National Geographic has revealed its full upfront slate for the upcoming 2021-22 season, with “The Hot Zone: Anthrax,” starring Daniel Dae Kim and Tony Goldwyn, among the programs for the Disney-owned brand.

Nat Geo’s Content president Courteney Monroe touted the offerings during the network’s upfront presentation on Tuesday, which included previews from far-flung locales. Popular series such as “The Incredible Dr. Pol,” “Secrets of the Zoo” and “Life Below Zero” will be returning, while Shark Week celebrates its 10th anniversary. Garth Brooks will narrate “National Parks,” a new series that will showcase the grandeur of America’s various wildlife locations, and “Free Solo” star Alex Honnold will a climbing team up 1,000 feet of sheer rock on a remote island in the Amazon jungle for “Explorer.”

National Geographic has ordered three new unscripted series including a trip down memory lane fronted by Rob Lowe.

The Brat Pack star is hosting and exec producing The ‘80s: Top Ten, a series that will feature six thought-provoking top 10 countdowns of 1980s pop culture, as voted by a panel of experts. It will feature the most memorable moments, gadgets, toys, fast foods, commercials and streetwear of the decade with stories such as the launch of MTV and the Apple Macintosh to the tale of Teddy Ruxpin and Wendy’s Super Bar.

It is produced by Nutopia and exec produced by Lowe, Jane Root, Matt Edmonds, and Nicola Moody.

National Geographic’s Emmy-nominated talk show “StarTalk with Neil deGrasse Tyson” is back for Season 4 with guests that include the late Anthony Bourdain. The show returns on Monday, November 12, at 11 p.m. Et; watch an exclusive first-look clip, featuring Tyson’s chat with former Vice President Al Gore, below.

The Bourdain episode features Tyson chatting with the gourmand and famed host about “the science of food and the most pivotal moment in his television hosting career when he traveled to Beirut.” Besides Gore and Bourdain, Ooher guests include Jeff Goldblum, who speaks about dinosaurs and aliens, George R.R. Martin, who gives the the backstory of “Game of Thrones.”

While the show regularly features scientific commentary and cosmic queries, it’s all delivered with a comedic punch. The newly televised version of the show will follow the podcast's existing format, with Tyson discussing different scientific topics with a variety of cohorts, usually stand-up comics or writers.
