Paramount Global Layoffs: Paramount TV Studios Combines Development & Current, Other Senior Executives Impacted

Exclusive Updated with more names, refresh for latest: Details are starting to emerge about the major round of layoffs Tuesday at Paramount Global impacting about 800 employees in the U.S.

Headed into today’s reductions, there had been chatter about Paramount TV Studios possibly downsizing. The studio, led by Nicole Clemens, has remained independent from the larger CBS Studios as the two combined support operations in November 2022 by centralizing finance, law, production and casting.

Paramount TV Studios, which absorbed Paramount+’s scripted originals team in 2022, is now streamlining its programming operations by consolidating development and current under Head of Development Jana Helman, who will continue to report to studio president Clemens.

Leaving are Cheryl Bosnak, Ptvs’s EVP and Head of Current; Kate Gill, SVP Development; Julie Katchen, VP of Current; and Devin Crossfield, Manager, Development.

Nickelodeon’s Liz Paulson is taking on a bigger role at Kids & Family. Paulson, who currently oversees animation casting and talent development, is adding live-action casting and talent for Nickelodeon and Studio content for third-party platforms, to her purview. The move is part of Nick’s consolidation of its Animation and Live-Action casting and talent under one team, spanning talent development and current series productions, movies and Studio content. Based in Nickelodeon’s Animation Studio in Burbank, CA, Paulson reports to President of Animation Ramsey Naito for animation talent/casting; and to Brian Robbins, ViacomCBS Kids & Family Entertainment President, for live-action talent/casting.

The Rugrats are crawling back to television just ahead of Memorial Day Weekend.

Paramount+ has set a Thursday, May 27 premiere date for the Nicktoon’s CG-animated revival. The date was confirmed in a sizzle reel for the recently rebranded streaming service (fka CBS All Access), which features new footage of Tommy Pickles and his menacing cousin Angelica.

Nickelodeon is filling out the “Rugrats” voice cast for its grown-ups.

Joining the upcoming revival will be: Ashley Spillers and Tommy Dewey as Tommy’s parents; Tony Hale as Chuckie’s father; Natalie Morales as Phil and Lil’s mother; Anna Chlumsky and Timothy Simons as Angelica’s parents; Nicole Byer and Omar Miller as Susie’s parents; and Michael McKean as Grandpa Lou Pickles.

The series will premiere this spring on Paramount+.

The CG-animated series returns the original voice cast for the children: E.G. Daily reprise her role as Tommy Pickles alongside Nancy Cartwright as Chuckie Finster, Cheryl Chase as Angelica Pickles, Cree Summer as Susie Carmichael and Kath Soucie as Phil and Lil DeVille.
