BBC Holds Talks Over Long-Gestating Ozzy Osbourne Documentary After Rock Icon’s Death
Image
Exclusive: The BBC is locked in conversations over the future of a long-gestating documentary series about the Osbourne family following the death of Ozzy on Tuesday.

The BBC greenlit Home to Roost in 2022, a 10-part series following Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne as they returned to the UK from Los Angeles with the help of their children, Kelly and Jack.

The show was conceived as a spiritual (but not official) successor to The Osbournes, the anarchic fly-on-the-wall series that aired on MTV between 2002 and 2005.

Three years on from the BBC’s greenlight, however, Home to Roost has yet to premiere, despite producer Expectation having filmed with the family for a number of months.

Fremantle will sell outside the UK as the show gets set to launch on the BBC in the coming weeks. The producer-distributor’s international senior acquisitions boss Céire Clark described Hell Jumper as a “remarkable tale of resilience.”

“We’re looking forward to sharing this extraordinary and heart-wrenching story,...

View Guy: Tom Payne
Tom Payne is done acting like a teenager. As the Essex, England–born actor pointedly puts it, “I’m 26, and I’m finally getting to play characters in their early twenties.” After a small but attention-grabbing role in Bharat Nalluri’s 2008 romantic comedy Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day, Payne has now been given the opportunity to slip into some adult-size boots. He was recently selected by director Colin Barr to play soccer legend George Best, the 1960s Manchester United superstar who was a notorious party animal and his era’s David Beckham, for a forthcoming BBC biopic. The dashing British actor has the same dark eyes and slender frame as the wing wizard Best, but says the similarities end when it comes to the soccer field: “I recently played my first game since school,” Payne recounts. “After 15 minutes I was knackered. It was all actors, so anytime someone fell...

'10 Days to War' opens Cologne Conference
Kenneth Branagh
Cologne, Germany -- The Cologne Conference, Germany's largest TV festival/confab, kicked off Wednesday night with a gala screening of the BBC's "10 Days to War," an award-winning docudrama on the countdown to the 2003 invasion of Iraq.

The film's mix of hard fact with dramatic technique, its unique format -- with eight stand-alone episodes of 12 minutes each -- and its impressive cast, which includes Kenneth Branagh, Stephen Rea and Juliet Stevenson, were some of the topics covered in an exclusive Q&A between "10 Days" producer Colin Barr, director Bruce Goodison and The Hollywood Reporter editor Elizabeth Guider.

Barr detailed the phenomenal speed at which the production was made -- five months from pitching the original idea to the finished series.

Financing came through after Branagh agreed to play Col. Tim Collins, an Irish commander who gives his men a "tread softly" speech on the eve of the invasion.

"The speech was...
