Steve Coogan is back in the guise of Alan Partridge, for a brand new BBC series that’s now officially started shooting. As revealed earlier this year, the show is a documentary series called And Did Those Feet… with Alan Partridge. It’s a six-part series, and filming got underway last week in the south of England.

The BBC has confirmed that the show is before the cameras, and released some fresh information about it too. Don’t read on if you don’t want to know anything about it, he says, stating the bleedin’ obvious.

Alan Partridge is officially back as evidenced by a new first look image from his upcoming BBC documentary “And Did Those Feet… with Alan Partridge.”

Filming has officially commenced on the show, in which comedian Steve Coogan (who was twice nominated for Oscars his work on 2013 comedy-drama “Philomena”) reprises his role as the hapless interviewer.

The six-part mockumentary follows Partridge as he returns to Norfolk following a year in Saudi Arabia and struggles to reintegrate.

“One of the first – if not the first – documentary to address the issue of mental wellness, the six-part series follows the revered and beloved broadcaster on a quest to understand what’s going on, with Britain’s minds and his own,” reads the official logline. “It’s a show that makes a statement that will create shockwaves: ‘I’m Alan Partridge, and I’m not Ok.’ Partridge will write, present and produce the series. The last time BBC audiences saw Alan Partridge, he was being refused entry to Broadcasting House. The suits up in their ivory offices didn’t want a truth-talking troublemaker like him around, a man of the people, for the people, near some people.

Now, it’s a new chapter for Partridge on the Beeb. Following his 2020 – 2021 stint as co-presenter on weeknight light chat magazine programme ‘This Time’, he’s back with a fresh format. Exclusive: Steve Coogan’s Alan Partridge Live: Stratagem will stream on Amazon Prime UK in the winter, Deadline can reveal. Chris Bird, Managing Director Prime Video UK, confirmed the news.

Alan Partridge Live: Stratagem toured the UK and Ireland this April and May, 14 years after the Coogan alter ego’s last live tour. The Phil McIntyre Live Ltd and Baby Cow Productions production was filmed when the show played London’s O2 Arena last month.

Coogan (Philomena) introduced the character Alan Partridge as a parody of a certain type of bumptious, British television personality in 1991 in the BBC Radio 4 spoof current affairs show On the Hour, featured as its sports correspondent. That resulted in a multitude of spinoffs, including radio chat show Knowing Me, Knowing You, that was later adapted for TV.

There was an Alan Partridge film released in 2013 and a spoof autobiography.

Daisy May Cooper, the star of hit BBC comedy “This Country,” is to play a suspected witch being escorted to trial in 17th-century England in new BBC Two comedy series “The Witchfinder.”

Cooper will star alongside actor and comedian Tim Key, who plays a failing witch hunter transporting her to a trial that could change his fortunes forever. But his captive is the worst possible travel companion: an inquisitive, uncouth woman whose ability to prick his pomposity and ask uncomfortable questions turns a straightforward journey into a life-changing ordeal.

Set in 1647, in the middle of the English Civil War, “The Witchfinder” is created by Neil and Rob Gibbons, the writers and directors of Steve Coogan-starring “This Time With Alan Partridge.”

The six-part series is produced by Coogan’s production company, Baby Cow, whose credits include “The Trip,” starring Coogan and Rob Brydon, as well as features “Alpha Papa” and “Philomena.

UK outfit Met Film has launched a new boutique international sales arm, Met Film Sales, which will offer a slate of high-end documentaries and TV series.

The company is being headed up by Vesna Cudic [pictured], previously head of acquisitions and sales at Dogwoof.

“I am really excited about this move to Met Film,” Vesna told Screen. “I was attracted by the prospect of being involved in the projects from the start, helping with the finance and then selling them worldwide.

“We already have a slate of Met Film documentaries and series in varying stages of development and finance, and I’m also currently developing relationships with producers who can create content for us to sell, including fiction titles.”

Steve Coogan’s tactless alter ego Alan Partridge is coming back to a screen near you in a new one-hour mockumentary titled “Alan Partridge’s Scissored Isle” for the streaming comedy channel Seeso.

In this new special Alan will head to the north of England, leaving behind his comfortable existence, for a personal journey of redemption. Per the synopsis, “With his Land Rover and his dog, he journeys into an unreported Britain inhabited by the very people he had offended to ask whether, in this once united kingdom, a ‘schasm’ has formed – a schism or chasm, between the haves and the have-nots (or haven’ts).”

The presenter will live among everyday people in hopes to understand them, see the world through their eyes and ultimately become a better citizen, man and more sought-after broadcaster.

The Writers Guild of America has just announced the nominations for their annual awards for Best Screenplays (by writers who are guild signatories). That’s right, before you get nervous thinking that your favorite may have been left off the list, you must remember that the WGA is the group that is not all-inclusive and leaves out several of the top contenders each year due to them not being part of the guild or not following their very specific rules. For this reason, you won’t see Inside Out, The Hateful Eight, and Ex Machina in the Original Screenplay category or Room, Brooklyn, or Anomalisa in the Adapted screenplay category.

Taking a look at what’s left over for the nominations, we find many that were expected to make a showing, including Spotlight and Bridge of Spies for Original Screenplay, though they apparently had to sink to really low depths...

The Writers Guild of America announced some of its nominees for its 2015 awards on Thursday, including television, new media, and radio, and among the TV nominees are series both new and old, and all beloved.

In the comedy series category, freshman Netflix show "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" scored a nomination for best series, as well as an overall best new series nod. "The Last Man on Earth" also landed in that latter category, and was singled out for its pilot episode writing, too.

Citing “creative differences,” director Michael Winterbottom has exited comedic biopic Russ & Roger, according to a report by The Wrap.

Attached to the simmering comedic project since last April, Winterbottom appeared to be a shoo-in to take the reins of the feature film when production was finally set in motion early next year, though Stx Entertainment will now begin canvassing for a replacement sooner rather than later. Over the course of its run, Justified established itself as a top tier drama, which meant that expectations were high going into its sixth and final season. The series finale, however, delivered on several fronts, elevating itself into not only a highlight of the show, but a highlight of the television year as a whole to date. The deft manner in which the episode balances its numerous characters is one of the key ways in which it distinguishes itself. While the finale’s most important showdown is the one between Boyd and Raylan, the writers make sure to give the season’s antagonist Avery Markham his due as well, not diminishing the danger he posed by dismissing him easily.

Writer Neil Gibbons confirmed on Twitter that work is under way on the new book.

He wrote: "Alan Partridge's new book (the follow up to I, Partridge) is in the works. Out next year."

Neil penned I, Partridge with his brother Rob Gibbons, Armando Iannucci and Steve Coogan.

The Gibbons brothers are also responsible for Partridge's TV comeback, writing mockumentary Mid-Morning Matters and 2013 film Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa.

Last summer, it was confirmed that Alan Partridge's Mid-Morning Matters will return for more episodes on Sky Atlantic during 2015.

Alan Partridge's Mid-Morning Matters is definitely coming back to Sky Atlantic for a new series in 2015.

Steve Coogan's comic creation will also be back in a one-off "hard-hitting documentary special", which will also air on Sky Atlantic.

The subtitle for the new film Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa is intentionally, comically irrelevant. Movie posters can be found on the Internet promoting equally nonsense subtitles such as Gunbird and Hectic Danger Day, in keeping with the overblown confidence of the title character. The comically self-centered Partridge was first played by Steve Coogan about 20 years ago as a sports reporter on the BBC news parody program On the Hour, and has bounced around from parody news to sitcom to web-only video series before finally arriving on the big screen. Though Alan Partridge has found its way to American shores as part of the New York Film Festival, it compromises nothing for American audiences. This is among the most British of British comedies.

Joe Eszterhas, the Hollywood screenwriter behind Basic Instinct, Jagged Edge and Showgirls, has been named as thespecial guest speaker at the 2013 London Screenwriters’ Festival (Lsf).

The event will run from Oct 25-27 at the London School of Film, Media & Performance.

In addition to being the guest for the Lsf’s centrepiece audience interview, Eszterhas will share his experience directly with screenwriters in a series of one-to-one script sessions and will also present the festival’s inaugural British Screenwriters’ Award on Oct 27.

Other headline speakers will include Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa screenwriters Neil and Rob Gibbons, who will be in conversation with the director of the comedy hit, Declan Lowney; while The Inbetweeners screenwriters Iain Morris and Damon Beesley will also lead a session at the event.

Magnolia Pictures has acquired the North American distribution rights for the BBC Films/Studio Canal comedy Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa, ensuring that the pic will get a theatrical release here in the U.S. For those unaware, the film is a feature adaptation of the popular BBC TV series and radio character Alan Partridge, portrayed by Steve Coogan. Patridge is a bit of a parody of sports commentators and talk show hosts, as the character is himself a radio host and television presenter for I’m Alan Partridge. Magnolia is eyeing an early 2014 release for the film here in the States, where it will simply be titled Alan Partridge. The pic hit U.K. theaters on August 7th, where it has been enjoying a rather successful theatrical run for the past couple of weeks. If you need to know more about Alan Partridge than just the names Steve Coogan, and the insufferably under-appreciated Colm Meaney, well, I suppose I could offer up the fact that the film is a hit in the UK. Actually, I suppose if the first part didn’t work, the second isn’t any more likely to sway you.

Nevertheless, Magnolia is bringing you the movie, and you should thank them for doing it.

Apparently Michael Winterbottom doesn’t own the Steve Coogan trademark – his schtick and comedic genius happens to be a part of a brand that North American auds might be unfamiliar with. Going by the shorter, more introductory type of title (they nipped it down from the longer Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa) Magnolia have picked up the rights to helmer Declan Lowney’s Alan Partridge, which was announced as part of the 51st Nyff line-up and was released in the UK earlier this month. A 2014 release is being planned by the outfitter.

The distributor has set an early 2014 release for the UK comedy smash following a North American rights deal with StudioCanal.

Alan Partridge, based on Norfolk’s notorious fictitious broadcaster created by Steve Coogan some 20 years ago, will receive its North American premiere at the 2013 New York Film Festival.

The first feature outing for Partridge sees the gaffe-prone former BBC talk show host embroiled in a siege at a radio station involving a disgruntled former employee. Colm Meaney, Simon Greenall and Felicity Montagu also star.

Declan Lowney directed the Baby Cow/Studiocanal production from a screenplay by Rob Gibbons, Neil Gibbons, Coogan, Armando Iannucci and Peter Baynham.

Kevin Loader and Henry Normal produced and Rob Gibbons, Neil Gibbons, Iannucci, Danny Perkins, Joe Oppenheimer and Christine Langan served as executive producers.

The latest clip from Steve Coogan's comedy movie sees the hapless Norfolk DJ addressing the police and gathered crowd as off-camera hostage taker Pat Farrell (Colm Meaney) barks orders to him like "a mad Irish goose".

The featurette includes new interviews with Coogan and writers Neil Gibbons, Rob Gibbons and Armando Iannucci as they discuss bringing Partridge to the screen.

"There's danger, there's adventure, there's escapism," Iannucci said, with Neil Gibbons promising "a low-speed car chase" and "noisy kissing".

Alan Partridge (Steve Coogan) has been a British comedy icon for almost two decades now – but it’s the fictional characters’ latest recruits who have given him the new lease of life he deserved, as we caught up with the writers of Alan’s debut feature Alpha Papa, Neil and Rob Gibbons.

The brothers (it’s not that much of a coincidence) first came on board to supply material for Alan’s Mid Morning Matters, a show which encouraged the filmmakers to finally bring the much loved Norfolk broadcaster to the big screen. The pair discuss the challenge in adding new comedy material to an already established character, and just how long they had been planning this movie- which hits cinemas on August 7 nationwide.

It’s been a busy couple of years for Alan Partridge, who despite being fictional is enjoying a career renaissance that most regional disc-jockeys can only dream of. He’s written a bestselling memoir, embarked on a nationwide book tour of East Anglia and fronted a soul-searching documentary for Sky Atlantic, all the while continuing to pour ‘radio gravy’ into the ears of listeners right across the North Norfolk area. As if that wasn’t enough, he’s now ‘top daddy’ in a new movie from ‘the French dudes’ at StudioCanal and his hated former paymasters at the BBC.

Alpha Papa is a siege drama that Partridge might pitch as ‘Jason Statham meets Roger Moore on a Dog Day Afternoon in Norwich City Centre (plus the A140 to Cromer) for the Mail Online comments-section generation, but without the gay agenda (of Dog Day Afternoon, not Jason Statham...

After a blustery day behind the scenes of Alpha Papa, the question remains: where does Steve Coogan end and his most famous creation begin?

A freezing winter day in Cromer and it is impossible to tell where reality stops and Alan Partridge's world starts. "The best smiles for miles," says an advert for Cromer pier. "If hearty fun is good for the ticker," suggests another, GPs should prescribe "a strong dose of Cromer's seaside special". These Partridge-esque pronouncements are real but the pier shooting gallery and Susan Boyle poster are not. Two of a phalanx of police officers who have sealed off the pier from the public are genuine but most are actors watching the denouement of the long-awaited Alan Partridge movie.
