Assemblage Entertainment, the feature-film focused CGI animation studio has begun production on Norm of the North 2, the sequel of 2016 theatrical feature film Norm of the North, along with Splash Entertainment, Lionsgate and Dfg Family. The movie is coming in 2018, but no release date was given for this animated sequel, and no voice cast members have been confirmed at this time. If it does hit theaters this year, it will join other animated sequels such as Sony's Hotel Transylvania 3, Pixar's The Incredibles 2, Paramount's Sherlock Gnomes and Disney's Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2. Here's what Assemblage Entertainment had to say in a brief statement.
"In many first-of-its times, it is unprecedented that an independent animated feature from India is greenlit for a sequel to be watched by global audiences in 2018."
The original Norm of the North was released in January 2016, an animated family film that told the...

According to IMDb, Woody Woodpecker is coming to theaters in 2017 in his first ever movie. Which is odd, since we've heard little to nothing at all about it. Today, we have a look at the annoying bird courtesy of Imp Awards. This one-sheet is for international audiences, which has us wondering if this is even going to get a proper release on America shores.
The Woody Woodpecker movie is taking on an environmentally conscious theme, and will tackle social issues with a deft hand at the comedy fans have come to know and love. The plot finds the hyperactive red-head entering a turf war with a big city lawyer who wants to tear down his home. This is all in an effort to build a house to flip. From the poster, we'd assume that this is a fully animated CGI movie. But we'd be wrong, as it's listed as being...

This Christmas, rather than revisiting the Christmas classics again, we've asked our writers to try a variety of, er, 'lesser known' Christmas movies. Today? It's Beethoven's Christmas Adventure...
This article contains spoilers for Beethoven's Christmas Adventure.
This is the seventh film in the Beethoven franchise. It's the first movie after Beethoven's Big Break rebooted the series with a new title character (in this case a stray St Bernard that becomes a movie star). It's a straight-to-dvd tale featuring actors from American telly series, and a post-alimony John Cleese.
Far be it from me to suggest that Cleese didn't read the script and effusively phone his agent saying 'I've got to do this part', but it isn't exactly up there with his performance in Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. To be fair,...

There will be a third live-action/CG "Scooby-Doo" movie, this time headed to TV and DVD.
Titled "Scooby-Doo: In the Beginning" -- a prequel set before the 2002 and 2004 "Scooby-Doo" theatricals -- the film will debut on Cartoon Network in fall 2009 when it also will be released on DVD. It finds the Mystery gang uniting for the first time to solve the haunting of their high school.
"Scooby-Doo: In the Beginning" will feature an all new cast of lesser-known actors replacing the original quartet of Freddie Prinze Jr., Sarah Michelle Gellar, Matthew Lillard and Linda Cardellini. Rob Amell ("Life With Derek") will play Freddy, joined by newcomers Kaitlyn Melton as Daphne, Hayley Alcroft as Velma and Nick Palatas as Shaggy. The computer-generated Scooby-Doo will be voiced by Frank Welker, a longtime voice actor on the animated "Scooby-Doo" series.
For Cartoon, which airs Hanna-Barbera's classic "Scooby" toons, the new film is part of its push into movies and live-action.
The original movie is co-produced by Warner Premiere, the direct-to-dvd and direct-to-platform production arm of Warner Bros. Entertainment, and Cartoon Network. Warner Home Video will distribute on DVD.
Brian Levant will direct from a script by Daniel and Steven Altiere. Brian Gilbert is producing.
Production is slated to begin Monday in Vancouver.
