The soundtrack for “We Were Liars” transports viewers into the breezy New England where secrets hide in every corner of the Sinclair estate.

Centering on the mystery of how eldest grandchild and heir to the Sinclair fortune, Cadence Sinclair, was left for dead the previous summer, “We Were Liars” straddles two pivotal summers for Cadence, with one filled with lively summer parties to the tune of “Numb” by Marshmello & Khalid or “Young Dumb” by Noisy, while the other takes a more somber outlook with the help of Hozier.

Billy Idol launched his 2025 North American tour with Joan Jett and the Blackhearts on Wednesday (April 30th) at Talking Stick Resort Amphitheatre in Phoenix.

The outing, dubbed “It’s a Nice Day To…Tour Again!,” is running in two legs, with the first one scheduled through a May 23rd show in Toronto. A second leg will launch August 16th in Philadelphia, and wrap up September 25th in Los Angeles. Tickets to both legs are available here.

Eligible Hall of Fame voting members will have until midnight Et on December 22 to turn in ballots, with their choices of up to three nominees in each of the songwriter and performing songwriter categories. The winning nominees will be inducted at the 2025 Induction & Awards Gala in New York City.

A total of six inductees will be chosen: three from the songwriters category, and three from the performing songwriters category. They’ll be honored during a ceremony held in New York City in June 2025.

Artists become eligible for induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame 20 years after their first significant commercial release of a song.

Last year’s Songwriters Hall of Fame inductees included R.E.M., Steely Dan, Timbaland, and Dean Pitchford. During the induction ceremony, R.E.M.’s Michael Stipe, Mike Mills, Peter Buck, and Bill Berry reunited for their first performance together in 15 years.

Eminem is one of several performing songwriters nominated for the prestigious honor, along with Janet Jackson, Alanis Morissette, N.W.A., Sheryl Crow, George Clinton, Bryan Adams, Mike Love, Boy George, Steve Winwood, Doobie Brothers, David Gates and Tommy James.

Cook’s PC Music label openly embraced synthetic sounds and consumerist aesthetics. The title of Cook’s third album, Britpop, places these two movements in conversation with one another.

Abrams has at least gifted us with a teaser trailer for something called 10 Cloverfield Drive, which the Star Wars: The Force Awakens director calls a “blood relative” to the hit found-footage Sci-Fi thriller. Being cagey as usual, Abrams told Collider.com, “The idea came up a long time ago during production. We wanted to make it a blood relative of Cloverfield. The idea was developed over time. The 2015 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony won't air on HBO until May 30th, but the network has unveiled an extended trailer from the all-star event. This year's ceremony, held on April 18th, honored Green Day, Ringo Starr, Lou Reed, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble, the Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Bill Withers and the "5" Royales.

As I mentioned in its introduction, my Steely Dan appreciation last week stemmed from an email exchange with several other people. And my article was not the last word by a long shot. Patrick Carney doesn't have a love that keeps him waiting. The Black Keys' drummer tied the knot with Emily Ward on Saturday at their Nashville home in front of about 350 family members and friends, including Carney's fellow Key Dan Auerbach, a rep for the band confirms to E! Back in 1998, at the Ifp Film Market, Thomas Ethan Harris, then the director of the Los Angeles Independent Film Festival, strongly recommended an unknown film called Aberdeen.  I followed his advice and was startled.  Where most of the market films were by-the-book attempts to replicate commercial formulas, Aberdeen was a distinctive comic vision that followed none of the rules and managed to weave together wild abstraction and documentary observation as if it were the most natural thing in the world.

I assumed I'd hear about Aberdeen soon, but I never did.  I don't know what adventures the film had after the Ifp market, but it never received a public screening, and no one but me (and the vigilant Mr. Harris, whom I never saw again) seemed to know anything about it.  Good films often fall through the cracks, but this was an extreme case.

Val Kilmer is set to play another music great in a biopic about "Crimson & Clover" hitmaker Tommy James. The actor, who played Jim Morrison in Oliver Stone's "The Doors", is in talks to portray James in a new film based on the singer's autobiography, "Me, The Mob And The Music".

In an interview aired on BlogTalkRadio on Friday, March 12, James claims his producer partners are keen to make a start on the film about his amazing life - and are hoping to release it by the end of 2011. He says, "We'll be making a major announcement in about three weeks."

“Sopranos” creator David Chase is making his directorial debut on an untitled feature film, and it’s not about the Mafia.

According to Deadline, he’s planning a late summer/early fall start date for his first film based on a script he wrote. It’s a drama about “a bunch of guys who form a rock back in the 60’s.” Chase once worked as a drummer in several bands during the 60’s and had aspirations of becoming a professional musician.

It’s unclear what the story is based on, but a few speculated in the comments section of that website that it could be a Tommy James story titled “Me, the Mob, and the Music,” which would at least return Chase partially to the world of organized crime. Unless one of them is Tony Soprano, it is still a bit of a let down for fans of the HBO series,...

The Cannery Casiono group here in Las Vegas knows its audience. Hence, entertainment at its three casinos ? The Cannery, the Eastside Cannery and the Rampart ? caters to that audience. They are mostly locals and, according to Entertainment Director Kathy Spehar, "they are mostly Baby Boomers" who, apparently enjoy the likes of Felix Cavaliere's Rascals (note: they are no longer billed as the "Young" Rascals), Tommy James & The Shondells, Little Anthony and the Imperials and this afternoon at 4 pm, Petula Clark at the Rampart Casino.

A music video to support Prince's new single "Crimson and Clover" has been made available to watch. It mostly captures several women in silhouette while they are dancing to the beat of the song.

"Crimson and Clover" is included in Prince's three-disc album "LOtUSFLOW3R", which has been in stores since March. The track actually is a cover version of Tommy James & the Shondells' 1960s hit single of the same name.

"LOtUSFLOW3R" itself is Prince's twenty fifth studio record and a follow up to his 2007 effort "Planet Earth". The album's first disc titled "LOTUSFLOW3R" contains psychedelic, soul, rock materials, while the second one called "MPLSoUND" carries Funk, R&B songs. As for the last disc, it is a collaborative collection between Prince and his protege Bria Valente and is entitled "Elixer".
