Confidential. Having her breakout as a bond girl in Never Say Never Again, Basinger would go on to play several seductive, siren-like characters in films such as 9½ Weeks and Batman.

Kim Basinger Gives Rare Interview on ‘9½ Weeks’ Feud Rumors, Intimacy Coordinators and Why She’s Not Retired: I’m ‘Picky’ and There’s ‘A Lot of Bad Material’
Image
In the mid-’90s, Kim Basinger was newly married to actor Alec Baldwin and had just given birth to their daughter, Ireland, when her William Morris agent sent her the script for “L.A. Confidential.” She was tired of playing the siren roles that had defined her — from a Bond girl in “Never Say Never Again” to a New York gallery owner in the erotic classic “9½ Weeks” to a barefoot Vicki Vale running through the streets of Gotham City in Tim Burton’s 1989 “Batman.”

“I said, ‘Well, I’m not interested in playing a whore. Not doing it. I’m a mom, so I’m not going to play that,’” she recalls.

But her agent persisted, and she agreed to take a 3 p.m. meeting with the late director Curtis Hanson at the Formosa in West Hollywood. The lot was empty, and she drove around mulling the parking spaces...

Bones' Most Controversial Twist Happened Thanks To A Writers' Strike
Image
Though it lasted an impressive 12 seasons, the offbeat Fox procedural thriller "Bones" was never one of television's highest-rated shows. Created by Hart Hanson, the hour-long premiered in the fall of 2005 and didn't find its loyal fan base until it moved to Thursday nights at 8 Pm during its fourth season. By this point, the chemistry between Emily Deschanel's forensics genius Temperance Brennan and David Boreanaz's FBI agent Seeley Booth was crackling, while much of the supporting cast could be deployed in a variety of ways to keep the show from falling into a samey rut. Hanson, the writers, and the casting department had created an embarrassment of riches for "Bones," and thus it would remain until the series concluded its run in 2017.

Getting to the point of that fourth season required a good deal of imaginative plotting that kept viewers on their toes without betraying what they liked about the series and,...

Guy Pearce Gets Choked Up Recalling Troubling Encounters With Kevin Spacey While Filming ‘L.A. Confidential’: “He Targeted Me, No Question”

An emotional and reflective Guy Pearce got choked up during a new interview while recalling unpleasant experiences working with Kevin Spacey on Curtis Hanson’s classic 1997 film L.A. 23 Years Ago, This Captain America: Brave New World Star Made Their Cinematic Debut Alongside One of Hip Hop’s Biggest Stars
Image
Anthony Mackie became one of Hollywood’s hottest stars with his lead role as Captain America in Captain America: Brave New World, which premiered on Feb 14. But Mackie has been part of the Marvel Universe since 2014, when he took on the role of Falcon (Sam Wilson) in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Although Steve Rogers gave him the shield already in Avengers: Endgame (2019), Mackie’s character, Sam Wilson, was unsure about taking on the role. After John Walker briefly became Captain America, Sam ultimately decided to embrace the title by the end of the Disney+ series.

In his 23-year screen career, Mackie has played diverse characters. He portrayed Harry Mitchell, a junior adjustment agent in The Adjustment Bureau (which earned him two award nominations), and Sergeant J.T. Sanborn in The Hurt Locker, for which he won in the “Best Ensemble Cast” category and was nominated as “Best Supporting Actor” at the Independent Spirit Awards.

Every Award Bob Dylan Has Ever Won
Image
Bob Dylan has won a variety of prestigious awards in his lifetime. The iconic songwriter and musician scored his breakout hit with his 1963 sophomore album The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan and is known for songs such as "Like a Rolling Stone," "The Times They Are a-Changin'," and "A Hard Rain's a-Gonna Fall." Some of the most iconic Bob Dylan albums include 1975's Blood on the Tracks and 1997's Time Out of Mind as well as the 1965 albums Bringing It All Back Home and Highway 61 Revisited, for which he initially drew controversy for bringing electric instrumentation into folk music.

Dylan's life has been brought to the screen multiple times in movies including the Martin Scorsese documentary No Direction Home and the experimental Todd Haynes drama I'm Not There, in which Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett, Richard Gere, Heath Ledger, and Marcus Carl Franklin all play different facets of Dylan. Guy Pearce Reveals We Were Very Close to an ‘L.A. Confidential’ Sequel
Image
Guy Pearce, known for his role in L.A. Confidential, recently shared how close the movie came to getting a sequel. Released in 1997 and based on James Ellroy’s novel, the crime drama helped launch the international careers of Australian actors Russell Crowe and Pearce.

The film was a major hit, earning nine Academy Award nominations and winning two, including Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Supporting Actress for Kim Basinger.

In a chat with Business Insider, Pearce explained that around 2007, director Curtis Hanson told him about a sequel idea he had been discussing with Ellroy. Pearce was eager to return as Detective Ed Exley alongside Crowe, and the entire team seemed on board. But Hanson’s health took a turn, and he passed away in 2016.

The sequel concept wasn’t abandoned entirely, though. Plans emerged to set L.A. Confidential 2 in 1974, 21 years after the original story. The late Chadwick Boseman...

When L.A. Confidential Sequel Was Scrapped Recalled By Star Of Original 99% Rt Crime Thriller: "It Was A No-Brainer For Me"
Image
L.A. Confidential star Guy Pearce has recalled how close the critically acclaimed movie came to receiving a sequel. Based on the novel of the same name by James Ellroy, the 1997 crime movie served as one of the first US movies to bring Australian actors Russell Crowe and Pearce to widespread international attention. Generating considerable critical and commercial success, L.A. Confidential would also garner nine Academy Award nominations, ultimately winning Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Supporting Actress for Kim Basinger.

Speaking with Business Insider, Pearce was asked how close L.A. Confidential came to receiving a sequel. Recalling that director Curtis Hanson had called to tell him he was discussing a sequel with Ellroy about 10 years after the movie’s release, Pearce states he was keen to return alongside Crowe with the original movie’s whole team. Describing the project as “a no-brainer,” sadly Hanson would later fall ill...

"I'm Not F--king Flying Back": L.A. Confidential Star Almost Missed Out On Oscar-Winning Movie After Initially Rejecting Second Screen Test
Image
Guy Pearce almost passed on the L.A. Confidential role that would cement his place in Hollywood history. Cast as the straight-laced detective Ed Exley in the neo-noir film, Pearce, whose breakout role in the Australian comedy The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert brought him international attention, delivered a performance that elevated the story of LAPD officers in 1950s Hollywood to an enduring legacy in American crime dramas. Despite his later success with films like Christopher Nolan's Memento, Pearce's path to the role was far from straightforward, marked by a near-rejection of Hollywood altogether.

In an interview with Business Insider, Pearce revealed that he had no interest in pursuing a career in the American film industry before his L.A. Confidential audition. Following the success of Priscilla, he begrudgingly met with a Los Angeles agent who convinced him to audition for various projects. This reluctant journey eventually...

Guy Pearce on ‘The Brutalist’ Shocker, Watching Christopher Nolan Win the Oscar and the ‘L.A. Confidential’ Sequel That Almost Happened
Image
Guy Pearce is having a moment — not that he ever left. “It feels funny when people kind of go: ‘Wow, so you’re back,'” he tells Variety‘s Awards Circuit Podcast. “And I’m like ‘Where did I go? I didn’t go anywhere?”

With a career spanning three decades, Pearce has always been a highly respected character actor, equally convincing as the clean-cut, ambitious detective in “L.A. Confidential” (1997) or the amnesiac unraveling his own mystery in “Memento” (2001). Now, he’s drawing attention once again with a complex and haunting performance in Brady Corbet’s period epic, “The Brutalist.”

But for Pearce, success has always hinged on the material. “I always find the best work I do usually comes when the writing’s really good,” Pearce says during our conversation. “You feel inspired, and you just dance on top of what the writer has created. When the script is there,...

Hinder Drummer: I “Almost Got Beat Up” by Nickelback’s Chad Kroeger
Image
Hinder drummer Cody Hanson has revealed that he “almost got beat up” by Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger.

In a new interview on The Jesea Lee Show, Hanson was asked if he’s had any “super cringey” moments with other bands over the years. Immediately, Hanson thought of a drunken confrontation he had with Kroeger, offering up a story he hadn’t told publicly before.

“In the early days, we were out touring with Nickelback, and we always loved Nickelback growing up, one of our favorite bands,” began Hanson. “We’d kind of become buddies with them. We spent a couple summers recording in Vancouver, one of the summers was at Chad Kroeger’s house, so we kinda knew the guys.”

He continued, “One night … we were sitting outside of a hotel, and it was us and our crew, and Chad and a couple of girls. They...

The One Booth And Brennan Line Bones Wouldn't Cross
Image
"Bones" was never a show that held back when it came to depicting bodies in various states of decay. This was a series that somehow managed to balance a lighthearted banter between its two series leads, FBI agent Seeley Booth (David Boreanez) and forensic anthropologist Temperance "Bones" Brennan (Emily Deschanel), with some of the most horrific cadavers you ever saw on network TV.

There were bodies that upset actors, such as the time Eric Millegan got grossed out, and even a dead body that was so gruesome it went too far for one "Bones" producer in particular. In other words, this was a show that did not feel the need to censor its depiction of death. But that doesn't mean the writers weren't compelled to take a more modest approach to other aspects of the crime procedural.

Take that relationship between Bones and Booth, for example. It took the writers...

The One Thing Emily Deschanel Believes Bones Could Have Explored More On Cable
Image
Hart Hanson's massively popular Fox procedural "Bones" ended its run back in 2017 ... and when it did, star Emily Deschanel weighed in on the one thing she wished the show had done. Namely, Deschanel — who plays the preternaturally brilliant forensic anthropologist Temperance "Bones" Brennan on the show — loves and respects the character she brought to life, but she had hoped that the series could have been more direct about Temperance's likely neurodivergence.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly after the finale "The End in the End" aired, Deschanel said that she was genuinely honored to play a woman crushing it in a male-dominated field. "I loved playing a character who is such a brilliant female in science who is also not shy about telling people about her brilliance, that has so many different ways of living her life," Deschanel said. "She's not set by certain mores of our culture,...

The Reason Your Agent Isn’t Calling You Back? Pickleball

If you happened to be passing through Calabasas and heard a loud “twocking” sound, we can explain. On Nov. 16, a slew of Hollywood’s most powerful players (and, in this case, we’re using the word literally) assembled on the courts of the Calabasas Pickleball Club for the Entertainment Pickleball League’s championship tourney. Although they began just a few months ago, Epl’s games are quickly shaping up to be Hollywood’s biggest draw this side of the Academy Gala, with agents and execs from just about every entertainment company forming squads — most with pun-filled names like Disney’s Monster Dinks, NBCUni’s Dis-Pickleball Me and CAA’s Dill Makers — to participate. “We started with four teams,” says Zee Batal, the TV producer who launched the league in late

September with reality TV showrunner Erica Hanson. “Now we have eight.

Cain’s Ballroom Was the Home of Bob Wills. It’s Now Ground Zero for Red Dirt Music

By any measure, Cain’s Ballroom should be too small for Charley Crockett.

But on a sweltering August night — when the Oklahoma heat and humidity gave the air conditioning system of Tulsa’s timeless honky-tonk a battle for the ages — Crockett didn’t get caught up with the size of the venue. He looked back at the sold-out dance hall, with all its history, and let himself get caught in the moment.

“Cain’s Ballroom, the home of Bob Wills!” Crockett cheered from center stage. “I kind of got lost there,...

One Of The Most Important Bones Scenes Was Improvised
Image
12 years is a long time to keep a TV marriage going, yet that's precisely what David Boreanaz and Emily Deschanel managed to do on "Bones." Granted, their on-screen counterparts, Dr. Temperance "Bones" Brennan and FBI Special Agent Seeley Booth, weren't literally married the entire time (they didn't tie the knot until season 9), but for all practical purposes, they might as well have been. The two actors were also instrumental in ensuring that "Bones" was more of a character-driven procedural than Fox initially had in mind, even taking extra time to work with an actor coach on refining their chemistry. Indeed, it's difficult to imagine the show would've had anywhere near the longevity it achieved had its stars and creator Hart Hanson been content to merely xerox "The X-Files" like the network had wanted.

Even with that, though, the series had a hard fight to make it to 12 seasons. Whether it...

Bones: What The Number 447 Really Means
Image
Fans of the popular procedural series "Bones" know that, throughout the series, the number 447 just kept popping up over and over and over again. Whether it appears as a time on clocks, room numbers, or just in the background of a scene — a trend that started in earnest in the show's fourth season — 447 is as important to "Bones" as "the numbers" were to "Lost." But what do they mean? Well, in the show's 12th and final season, the Jeffersonian Institute — where Temperance "Bones" Brennan (Emily Deschanel) and her team work as forensic scientists and anthropologists to solve cold cases alongside FBI agent Seeley Booth (David Boreanaz) — blows up, and in the "Bones" series finale "The End in the End," the show reveals that the explosion took place at 4:47.

"We came up with [our take] pretty near the beginning of the season," showrunner Michael Peterson told TVInsider after the finale aired in...
