CBS recently announced Criminal Minds star Matthew Gray Gubler was set to star in the upcoming procedural drama Einstein. However, soon after the official reveal that the show had been ordered, the network decided to push the series back by a full year to the 2026-27 TV season.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, the decision to push Einstein to next year came about due to a lack of space in CBS's 2025-26 schedule. It made the most sense for the network to push the series to the 2026-27 TV season. Einstein will follow Gubler, previously best known for his role as Spencer Reid on Criminal Minds, another genius, as Albert Einstein's great-grandson, Lew Einstein. This is the second attempt at the series, as a different version of Einstien was announced in 2020 by CBS but was subsequently dropped.

CBS is experimenting with its own sense of space and time: The network’s drama “Einstein,” recently ordered to series and targeted for next season, will be instead be held until the following year.
That means the Matthew Gray Gubler starrer, which was first ordered as a pilot in August 2024, won’t actually hit the airwaves until two years later — during the 2026-2027 TV season. Per CBS, the reason is that there just wasn’t room for “Einstein” during the upcoming 2025-2026 frame.
Eye execs are making their final decisions on next season’s schedule right now, and are set to unveil its fall 2025 plans at a press conference on Wednesday, May 7. It’s believed that CBS execs decided there wasn’t room on the schedule for “Einstein,” and that the show might benefit from a longer pre-production time.
Other new shows already ordered to series next season include “Blue Bloods” spinoff “Boston Blue,...

Matthew Gray Gubler's New Crime Procedural Sets Fall Premiere Five Years After 'Criminal Minds' Exit
Five years after Criminal Minds ended on the network, Matthew Gray Gubler is returning to CBS. The Hollywood Reporter has the news that the actor's new procedural series, Einstein, has been ordered to series at the Tiffany Network, and will likely premiere in the fall. Rosa Salazar co-stars in the new series, which will center around a crime-solving professor. The series was previously given a pilot order, and has now assured its place on the network's schedule.
Einstein stars Gubler as Lewis Einstein, a fictional great-grandson of legendary physicist Albert Einstein. Lewis is a brilliant professor at Princeton, but his life lacks direction until he finds himself on the wrong side of the law. To keep himself out of jail, he has to work with a police detective to solve the department's thorniest crimes. The series is based on a German series of the same name that premiered in 2017 and...

In the summer of 1998, two asteroid disaster films hit theaters just weeks apart. Armageddon and Deep Impact told nearly the same story: a massive asteroid is heading for Earth, and humanity races against the clock to stop it. Both feature ensemble casts, space missions, global panic, and sacrifices. But beyond the shared premise, the two films took very different approaches. One leaned into spectacle and style. The other aimed for something more realistic.
For years, people have debated which film did it better. But if the question is which one came closer to how an actual planet-killing event might unfold, there’s a clear answer. While Armageddon went all-in on blockbuster thrills, Deep Impact took a slower, more calculated route and ended up telling the more realistic version of the story.
Deep Impact and Armageddon Both Focus on the World's End from an Asteroid
Both Deep Impact & Armageddon, released in 1998, share a similar plot.

FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper of Twin Peaks is one of the most iconic TV protagonists of all time. His distinctive appearance, mannerisms, and eccentric approach to investigating the murder of Laura Palmer (Sheryl Lee) in the eponymous Washington town are all part of why "Coop" is arguably the most famous role of actor Kyle MacLachlan's career. But, even before the show premiered on ABC in 1990, traces of the character of Dale Cooper could be seen in some of MacLachlan's film roles. For instance, both MacLachlan (New York Times) and Twin Peaks co-creator David Lynch (LA Times) have described Cooper as an older version of Jeffrey Beaumont, the protagonist played by MacLachlan in the 1986 film Blue Velvet, which Lynch directed.
But, one year after Blue Velvet, MacLachlan played another character who arguably bears an even greater resemblance to Cooper — one whom Lynch had nothing to do with. That would be Lloyd Gallagher,...

CBS has given a pilot order to “Einstein,” from “Monk” creator Andy Breckman. Breckman is adapting “Einstein” from a German format; the show revolves around the great grandson of Albert Einstein — described as “brilliant but directionless.” The character is a tenured professor who gets into trouble with the law — and for retribution, must help a local police detective solve her cases.
Breckman is writer/exec producer on the project, while Randy Zisk is director/exec producer. The series, from CBS Studios, will also be executive produced by Tariq Jalil; Rose Hughes, Rodrigo Herrera Ibarguengoytia and Laura Beetz (Seven One Studios International).
The original “Einstein” started as a TV movie in 2015 starring Tom Beck (“Alarm for Cobra 11”) and from writers Martin Ritzenhoff and Matthias Dinter. Ritzenhoff and Dinter then turned it into a series through Zeitsprung Pictures; the show ran for three seasons and was distributed to over 100 territories.

CBS continues to move ahead with its long-term development strategy, ordering another pilot targeting the 2025-26 broadcast season. The network has picked up to pilot drama Einstein (working title), from the Monk team of creator/executive producer Andy Breckman and director/executive producer Randy Zisk.
It follows a pilot order for comedy Dmv and a development room for comedy Eternally Yours (working title) — all looking to join Sheriff Country, CBS’ first new scripted series set for a launch during the 2025-26 season.
The third time at CBS — and fourth time overall — proved to be the charm for mounting an U.S. adaptation of the German procedural Einstein with a pilot order. As Deadline reported exclusively in June, the new take had been heating up at CBS.

UK’s Odeon Cinemas Expands Family Offer
In a bid to bolster its draw for families, the UK’s Odeon Cinemas is expanding the scope of its “adults pay kids prices” deal. The scheme will see admits for one adult and one child from as little as £10 for an Odeon Cinema and £15 for an Odeon Luxe throughout 2024. The AMC-owned chain says it’s making the investment into its family offerings as data has shown that affordability and convenience are the biggest concerns for families when considering activities, particularly over the summer holidays. With the opening weekend of Inside Out 2 marking Odeon’s busiest since National Cinema Day last September, turnstiles have been on fire. The UK gross for IO2 through Sunday stands at $40.2M while such titles with family appeal on deck include Despicable Me 4 on July 12 and Harold and the Purple Crayon on August 2. Exclusive: CBS is hoping it’s third time is a charm for its take on German procedural Einstein.
The network is developing a new take on the scripted format from Monk pair Andy Breckman and Randy Zisk.
Brilliant but directionless, the great grandson of Albert Einstein spends his days as a comfortably tenured professor until his bad boy antics land him in trouble with the law and he is pressed into service helping a local police detective solve her most puzzling cases.
This is the third attempt at developing the project for CBS. In 2019, Monk creator Breckman and director Zisk developed a version of the show, which ran for three seasons in Germany. The following year, the network teamed with Insatiable creator Lauren Gussis and American Gothic creator Corinne Brinkerhoff for a gender-swapped version of the show that added a new perspective on policing, in the wake of the killing of George Floyd.

Morgan Freeman is one of cinema's most beloved wise authority figures, but while many believe he's played the President of the United States many times, he really hasn't. Freeman first rose to fame as part of PBS' children's series The Electric Company during the '70s. Despite working steadily in the years that followed, it was his acclaimed turn in Christopher Reeve thriller Street Smart that made his career. From there, he went on to appear in Driving Miss Daisy, The Shawshank Redemption, Seven and many other defining hits.
Freeman is often cast as mentor figures, who dispense sage advice or wisdom. It helps that his height and voice make him perfect for such roles. From Shawshank Redemption's Red to the Dark Knight trilogy or even Lucy, the veteran actor has this market covered. Bruce Almighty took this to the logical conclusion, casting Freeman as God, who imbues Jim Carrey...

Which actors are the most "Presidential"? To find out, we assembled this exclusive list of actors who have portrayed the President of the United States more than once.
Getting the opportunity to portray a Us President in film is rare. It can be a dignified role, and many times the actor has to be able to exhibit certain qualities we would traditionally associate with the Us head of state. Us Presidents are also depicted in film in a variety of ways. Some of them are the main characters for their respective films, where others are simply bit parts designed to represent the figurehead. Other roles may be satires, caricatures, or played for comedic effect. Regardless of the purpose or the depth of the role, there have been a limited number of Us President roles in the last century+ of motion picture projection.
Of course, some actors are more Presidential than others.
