Philip Peel (Writer, Director, DP and Teacher)
Phil has combined a career teaching the next generation of film-makers, with the continuing development of his own films. Formerly a photographer, professional writer, BBCTV director, producer, DP and University Course leader, he now freelances and writes full time.
Recently he's completed the feature thriller film "Gone to Ground" Short films he has directed, written, produced or filmed have been in over 40 festivals with a variety of awards. He's also advised and script edited on over 200 student 16mm drama films.

He has produced over 40 short films both on film and video. Produced 30 + short dramas over the last 15 years. 16mm & video. Selected for about 40 international festivals. DP on 17 + shorts. Directed 10+ music videos 6 feature screenplays. "Jack's Back" optioned. "Gone to Ground" produced 2024
Having qualified originally as a professional photographer, Phil worked though a wide range of roles in film and TV production including sound recordist, camera assistant, writer, cable TV producer before joining the BBC, where he worked as production manager, researcher & director including 3 series of Movie Magic, RPM and The Journey series; having 50 + broadcast director credits. He also directed daily regional news programmes South Today & Points West.
Other roles: Film & Television Coordinator for BA (Hons.) in Film and Television Production at Salisbury College. Member of Southampton City Council Cultural Consortium, Extras coordinator for Salisbury filming of 20th Century Fox "28 Days Later" Media/communication Specialist for European Community TACIS project at Orekhovo-Zujevo in Russian Federation (3 visits) teaching television techniques.
