5 takeaways from Neil deGrasse Tyson on Star Trek technologies
Image
Neil deGrasse Tyson is arguably the world’s most famous astrophysicist who has this affable delivery to explain the astronomical laws of physics such as the effects of the earth’s electromagnetic field or why all galaxies in the universe may likely encircle a black hole at their centers. I am currently reading Tyson’s 7th book “Starry Messenger: Cosmic Perspectives on Civilization” (release in 2022), and it reminded me just how small and insignificant our earthly issues are in comparison to the vast expanse of the universe and the mysteries of our solar system and beyond.

Tyson is geek fandom royalty and when he discussed the potential viability of Star Trek technology on his recent “StarTalk” podcast titled “The Science of Star Trek with Dr. Charles Liu” - I was thrilled and intrigued. I could not wait to hear his take on warp engines, phasers, and everything that makes starships...

The "Thanus" Avengers: Endgame theory has reached a whole new level of absurdity. Neil DeGrasse Tyson has now addressed the theory, but he does think it's pretty gross. DeGrasse Tyson is not wrong for saying that. In case you're not familiar, there is a very popular fan theory floating around stating Ant-Man should jump into Thanos through his butt and then expand into Giant Man, instantly killing the Mad Titan in a funny, but disgusting manner.

The Russo Brothers are fans of the "Thanus" movement and as of this writing, they have a meme dedicated to the theory as their Instagram profile picture. Comedian Chuck Nice presented the Avengers: Endgame fan theory to Neil DeGrasse Tyson on the StarTalk podcast. DeGrasse Tyson laughed and then said it was "nasty," but did say that it could work. But, he had another idea and it sounds a bit more logical. He says,...

My 5: ‘StarTalk’ Host Neil deGrasse Tyson’s Favorite Comedians
StarTalk (2015)
“For so many people, learning is a chore, but laughing is not. If we can combine learning with laughing, you can teach anybody, anything,” says famed American astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, who does exactly that as host of the National Geographic talk show StarTalk, which returns on Sunday, Oct. 1 with a new season of facts, laughs and plenty of A-list guests.

While the show regularly features scientific commentary and cosmic queries, it’s all delivered with a comedic punch. And in today’s polarizing political climate, Tyson says “it’s a comedian’s obligation to challenge social, cultural and political norms.” If they are not, then no one is being challenged to think, he adds.

So it makes sense then that so many funny people, including Ben Stiller, Jay Leno, Larry Wilmore and Whoopi Goldberg, have stopped by the show. “When a comedian is on the show as a guest, I don't seek...

VH1 is bringing back Best Week Ever
After a three-year absence in which stand-up comedians were left to forage in the cable wilderness, feasting on talking-head panel scraps like World's Dumbest Criminals to survive, VH1 is bringing Best Week Ever back beginning in January 2013.  The show has been off the air ever since the switch to a Paul F. Tompkins-hosted format failed to catch on with viewers and caused a visible strain on Tompkins. There's no official word yet on whether Best Week Ever will also bring back most of its old panel, but someone should probably go and retrieve Chuck Nice from whatever ...

Best Week Ever: VH1 Series Goes on Long Hiatus; Is It Actually Cancelled?
Tonight marks the last episode of VH1's Best Week Ever for 2009. The topical comedy show is taking a much longer-than-usual break. Will it ever return?

Best Week Ever premiered in 2004. With the help of a group of panelists and weekly guest stars, the series puts a comedic spotlight on the week's events in pop culture, celebrity gossip, and Hollywood buzz.

The show was revamped in October 2008 after the show's creator, Fred Graver, left the network in 2007. Regular panelist and stand-up comic Paul F. Tompkins became the center of the series. As is often the case with show overhauls, some viewers like the change and others don't. The show's panelists include Doug Benson, Mike Britt, Judah Friedlander, Rob Huebel, Nick Kroll, Chuck Nice, Melissa Rauch, Paul Scheer, Jessica St. Clair, and Adam Winer.

The show has taken breaks in the past but this time, the topical series will be out...
