Horror is one of the hardest genres to nail down, as even a minuscule mistake could result in a horrific film, and that too not in a good way. 'Manifest' Is "Not Dead Yet" at Netflix, Creator Teases
Image
One of the most popular science fiction shows on Netflix, a show which seemingly ended back in 2023, is apparently “not dead yet,” according to its creator. The streamer has become infamous for quickly and unceremoniously dropping the cancellation axe on TV shows before they get a chance to really find an audience. However, alongside this, the platform has also saved shows from other networks. And such was the case with the hit supernatural drama, Manifest.

Created by Jeff Rake and debuting its first season back in 2018, Manifest features a large ensemble cast that includes Melissa Roxburgh, Josh Dallas, Athena Karkanis, J. R. Ramirez, Luna Blaise, Jack Messina, Parveen Kaur, Matt Long, and Holly Taylor, among others, and details the mystery behind Flight 828, which suddenly disappeared...before reappearing just as suddenly five years later.

Many of the passengers soon find themselves receiving “callings,” visions of the future, with brother and sister...

10 Best Amanda Bynes Movies And TV Shows, Ranked
Image
Hollywood has seen plenty of child stars come and go, their talents spent on any number of teen sitcoms and romantic comedies before life -- and in many cases tragedy -- pulled them in a different direction. But few if any were as remarkable in their genuine comedic talent as Amanda Bynes, the former Nickelodeon star who disappeared from Hollywood just as she was crossing into a career as a mainstream film actor.

Bynes cut her teeth as a stand-up comic at a very young age before joining the Nick family, frequently working with Dan Schneider, the infamous writer, creator, and mega-producer responsible for a massive portion of the network's success -- he's also the subject of all of Nickelodeon's most harrowing allegations of misconduct and abuse. After working on several projects with Schneider, Bynes appeared in a few movies outside his direct sphere of influence before taking a step back from the entertainment industry.

Manifest TV Series Ending Explained
Image
With a standout cast led by Josh Dallas and Melissa Roxburgh, "Manifest" was a frankly baffling TV series that wrapped a biblical fable in the trappings of "Lost." Originally airing on NBC, it was canceled in 2021 -- a year in which Netflix released some of its best series. The streamer rescued "Manifest" and allowed it to finish its story in a wild and explosive fashion.

For those of us still feeling burned by the series finale, there are plenty of shows like "Manifest" you can stream right now. For everyone else, we've finally gotten around to explaining its rapturous ending.

Read more: Famous Characters Who Never Actually Appear On Screen

What You Need To Remember About The Plot Of Manifest

"Manifest" is a supernatural mystery drama about a group of people who are essentially teleported five years into the future as a consequence of some unexplained paranormal phenomenon that occurred during a commercial flight.

Does Zeke Die On Manifest? His Fate Explained
Image
Although "Manifest" never became the huge success that "Lost" was in the 2000s, it did at least outperform most of those other shows commonly accused of copying the "Lost" formula. The plane-related mystery box show lasted four seasons — four and a half, really — and it got to end on its own terms. That's a privilege that poor "Flash Forward" (canceled one season into a planned 3-to-5 season run) never got to enjoy.

Among the show's many "Lost" parallels is the character Zeke Landon (Matt Long), who is sort of like Desmond Humes in that he wasn't involved in the show's inciting incident. Like Desmond, Zeke was introduced late and quickly turned out to be both super important and thrown into the show's most interesting romantic storyline. Sure, Zeke never quite got an episode as strong as Desmond's "The Constant," but it was still fun to have him around.

10 Greatest Supernatural Westerns, Ranked
Image
The Western genre has tackled a wide variety of sub-genres and topics, ranging from revisionist deconstruction to fantasy and science fiction. One of the best types of Wild West movies is the supernatural Western, which uses everything from ghosts and vampires to folklore to bring audiences compelling twists on the genre. While some of these films are explicitly on the horror side of cinema, others are darker adaptations of the genre's classics, like Shane and Rio Bravo.

Supernatural Westerns offer audiences an unexpected look at the Old West, using the mystique and isolation of the setting to great effect. While the genre tends to be more subtle in its use of the supernatural than others, a variety of filmmakers have shown the West can be a place of mystery, horror, and suspense when written properly. Ranging from hauntings to superheroes, a good supernatural twist can help make the Wild West...

Nicolas Cage's Ghost Rider Movies Land New Streaming Home
Image
It remains uncertain if and when there will be a new Ghost Rider movie set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. For now, fans can revisit the past two films featuring Nicolas Cage in the lead role.

Starting on Nov. 1, both of Cage's Ghost Rider movies will start streaming alongside one another on Hulu. The movies getting a new streaming home comes months after fans of Cage's Johnny Blaze were left disappointed after the character did not make a special appearance in Deadpool & Wolverine. While Deadpool & Wolverine brought in big names from past Marvel movies, like Wesley Snipes' Blade and Jennifer Garner's Elektra, Ghost Rider was left out in the cold. Ryan Reynolds confirmed that Ghost Rider appearing was considered at the start of production, but he didn't specify if Cage was actually approached or why the cameo didn't end up happening.

Yet, one character that many fans have been hoping to see that Marvel has been relatively quiet about is Ghost Rider. Mad Men's Showrunner Had A Completely Different Plan For Christina Hendricks' Joan
Image
When it comes to the feminist themes of "Mad Men," it's typically Peggy (Elisabeth Moss) at the front of the conversation. She's on a clear upward journey from the moment she shows up in the pilot, and spends the show slowly but surely rising through the ranks of a male-dominated corporate environment. Then there's Betty (January Jones) as Peggy's polar opposite, a woman who spends the series trapped in an unfulfilling housewife role, even though she's not stupid and she speaks Italian; she totally could've enjoyed that career in psychology if she'd been born a little later.

In the middle is Joan. She's introduced as an extension of the mean girl trope, and characterized as sort of vain and shallow. She casually espouses all the ideals about gender roles that the show itself clearly wants to criticize. She comes from a time where looks really are almost all that matters for a woman,...

Jensen Ackles Joins The MCU As A Long-Wanted Marvel Superhero In Awesome Concept Trailer
Image
A fan-made Ghost Rider trailer proves that Jensen Ackles is a perfect candidate for the McU's version of the cursed anti-hero. Jensen Ackles' performance as Dean Winchster in Supernatural and Soldier Boy in The Boys make him a good fit for Johnny Blaze or Danny Ketch. Ackles has expressed his interest in playing Batman, but he could instead join the McU's Midnight Sons team as Ghost Rider.

A fan-made concept trailer for the McU's Ghost Rider shows what Jensen Ackles would look like as the Spirit of Vengeance. After Nicolas Cage's two live-action appearances in 2007's Ghost Rider movie and its 2011 sequel, Ghost Rider only appeared in Agents of Shield, this time embodied by Gabriel Luna's Robbie Reyes instead of Johnny Blaze. But since Agents of Shield hasn't been fully integrated into the McU's main timeline, the Avengers' home universe doesn't have its own Ghost Rider variant yet.

Manifest Gives Its Long-Running Love Triangle a Tragic End
Image
Manifest was always a show that generated more questions than answers to its central mysteries. The passengers of Flight 828 were plagued by the looming question of what truly happened to them on the flight. However, one mystery haunting fans had nothing to do with Flight 828 itself. Michaela Stone's (Melissa Roxburgh) love life was an infuriating central mystery throughout the show's run.

Michaela's two main love interests were Jared Vasquez (J.R. Ramirez) and Zeke Landon (Matt Long). The love triangle between these three characters was one terrible plot line that should have ended when Michaela married Zeke in the third season. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case and Michaela's feelings for Jared lingered. In the fourth season, the sordid love triangle temporarily met a tragic conclusion, only to be a happy one in the definitive end.

This week on Apple TV+’s Hijack, Sam investigated a passenger’s disarming theory about the hijackers, while those on the ground started to take the airborne crisis seriously — and even round up some suspects.

The bulk of Episode 3’s drama was set in motion by Yussuf, the man seated behind Sam. How the 'Manifest' Finale Sets Up a Potential Spin-off
Image
Netflix’s Manifest follows the passengers of Flight 828 as their plane mysteriously vanishes for five and a half years before touching down as though no time has passed. Thus, the passengers step into a world that has, for the most part, moved on from them, though that is just the beginning of their wild journey. In the fourth and final season — after Zeke (Matt Long) sacrifices himself for Cal (Ty Doran) — Ben (Josh Dallas), Michaela (Melissa Roxburgh), Saanvi (Parveen Kaur), Olive (Luna Blaise), and Cal must do everything in their power to follow the Callings and keep the lifeboat afloat. Of course, matters are complicated by villainess Angelina (Holly Taylor) and a select few other passengers that are intent on misconstruing the meaning of what they’ve gone through and bringing about the end of the world. In the series finale, as their death date arrives, Manifest takes a path...

'Manifest's Final Season Cruelly Dodges a Fan-Favorite Couple's Endgame
Image
Editor's note: The below contains spoilers for Season 4 Part 2 of Manifest.Manifest has come to a close for the second and final time with the passengers facing their death date. With not only their fate in their hands but also the world, most of the time the passengers stay focused on solving their Callings and doing everything they can to keep the lifeboat afloat. Despite this, that still leaves plenty of room for relationships on Manifest, from the semi-love triangle between Zeke (Matt Long), Michaela (Melissa Roxburgh), and Jared (Jr Ramirez) to the romance between Olive (Luna Blaise) and passenger Tj (Garrett Wareing). The supernatural drama even takes a brief moment to explore fan favorites Ben (Josh Dallas) and Saanvi (Parveen Kaur), though considering the series finale, in hindsight, this wasn't a great narrative choice.

‘Manifest’: Melissa Roxburgh Talks Finale Reunion & Not Wanting ‘Lost’ Reaction

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for all of Manifest.] “I’m so curious to see, because with Lost, it was so all over the place. Well, everyone hates it. So I’m hoping that we have some people who love our show and how it ends,” Melissa Roxburgh says of fans’ reactions to the end of Manifest. We can’t help but think of the Lost finale with how the NBC-turned-Netflix series signed off with the arrival of the Death Date: Flight 828, after the passengers boarded the plane, faced their judgments, and stopped the apocalypse, landed as it should have in New York on April 7, 2013. Netflix’s Manifest season four episode 14 picks up with Olive (Luna Blaise) taking the blame for failing to keep Fiona alive since her death happened on her watch. Cal (Ty Doran) also takes the blame since he brought Fiona home, and since he believed the straw was securely in place in her lung.

Jared (J.R. Ramirez) and Michaela (Melissa Roxburgh) have an awkward moment discussing their “almost” kiss. Strained moment aside, Jared reveals that a cop spotted Angelina in Missouri. Manifest Season 4 Episode 11 Review: The Final Descent
Daryl Edwards, Matt Long, Luna Blaise, Josh Dallas, J.R. Ramirez, Holly Taylor, Melissa Roxburgh, Parveen Kaur, and Ty Doran in Manifest (2018)
Buckle up, Manifest Fanatics, because we're in for a wild ride to the finish line.

Manifest Season 4 Episode 11 set the wheels in motion for the final descent in an interesting fashion, but it took about half the episode for things to kick into high gear.

Manifest delivers stellar cliffhangers, but damn, I did not expect Captain Daly to resurface so soon -- or ever, to be honest.

In the name of bringing things full circle, "The Final Descent" featured many callbacks to past episodes, making it feel like everything we've witnessed on the series so far will come back into play before we reach the final scene.

Captain Daly's return was undoubtedly a shocker because it highlighted that while Vance and Saanvi may be connected, the government is hiding plenty from them.

The big surprise is how Vance is allowed to be a part of the search and care for...

Josh Dallas Talks ‘Manifest’ Finale and Future: “There’s Major Sequel or Spinoff Potential”
Image
The missing-plane drama Manifest has had a hell of a ride. First came the now infamous cancellation by NBC, followed by months of uncertainty over the show’s remaining two seasons and then culminating in a last-minute, 20-episode order from Netflix. The second half of the abbreviated final season will hit the streamer June 2 — right in the middle of the WGA strike that prohibits its prolific writer-showrunner, Jeff Rake, from promoting the series.

Luckily for the show, star Josh Dallas (who plays Flight 828 passenger Ben Stone and will appear at the Atx TV Festival with other castmembers June 1) is picking up the baton. He spoke to THR — while enjoying his time at home in L.A. with his wife, actress Ginnifer Goodwin, and their two young children after five years of production in New York — about Manifest‘s marquee ending and the state of episodic television going forward.

What was...

'Manifest' Season 4 Part 2 Review: A Thrilling Conclusion
Image
After years of trials and tribulations brought upon them by the divine Callings, the passengers of Flight 828 are making their final descent in Netflix’s Manifest Season 4 Part 2. For five years, the “Divine Consciousness” (as they’ve recently begun to call it) has been testing the passengers, preparing them for the inevitable end of the world that coincides with their mysterious death date: June 2, 2024. They’ve learned several things about how it’ll play out, including the ability to survive as Zeke (Matt Long) did if they unquestionably follow the Callings. But, the horror with the Meth Heads also taught our beloved co-captains, Michaela (Melissa Roxburgh) and Ben Stone (Josh Dallas), that the passengers will be judged together when their judgment day arrives.

Georgia GOP Chair Goes Full Flat-Earth, Says Globes Are Part of a Conspiracy

Kandiss Taylor, a recently elected GOP District Chair in Georgia, would like to know why Big Globe won’t stop shoving round-Earth propaganda down our throats.

In an interview with David Weiss (Aka “Flat Earth Dave”) and Matt Long on her “Jesus, Guns, and Babies” podcast, Taylor and her guests discussed biblical “evidence” that the Earth is actually flat as a pancake. “The people that defend the globe don’t know anything about the globe,” said Weiss. “If they knew a tenth of what Matt and I know about the...

Zeke’s Return In Manifest Season 4 Reveals A Massive Callings Twist
Image
Zeke’s return is a lore-changing twist for Manifest season 4, part 2. Played by Matt Long, Zeke lost his life in the Manifest season 4, part 1 finale. However, the trailer for the show’s final episodes confirm the character’s time on the show hasn’t ended. He’ll be back, and as the footage reveals, it won’t be through a flashback.

Since the second half of season 1, Zeke has played a crucial role in the journey of the Flight 828 passengers. Even after beating his own Death Date in the season 2 finale, Zeke continued to be vital to the story. He proved his importance to their destiny in the Manifest season 4, part 1 finale when he made the ultimate sacrifice to save Cal. This moment seemingly completed his arc. However, it appears the show still has room for him. The Manifest season 4, part 2 trailer revealed a scene where Zeke communicates with Michaela in a mystery location.

Manifest Final Episodes Trailer: Angelina's Reign of Terror Intensifies as the Survivors Buckle Under the Pressure
Daryl Edwards, Matt Long, Luna Blaise, Josh Dallas, J.R. Ramirez, Holly Taylor, Melissa Roxburgh, Parveen Kaur, and Ty Doran in Manifest (2018)
Our favorite 828ers have seen better days, and it's hard not to worry about how their journies will end.

On Thursday, Netflix went public with the official trailer for the second half of Manifest Season 4, and it's a lot to process.

"When we boarded [Flight] 828, we had no idea what a tortured, life-changing journey we were about to embark on," Josh Dallas' Ben Stone says atop the new trailer.

We're then subjected to the complicated perils that come with the mysterious death date.

Angelina is very clearly on one and won't stop until she's achieved what she believes to be her calling.

We already know Angelina was devoted to the cause when she stabbed Grace, indulged in saphire, and gave her best apocalypse pose at the close of the first half of Manifest Season 4.

The Stones and everyone else are trying to comprehend what the end looks like, and I dare...

‘Manifest’ Season 4 Part 2 Trailer: Will Everyone Survive the Death Date? (Video)
Image
“When we boarded 828, we had no idea what a tortured, life-changing journey we were about to embark on,” Ben (Josh Dallas) says in the trailer for Manifest‘s final episodes. “And now we’re finally at the end.” But what does that end look like? Simply put: not good. They’re not resolving enough Callings to survive the Death Date, and that day is quickly approaching. Cal’s (Ty Doran) glowing again. Angelina (Holly Taylor) thinks God chose her to guide those worthy through the final judgment. Michaela (Melissa Roxburgh) sees her dead husband, Zeke (Matt Long), who says, “If I tell you about the future, it will change your decisions.” There’s the Michaela and Jared (J.R. Ramirez) — and Drea (Ellen Tamaki)? — of it. Watch the full video above for much more. “In the aftermath of Angelina unleashing a devastating volcanic fissure, the passengers face severe scrutiny in a...

‘Manifest’ Sets June Date for Netflix Finale — Watch the Teaser
Image
After being saved from a crash-landing by Netflix just two years ago, “Manifest” has just about reached its final destination. The NBC supernatural drama-turned Netflix original will premiere the back half of its fourth and final season on June 2, the streamer announced Friday. The news was accompanied by a teaser for the final episodes.

Created by Jeff Rake, “Manifest” debuted on NBC in September 2018. The show was a ratings success in its first season, attracting 10.3 million viewers for its pilot episode. The show’s numbers steadily declined across its following two seasons, and NBC pulled the plug on the drama in June 2021.

Although that cancellation would typically be the end of the series’ flight plan, “Manifest” unexpectedly found a new set of wings on Netflix. The streaming giant added all three “Manifest” seasons the same month NBC grounded the drama; the show quickly found an entirely new audience on the streamer,...
