BAFTA TV Nominations: Russell T Davies’ ‘It’s A Sin’ & Jack Thorne’s ‘Help’ Lead Field
Image
Russell T Davies’ It’s a Sin and Jack Thorne’s Help, two hard-hitting Channel 4 shows about societal issues, have dominated this year’s BAFTA TV Awards nominations, taking six and four noms, respectively.

Incorporating BAFTA Craft noms, which run concurrently with the TV Awards, HBO Max co-production It’s a Sin picked up 11, including for Mini-Series, Writer (Davies), five actors and in the Virgin Must-See Moment for Colin’s diagnosis.

Davies’ heart-wrenching semi-biographical portrayal of the UK’s 1980s AIDS epidemic for Red Production Company has swept up at this year’s awards ceremonies and is fresh off the back of three wins at last night’s Rts Awards and two at the Bpg Awards.

It’s a Sin’s five performance category noms were joint with last year’s Small Axe...

‘Ninja Warrior UK’ Returns To ITV After Three Years; Updated Format Will See Male & Female Winner
Image
Ninja Warrior UK is returning to ITV after three years off air with an updated format in which ordinary contestants face off against “Ninjas” and there will be both a male and female winner.

The show’s sixth season from ITV Studios label Potato will enter production in May, seeking two champions for the format based on 25-year-old Japanese show Sasuke in which ordinary people are challenged on an almost impossible assault course that has only ever been fully conquered by one UK person.

Ben Shephard, Chris Kamara and Rochelle Humes will continue to host the eight-parter after a three-year hiatus, having helmed the show since 2015, and the new format will see the ordinary people go up against “Ninjas,” a team of professional warrior athletes. It will occupy a Saturday evening slot.

Katie Rawcliffe, ITV’s Head of Entertainment Commissioning, said the show will be “all new, enhanced and reinvigorated,...
