Pantera Postpone and Cancel Tour Dates to Grieve Loss of Ozzy Osbourne
Image
Pantera have announced that they are rescheduling two shows and canceling three others as they pause their summer US tour to mourn the passing of Ozzy Osbourne.

The band did play four concerts after Ozzy’s passing on Tuesday (July 22nd), including that night in Cincinnati, where they dedicated their cover of Black Sabbath’s “Planet Caravan” to the metal icon, as well as gigs in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio (July 23rd), Hershey, Pennsylvania (July 25th), and Wantagh, New York (July 26th).

However, prior to the Pennsylvania concert on Friday (July 25th), Pantera announced that they were postponing shows scheduled for this Monday (July 28th) in Saratoga Springs, New York, and Thursday (July 31st) in Holmdel, New Jersey to September 9th and September 8th, respectively. They also outright canceled their Tuesday (July 29th) show in Gilford, New Hanpshire, as well as two gigs affected by the rescheduled dates: September 8th in Birmingham,...

Pantera, Primus, Ghost Pay Tribute to Ozzy During Their Respective Concerts: Watch
Image
A bevy of bands who are currently on tour paid tribute to the late Ozzy Osbourne during their Tuesday (July 22nd) gigs, including some of his fellow rockers: Pantera, Primus, and Ghost.

Pantera have been covering Black Sabbath’s “Planet Caravan” for years, having famously included a studio version on 1994’s Far Beyond Driven. Their performance of the song on Tuesday night in Cincinnati was particularly somber and spine-chilling, however, as the band played an accompanying tribute video to Ozzy on the big screen, featuring pics from throughout late singer’s life.

As for Primus, the band didn’t have an immediate Sabbath/Ozzy song in their back pocket — although they famously covered Sabbath’s “N.I.B.” with Ozzy back in 2000 — but Les Claypool and company did sprinkle in bits and pieces throughout their set in Bridgeport, Connecticut. A tease of Black Sabbath’s “Iron Man” could be heard...

Produced by Mercury Studios, the release has been described as a “distilled version” of the marathon event that featured performances from Mastodon, Alice in Chains, Guns N’ Roses, Metallica, Rival Sons, Anthrax, Tool, and more over the course of 10 hours. The highlights of the day,...

Jason Momoa joins mosh pit at Black Sabbath's final gig
Image
Jason Momoa, star of Game of Thrones, Dune, A Minecraft Movie and much more, hosted the "Back to the Beginning" heavy metal festival this past weekend in Birmingham, England. The festival was a big deal, since it marked the final time that the original members of Black Sabbath — Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Bill Ward and Geezer Butler — would appear onstage together. Bands like Metallica, Slayer, Guns N' Roses, Gojira, Alice in Chains, Halestorm, Lamb of God, Anthrax, Mastodon, and Pantera all showed up to honor Black Sabbath.

For a metalhead like Momoa, it was a dream come true. Originally, he just wanted to attend the concert, but then Ozzy's wife Sharon Osbourne reached out and offered him the hosting gig. "I'm over here begging for a ticket and now they want me to host it!" he told Kerrang! "I've never hosted anything before but I've gotta go out in front...

If a meteor were to strike Villa Park in Birmingham, England, on Saturday, that’d be the end of hard rock and heavy metal as many know it. On July 5, in that venue, the original four-man lineup of Black Sabbath will be performing their “Back to the Beginning” farewell show with a stunning lineup of guests: Members of Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Slayer, Pantera, Tool, Anthrax, Alice in Chains, Mastodon, and Rival Sons, along with Billy Corgan, Fred Durst, Jonathan Davis, Steven Tyler, Sammy Hagar, Tom Morello, and way too...

The Violent Hour (Carla Harvey & Charlie Benante) Set July Release for Debut EP
Image
The Violent Hour — the new project featuring Carla Harvey and Charlie Benante — have announced a July 25th release date for their self-titled debut EP.

Harvey penned all the lyrics and handled vocals on the five-song EP, while Benante composed the music and performed all the instruments, save for a few guest appearances. John 5 and Zakk Wylde lent their guitar skills to previously released singles “Sick Ones” and “Hell or Hollywood,” respectively, while Crobot frontman Brandon Yeagley provided guest vocals on the yet-to-be-released track “Portland, Oregon.”

“Writing this EP was a liberating experience,” stated Harvey. “When I started, I felt lost…but by the time I sang the last note, I had found myself again. From the beginning, I wanted the music to come out organically: no agenda, just whatever needed to be released. I’ve been immersed in a world of guttural screaming for so long, but when I...

Metallica’s “Black Album” Certified 20-Times Platinum
Image
Metallica’s 1991 self-titled fifth studio LP, better known as “The Black Album,” has been certified a whopping 20-times platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), strengthening its long-standing status as the biggest-selling album of any genre in the Soundscan/Luminate era.

The new certification, marking 20 million copies moved in the United States alone, represents a massive jump from the LP’s previous certification, 16-times platinum, in 2012. “The Black Album” continues to sell consistently 34 years after its arrival, as a constant presence on the weekly Billboard 200 chart.

Upon its release in 1991, “The Black Album” propelled Metallica from metal heroes to rock superstars, with such classics as “Enter Sandman,” “The Unforgiven,” “Nothing Else Matters,” “Wherever I May Roam,” and “Sad But True.” It has now spent 789 non-consecutive weeks on the Billboard 200, the fourth most overall of any album.

The Underrated 1995 Horror Comedy You Need To Watch After Sinners
Image
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

One of the most anticipated horror movies of the year (if not one of the most anticipated movies of any kind) has arrived in the form of "Sinners." Directed by Ryan Coogler, of "Black Panther" fame, reuniting with "Creed" star Michael B. Jordan, this big-budget vampire flick is, to put it mildly, a big deal. In no small part because it has earned rave reviews thus far.

Coogler's latest takes place in the 1930s and centers on a pair of twin brothers (played by Jordan) who are trying to leave their troubled lives behind by returning to their hometown to start a juke joint. Unfortunately, things go awry when vampires turn up to throw a wrench in the gears. Horror ensues. "Sinners" is inspired by the classic anthology series "The Twilight Zone," at least in part. That being the case,...

'Den of Thieves 2: Pantera' Knocks on the Door of a Major Milestone
Image
Den of Thieves 2: Pantera has built upon the positive reaction to the first adventure, although it still hasn't quite matched the $80 million box office total of its predecessor. Nevertheless, the sequel has thus far earned just shy of $50 million globally, with that huge milestone expected to be hit within the next couple of days despite the film being made available on digital streaming. Given the second film's reported $40 million budget, the upcoming milestone will mark a positive step in Pantera's journey to becoming a financial success.

The Shitheads: Dave Franco, O’Shea Jackson Jr., and Peter Dinklage to star in an unhinged, drug-fueled road trip comedy
Image
Oh, boy! The profanity watchdogs of social media will love the title of the upcoming comedy The Shitheads, starring Dave Franco, O’Shea Jackson Jr., and Peter Dinklage. The unhinged comedy project hails from Macon Blair, who recently partnered with Dinklage for The Toxic Avenger reboot, which is coming to theaters this August. The Shitheads is a hot-ticket item at next week’s EFM (European Film Market) in Berlin, with multiple studios interested in the upcoming road trip film with a starry ensemble.

According to Deadline‘s exclusive report, The Shitheads “follows cynical degenerate Mark (Franco) and bumbling idealist Davis (Jackson) as they’ve both hit rock bottom. Paired for a job by a shady transport service, their task seems simple: transport Sheridan, a wealthy troubled teen, to rehab. But Sheridan has other plans and what starts as a simple road trip becomes an unhinged odyssey of drug-fueled disasters, near-death experiences,...

‘Den of Thieves 3’ Moving Forward with Gerard Butler
Image
Lionsgate is returning to the thieve’s den. The studio is moving forward with a third Den of Thieves movie, with the decision coming swiftly after the release of Den of Thieves 2: Pantera, which has grossed $32 million domestically and hit PVOD Tuesday.

Gerard Butler is expected to return to star and produce via his G-Base banner, which he runs with Alan Siegel. Tucker Tooley Entertainment will produce the next installment in the action-heist franchise as well, after financing and producing the first film and bringing it to Lionsgate and STX. Tucker Tooley will also produce.

The first Den of Thieves, released in 2018, was a modest hit, earning $80 million on a $30 million budget, but it grew in popularity on the home entertainment market. Still, the disruptions of the coronavirus pandemic, Russian’s invasion of Ukraine and a physical issue from Butler led to seven-year gap between the first and second installments.

'Den of Thieves 2: Pantera' Hits Digital Stores on January 28
Image
Den of Thieves 2: Pantera is headed home, less than a month from its theatrical debut. The action-packed sequel starring Gerard Butler and O'Shea Jackson Jr. as unlikely partners-in-crime managed to make a splash at the box office earlier this year. However, it seems the studio wants to put the acclaimed thriller in digital stores sooner rather than later, before it faces stiff competition in theaters next month with Captain America: Brave New World and Companion, among many other titles.

In a surprising announcement, Den of Thieves 2: Pantera confirmed on social media that the film will be available for purchase or rent on digital platforms starting Jan. 28. The sequel, which has a fresh 61% score on Rotten Tomatoes, impressed both critics and audiences alike, with many putting it above the original 2018 film. As of right now, it's unclear when or where Pantera will be made available on a streaming service.

Den Of Thieves 2 Worldwide Box Office: Gerard Butler’s Film Hits A Significant Milestone, Despite Facing Multiple Biggies!
Image
Den Of Thieves 2 Worldwide Box Office: 2nd Thursday Update ( Photo Credit – Instagram )

Den of Thieves 2: Pantera is currently the highest-grossing film of 2025. The film features Gerard Butler and O’Shea Jackson in the lead roles, reprising their characters from the previous film. The movie has crossed a significant milestone at the worldwide box office and is around $4 million away from recovering its reported budget. Keep scrolling for the deets.

For the uninitiated, it is the sequel to the 2018 heist film Den of Thieves, both of which were directed by Christian Gudegast. The sequel is inspired by the 2003 Antwerp diamond heist, which featured Evin Ahmad, Salvatore Esposito, Meadow Williams, Swen Temmel, and Michael Bisping in supporting roles.

Den of Thieves 2 has a decent score on Rotten Tomatoes. The critics gave it 60%, and the collective consensus states, “Pantera trades the original Den of Thieves’ self-seriousness for a more winking lightheartedness that...

Den Of Thieves 2 Already Solved A Problem Many Other Action Crime Franchises Have
Image
Warning! Spoilers ahead for Den of Thieves 2: Pantera

A common plot problem that tends to arise in action crime franchises was brilliantly solved by an important scene in Den of Thieves 2: Pantera. Christian Gudegast's 2025 sequel saw the return of O'Shea Jackson Jr.'s Donnie Wilson and Gerard Butler's "Big Nick" O'Brien, this time aligned on the same side of a robbery of the ultra-secure World Diamond Center. As an Lasd detective, Nick's defection to join Donnie and the gang of international thieves known as the Panthers is surprising, but with alimony piling up, it makes sense he'd want in on a big score.

Nick's interest in the financial gains of a massive heist raises a question broached by many action crime franchises: why keep stealing if you're already rich from getting away with the first score? Theoretically, when characters make off with millions of dollars, the...

Gerard Butler, Evin Ahmad, and O'Shea Jackson Jr. in Den of Thieves: Pantera (2025)
Den Of Thieves 3 is ‘ready to go’, more Gerard Butler imminent
Gerard Butler, Evin Ahmad, and O'Shea Jackson Jr. in Den of Thieves: Pantera (2025)
As Den Of Thieves 2: Pantera hits cinemas in the US, the film’s director has revealed that a third film is further along than anybody realised.

While Michael Mann is still figuring out how to make Heat 2 some 30 years after the original, the team behind Den Of Thieves, the Heat-inspired 2018 cop heist drama, is moving a lot faster. Den Of Thieves 2: Pantera has already debuted in the US with a UK release coming soon from Signature. We’re still awaiting official release details, but we know it’s coming over here.

In the US? It’s already a solid hit. Adding a fancy-sounding Spanish word to the title’s suffix seems to have done the film’s release no harm at all. It topped the US box office in its opening weekend, drew in a tidy $15m, and has been picking up decent reviews.

While it’s...

"It Was A Nightmare & I Was A Whiny Little B-tch": Gerard Butler Explains Why Filming His New Movie Was So Difficult
Image
Gerard Butleris no stranger to action movies. Though his first movie was a period piece, playing Archie Brown in Mrs. Brown (1997), his career has often included high-octane genre movies. After performing in Mrs. Brown, he went on to play a supporting role in the Pierce Brosnan Bond movie Tomorrow Never Dies, making his first foray into the action genre. Butler then revisited genre movies the next year with his adventure fantasy Tale of the Mummy, which was released in 1998. He would return to them time again throughout his career.

Fast-forward over 20 years, and Butler is still regularly involved in action movies. These range from disaster movies, including Geostorm (2017) and Greenland (2020), to the action thrillers Kandahar (2023) and Last Seen Alive (2022). Though he has been in many one-off movies, Butler has also made his way into franchises. This includes the DreamWorks animated franchise How to Train Your Dragon and the Has Fallen series.

Den Of Thieves 3: Will It Happen? Everything We Know
Image
Warning! This Post Contains Spoilers For Den of Thieves 2: Pantera

More than six years after the debut of the first film, Den of Thieves 2: Pantera hit theaters to great fanfare, but will Big Nick return in Den of Thieves 3. The action crime franchise began with the 2018 eponymous film, which follows Gerard Butler's "Big" Nick O'Brien, who runs the LAPD's elite Major Crimes Unit as he tries to bring down a notorious gang. The original action epic led directly into a sequel, and Pantera followed in 2025. The sequel sees Nick switch sides and assist his old foe Donnie (O'Shea Jackson Jr.) in a multi-million-dollar diamond heist.

While hardly the most groundbreaking cinema of all time, Den of Thieves got the attention of audiences and delivered a modest box office return against a relatively small budget compared to other Hollywood action flicks (via Box Office Mojo). This made a sequel seem inevitable,...

Nick's Plan In Den Of Thieves 2 Explained: Every Twist & What It Means For The Future
Image
Warning: Contains Spoilers for Den of Thieves 2: Pantera!Gerard Butler's "Big Nick" O'Brien returns with a twist in Den of Thieves 2: Pantera, and his plan with Donnie (O'Shea Jackson Jr.) is filled with surprising developments until the film's conclusion. Years after Den of Thieves' ending, Nick's life is not in the best spot when the sequel begins. He's been officially divorced and is struggling professionally, as he can't let go of the fact that Donnie outsmarted him and the entire federal community. That makes finding Donnie and finally arresting him Nick's primary mission from the time that Den of Thieves 2 begins.

The set up for another cat-and-mouse style game between Nick and Donnie is subverted throughout Den of Thieves 2, as the characters go from enemies to partners with what seems to be a blossoming friendship. However, considering the Donnie-related reveals that changed the...

‘Den of Thieves 2: Pantera’ Is Not the Pulp Fiction You’re Looking For
Image
There’s an entire subgenre of modern crime movies you might call “Heat Rashes” — those heist thrillers that worship at the altar of Michael Mann’s 1995 stone-cold classic. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and the best and most admiring of these Mann-handlers is, by a huge margin, 2018’s Den of Thieves. In the De Niro corner, you’ve got Pablo Schreiber as the leader of a bank-robbery crew who’s dreaming the impossible dream: ripping off the Federal Reserve in Los Angeles. Taking on the Pacino role, Gerard Butler...

Den Of Thieves 2: Pantera Review - Gerard Butler's Tame Sequel Is A Missed Opportunity For A Thrilling Heist Film
Image
I remember when heist movies had memorable characters and scenarios. Den of Thieves certainly didn’t and its only slightly better follow-up, Den of Thieves 2: Pantera, tries at the very least, though its efforts ultimately fall flat. The film has less action, which isn’t a bad thing since it builds up suspense for the actual heist and its aftermath, and more talking. Whereas the first film was more gritty and violent, the sequel is more polished and developed. But it’s also the same amount of underwhelming, failing to fully launch despite an intriguing setup.

Sheriff "Big Nick" O'Brien tracks Donnie Wilson to Europe after his daring escape. As Donnie becomes deeply involved with diamond thieves and the Panther mafia, the stakes rise with a plan to rob the world's largest diamond exchange. The film promises intense action and suspense across international borders.

Den of Thieves 2: Pantera Review: A Heist Thriller That Would Make Jean-Pierre Melville Proud
Image
Ah, what a relief after the year-end self-importance of The Brutalist and Nosferatu to have some good January pulp in our filmgoing lives again. Seven years in the making, Den of Thieves 2: Pantera finally brings us back into the world of weary, hard-drinking cop Big Nick (Gerard Butler) and aspirant master-thief Donnie (O’Shea Jackson Jr.). A film that even its biggest fans gave the backhanded compliment of “douchebag Heat,” the original Den of Thieves strangely endured––if partly due to a mixture of ambition and sleaze, almost like the grizzled anti-heroes at its center.

The previous film ended with a bloody, foiled Los Angeles heist leaving Nick on the trail of Donnie, who had fled to London after being revealed as something of a secret criminal mastermind. The sequel opens on an airplane-diamond heist in Antwerp, Donnie now part of a highly skilled, mostly Slavic team of thieves called The Panthers.

‘Den of Thieves 2: Pantera’ Review: Gerard Butler, the King of the January Box Office, Elevates His Blasted-Cop-Meets-Heist Movie Into a Franchise
Image
As a movie star, Gerard Butler owns January the way Will Smith once owned Memorial Day and the “Meg” films own August. That Butler’s B-movie thrillers now hold sway over the frozen, box-office-lite oblivion of the early weeks of the year may seem a Pyrrhic victory, but at least he’s the king of something. And Butler’s brusque, beady-eyed, scowling-hulk charisma has aged well. A quick-fire actor in a caveman’s body, he has the ability to lift a piece of pulp so it almost seems like a real movie.

For much of its two-hour-and-24-minute running time, “Den of Thieves 2: Pantera,” the sequel to Butler‘s cops-vs.-crooks heist thriller from 2018, does a satisfying impersonation of a high-end crime film. If you want to know what makes Butler a commanding genre bruiser, look no further than the way he smokes on camera, dragging on a cigarette...

‘Den of Thieves 2: Pantera’ Review: A Sequel Few Demanded Is an Unexpected January Delight
Image
If you filled a room with everyone that was clamoring for a second “Den of Thieves” movie, you might be hard pressed to find anyone who isn’t a credited cast or crew member, a relative or representative of one, or legendary Berlin School director Christian Petzold. Released in 2018, the crime thriller about a Los Angeles sheriff known only as Big Nick (Gerard Butler) who’s hellbent on stopping a crew from robbing the Federal Reserve — only to find that the informant (O’Shea Jackson Jr.) he was leaning on was actually playing him — hasn’t exactly made an irreversible mark on the zeitgeist. But it left the door open for future adventures, with Jackson’s smarter-than-he-looks Donnie fleeing to Europe and setting up shop in the high stakes world of diamond theft.

‘Den of Thieves 2: Pantera’ Review: An Intense Gerard Butler Elevates Pro Forma Sequel
Image
The first Den of Thieves wore its influences on its sleeve—from Michael Mann’s Heat to Denis Villeneuve’s Sicario—but what set it apart was its gleefully messy, unapologetically scummy energy. Christian Gudegast’s film brimmed with grimy pleasures: Gerard Butler’s unhinged bluster as Nicholas O’Brien, Pablo Schreiber’s apathetic demeanor as Ray Merrimen, and choice exchanges like Butler’s deranged delivery of “I’d fuck you” to O’Shea Jackson Jr.’s Donnie Wilson, capped with a manic “kidding!” It espoused equal parts swaggering (and perhaps slightly self-aware) machismo and a cutthroat “every man for himself” worldview.

Gudegast’s Den of Thieves 2: Pantera never quite reaches the same level of compelling head-assery as the first film. Of course, there was so much melodramatic dick-swinging in Den of Thieves that the big climactic heist ended up feeling like an afterthought. The film wasn’t without its lackadaisical stretches,...

‘Den Of Thieves 2: Pantera’ Review: Gerard Butler Matches Wits Again With O’Shea Jackson Jr. In Familiar But Entertaining Euro Heist Action Flick
Image
In 2018, Den Of Thieves delivered the goods and was a ballsy attempt to rob the unrobbable Los Angeles Federal Reserve. It did modest but respectable business globally considering its limited ambitions, and that apparently was just enough to justify a sequel. In Den Of Thieves 2: Pantera, Gerard Butler, O’Shea Jackson Jr. and company head to Europe for another brazen robbery, this time at the top-security World Diamond Center in Nice, where the cop and the crook join forces to penetrate a thief-proof vault full of valuable deposit boxes with millions of dollars of jewels including an uber-desirable pink diamond stolen from the Mafia who wants it back. It’s complicated.

Ditching the L.A. locations of the first (actually doubled by Atlanta), this turns into a lush European and more...

‘Den of Thieves 2: Pantera’ Review: Gerard Butler and O’Shea Jackson Jr. in a Numbing Sequel
Image
Imagine the iconic diner sit-down scene between Al Pacino and Robert De Niro in Michael Mann’s Heat stretched out to feature length and you’ll get some idea of Den of Thieves 2: Pantera.

Admittedly, there’s a terrific action sequence in director-screenwriter Christian Gudegast’s follow-up to his overlong 2018 heist thriller. Unfortunately, the superbly orchestrated car chase/shootout, taking place both in a tunnel and on winding mountain roads, occurs nearly two hours into this equally bloated sequel’s 144-minute running time. Until then, you spend a lot of time watching the characters luxuriate in the European settings via consuming copious amounts of croissants, gelato and tiny cups of coffee.

Indeed, watching Gerard Butler, reprising his role of tough cop “Big Nick” O’Brien, struggle to learn the proper pronunciation of the word “croissant” is one of the more interesting elements of this formulaic if slickly filmed movie...

Gerard Butler Filmed 'Den of Thieves 2: Pantera' With a Torn Acl
Image
Den of Thieves 2: Pantera is finally headed to theaters this week, six years since the 2018 original film. Starring Gerard Butler and O'Shea Jackson Jr., the new sequel follows the unlikely duo as they partner up on another death-defying heist. Known for tense, frenetic shootouts, the first Den of Thieves was widely praised by action fans, and quickly regarded as one of Butler's better franchises currently active. As Den of Thieves 2 looks to shoot up the competition at the box office this weekend, you can partially thank Butler for the sequel coming to fruition despite having a heavily injured knee.

During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Butler revealed that a major knee injury plagued his time filming Den of Thieves 2: Pantera. At some point early during the production process, Butler revealed he fully tore his Acl, a tissue vital to quick movement in the knee. For those into sports,...

Why Big Nick Switches Sides In Den Of Thieves 2: Pantera Explained By Gerard Butler
Image
Den of Thieves 2: Pantera star Gerard Butler explains why his character, Big Nick, has abandoned law enforcement. Serving as a sequel to 2018's Den of Thieves, the upcoming action movie is once again directed by Christian Gudegast with a story that follows Big Nick as he chases Donnie (O'Shea Jackson Jr.) down in Europe. As the Den of Thieves 2: Pantera trailers have revealed, the sequel is set to shake things up in a major way, with Big Nick joining forces with Donnie for a heist of a major diamond exchange.

During a recent interview with The Direct, Butler breaks down Big Nick's sudden change of heart, explaining why he's joined the criminals in Den of Thieves 2. According to Butler, Nick's life in L.A. has fallen apart both personally and professionally, and his defeat at the end of the first movie played a large role in pushing him toward making a change.

‘Sonic the Hedgehog 3’ Director Jeff Fowler Talks “Artistic Consultant” Jim Carrey and ‘Sonic 4’ Chatter: “We’ll See”
Image
For Jeff Fowler, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is the fullest of full circles.

Before he transitioned to feature directing, Fowler worked as an animator at Tim Miller’s Blur Studio for many years, helping craft multiple high-res cut scenes for various Sonic the Hedgehog video games. Most notably, he contributed to Sega’s multi-platform spinoff game, Shadow the Hedgehog (2005), and when he eventually had the chance to tease a character in the mid-credits of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (2022), he jumped at the chance to welcome the “little badass” to the big screen. Given that the character is a darker version of Sonic — a hedgehog who’s driven by a wide-ranging revenge campaign — Mr. John Wick himself, Keanu Reeves, slid seamlessly into the role.

During the promotion of Sonic 2, Jim Carrey, who plays Sonic’s (Ben Schwartz) archnemesis Dr. Ivo Robotnik, received a great deal of attention for his talk of impending retirement,...

Yhwach is the son of the Soul King and the arc's main villain, and it is up to Ichigo Kurosaki to stop him from destroying the balance between life and death. Many of these characters are Captain-level Soul Reapers, but a lesser-known Lieutenant helps save the Seireitei from destruction. A former Espada returns and saves some of Ichigo's closest friends and allies. Two Quincy and a former major villain both play pivotal roles in Yhwach's defeat.

10 Sternritter Grimmjow Could Easily Beat In Bleach Tybw
Image
Recent episodes in the Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War anime brought back Grimmjow Jaegerjaques, a former member of the powerful Espadas group. That may not come as a total surprise for some anime fans, since the new anime's first cour gave Grimmjow a cameo appearance, and now he's back in full force. Ichigo can only hope that Grimmjow will focus his energies on the Sternritter and not pounce on a chance to stab Ichigo in the back.

No doubt the Bleach anime will show Grimmjow tangling with at least a few Sternritter, and that will get Bleach fans thinking about which Sternritter he could defeat in battle, and which he could not. It's already obvious that Grimmjow would not last long against the likes of Yhwach and his Schutzstaffel guards, but a handful of other Sternritter are all fair game for Grimmjow's blade, especially if Grimmjow can take them by surprise.

Metallica’s Kirk Hammett: Burger King Job Helped Start My Guitar Collection
Image
Metallica’s Kirk Hammett has amassed an enviable collection of guitars over the past 40-plus years, and he credits an early job at Burger King for getting him one of his first prized possessions, a Gibson Flying V that he still plays today.

Get a Kirk Hammett Signature Guitar

The metal icon goes in-depth about his guitar collection in a nearly 2-hour video that just premiered on Gibson TV’s YouTube channel. Sitting down with host Mark Agnesi, Hammett discusses a number of his notable guitars, including “Greeny” (originally owned by Fleetwood Mac’s Peter Green), a 1963 Gibson Explorer, and more.

When it comes to one of his earliest guitars, the Flying V, Hammett recalls, “I remember I was going out with this one girl at the time, she said, ‘Let’s go to Burger King.’ … So we’re sitting there, eating a Whopper or something, and she goes, ‘I’ll be right back.

James Hetfield Doesn’t Want Metallica to Be a “Legacy Band That Just Plays Their Greatest Hits’
Image
Metallica can certainly remain a highly successful touring act if they never release another album, but frontman James Hetfield doesn’t want the band to rely solely on its past hits. That’s why it’s important to him that the legendary metal act continues to create new music.

Metallica have been playing most of their best-known songs on their ongoing “M72 World Tour,” for which they just announced a new 2025 North American leg (pick up tickets here). However, Hetfield and company have also been showcasing tunes from their acclaimed 2023 album, 72 Seasons.

In a new appearance on The Metallica Report podcast (as transcribed by Blabbermouth), Hetfield noted, “I think that the confidence, the fact that the 72 Seasons album is well received and some of the songs that we’re playing live work and they kind of fit seamlessly in with all the catalog, all the albums we have.

Pantera Perform “Walk” with Seahawks Drumline During Seattle Concert: Watch
Image
Pantera were joined by the Seahawks Blue Thunder drumline for a performance of “Walk” during their set supporting Metallica at Lumen Field in Seattle on Friday (August 30th).

The metal veterans were running through the classic song as they usually would, but after the second chorus, the Seahawks drumline took the stage to a rousing cheer from the locals.

Pantera drummer Charlie Benante stayed locked into the song’s very deliberate and precise rhythm as the drumline fell in around him. It appeared to be a pretty loose rendition — potentially unrehearsed — as the drumline members (and especially the guys with the marching cymbals) look to be free-forming along with Benante. They’re not exactly on time, but it adds to the charm, as everyone is enjoying themselves.

The collaboration reprises Benante’s previous appearance alongside the Blue Thunder drumline back in January 2023. That time, Benante was...

‘Heavy Trip’ – Our Black Metal Comedy Is Streaming on Screambox!
Image
From Bloody Disgusting and Doppelgänger Releasing comes the black metal comedy Heavy Trip, now streaming on Screambox!

We’re proud of this Finnish comedy in the vein of Airheads – as if the band were a young Dethklok from “Metalocalypse”.

It’s about a small-town Finnish heavy metal band that blasts out of the quiet countryside for a big debut gig in Norway. Metal and horror fans are going to find it hysterical. I promise!

Here is a taste of the rave reviews:

Birth.Movies.Death’s Marisa Mirabal gave the horns of approval, “Heavy Trip solidifies its place among other beloved metal genre films by summoning a dark comedy that even those who aren’t familiar with Pantera, Children of Bodom, or Uruguayan grindcore can throw their horns up and enjoy.”

“Wail loud, scream proud and support this kooky exploratory import that’s worth one hell of a night with rocksteady friends,...

Bleach Zanpakuto That Perfectly Align With Their Users
Image
Zanpakuto are a major part of Bleach's combat system. In fact, these soul-cutting swords are emblematic of the entire series, and some of Bleach's best fights involve powerful, cool, and memorable zanpakuto abilities that can turn the tide of any fight. Zanpakuto are also treated as a Soul Reaper's battle partner, so naturally, many zanpakuto have shapes and powers that suit their wielder's personality and fighting style. Even some Arrancar zanpakuto are like that.

In their sealed forms, zanpakuto are just swords, but when a zanpakuto is released, it will show its true personality and potential, and it's up to the wielder to properly use those powers as a part of who they are. Most of the most successful fighters in Bleach carry zanpakuto that suit them quite well, with some zanpakuto feeling like an extension of their bodies. That set a good example for Soul Reapers who...

Charlie Benante Breaks Down Pantera’s “Walk” on Drums: Watch
Image
Drummer Charlie Benante breaks down the Pantera classic “Walk” in a new video for Drumeo (watch below).

Benante, the longtime and still current drummer for Anthrax, joined Pantera in 2022 as part of the legendary metal act’s revamped reunion lineup. He’s had the difficult task of filling the shoes of the band’s late drummer, Vinnie Paul.

Get Pantera Tickets Here

The veteran metal drummer begins his analysis of Vinnie Paul’s drum parts in “Walk” with the intro fill, which comes in after the first rounds of guitar riffs. The subtle complexities of the rhythm section become immediately apparent when Benante plays — for example — the opening fill slightly fast, showing that it doesn’t work.

“It sets up the groove a lot better, for me, if I don’t rush into it,” he said before playing it at the correct speed.

It’s one of the many wrinkles...

Jerry Abbott, Father of Pantera’s Dimebag and Vinnie Paul, Dead at 80
Image
Jerry Abbott, the father of late Pantera members Dimebag Darrell and Vinnie Paul, has died at the age of 80.

The news of his passing was reported by his friend Danny Wood Sr., who wrote on social media, “I’m very sad to tell everyone of the passing of a close friend Jerry Abbott. He died last night in a Denton care giving facility. His Family is having a private Funeral for Family and close Friends with a Memorial Service being planned. Details soon.”

Jerry, who was a musician and recording engineer, was an instrumental figure throughout Pantera’s formative years. He managed the band and co-produced their albums during their pre-Cowboys From Hell days in the ’80s.

In 2014, 10 years after the death of Dimebag, Jerry released the autobiography Over My Shoulder: The Life and Times of Jerry Abbott, in which he detailed his relationship with his sons.

Ranking Bleach’s Best Fighters
Image
The following contains spoilers for Bleach.

The shonen anime series Bleach features plenty of powerhouse characters, such as Soul Reapers and Arrancars, but these fighters are not all strong in the same way. Some Bleach warriors are powerful because they have formidable abilities and techniques at their disposal, almost like natural talent. They may be deadly, but that doesn't necessarily mean they're skilled. In fact, some powerful Bleach fighters seem to coast on their talents and don't bother to develop skills such as swordplay and martial arts.

Meanwhile, the most skilled and overall best fighters in Bleach are those who use years or even decades of training to become effective warriors, and that's actually more impressive than a character who relies mainly on an Op technique to crush their enemies. Bleach fans can easily see which characters are the best, most skilled fighters based on their special moves, their sharp battlefield intuition,...

Kid Band with 10-Year-Old Singer Performs Crushing Cover of Nine Inch Nails’ “Wish”: Watch
Image
The O’Keefe Music Foundation, a youth music education program in Ohio, has unleashed its latest video — a blistering cover of Nine Inch Nails‘ “Wish” that’s well on its way to viral fame.

The O’Keefe Music Foundation (Omf) is a nonprofit music organization that seeks to provide high quality music education to any child in the world for free. Omf has a particular affinity for helping its students create music videos for YouTube, with the new Nin clip being a stellar example.

This isn’t your standard performance clip, but a full-on professional concept video befitting of a major band. What starts as a rather humdrum birthday party goes off the rails when the kids pick up their instruments and lay waste to the living room where their gear resides, ripping through the 1993 Nin single.

Imagine a children’s b-day party turned DIY house show and you’ll get the gist.
