Move over, Sullivan's Crossing! See you later, Squid Game. There's a new No. 1 show on the Netflix Top 10 as of Friday, July 18, and it's a new murder mystery series starring Eric Bana.

The new Netflix original series, Untamed, premiered on Thursday, July 17, and it's already gaining steam and making waves globally for the streamer. If you're a fan of murder mysteries, especially those set in the great outdoors, Untamed is absolutely the show for you to watch on Netflix this weekend.

Mark L. Smith created Untamed with Elle Smith, his daughter. Smith also created the hit Western series American Primeval, which premiered on Netflix earlier this year.

Untamed tells the story of Kyle Turner (Bana), a National Park ranger who is involved in the investigation of a murder at El Capitan in Yosemite National Park in California. As Kyle gets closer to solving the mystery, not everything is as it seems.

Ozark was one of Netflix's biggest original series -- and since its finale in 2022, Netflix has been constantly trying to fill that void with another show. While The Waterfront tried, it ultimately didn't reach the same heights.

But per Rotten Tomatoes, another new Netflix series has: Untamed, which stars Jurassic Park's Sam Neill and Eric Bana. The series premiered July 17, 2025, and Untamed has the critics and the Netflix audience almost in perfect agreement.

Untamed debuted with a certified Fresh 81% approval score out of 26 critics' reviews and 88% approval from viewers on the Popcornmeter. The series received encouraging reviews, although the scores might fluctuate as more opinions come in. The six-episode limited series, created and written by Mark L. Smith and Elle Smith, is set in and around Yosemite National Park. Bana stars as National Park Service agent Kyle Turner, who is called in to investigate when a body is found inside the park.
