- Rochus Misch was born on July 29, 1917 in Alt Schalkowitz, Silesia, Germany [now Stare Siolkowice, Opolskie, Poland]. He was married to Gerda Lacjmund. He died on September 5, 2013 in Berlin, Germany.

- He outlived Heinrich Schmieder, who played him in Downfall (2004), by more than three years: Schmieder died on July 21, 2010 at the age of 40 while Misch died on September 5, 2013 at the age of 96.
- Was a courier, bodyguard and telephone operator for Adolf Hitler from 1940 to 1945. He was the last survivor of the Führerbunker.
- On his release from nearly nine years in Soviet labor camps in 1953, Misch returned to Berlin where he lived two miles from the Führerbunker, in Rudow, Berlin. He lived there for the rest of his life.
