Fahadh Faasil & Vadivelu Reunite For A Road Thriller ( Photo Credit – Instagram )
Maareesan is set to release this week and marks the reunion of Fahadh Faasil and Vadivelu after their collaboration in the 2023 political drama Maamannan. However, unlike their previous outing, Maareesan is not a political film. This time, the story unfolds as a road movie. In an interview with OTTPlay, director Sudheesh Sankar revealed that while the first half plays out like a thriller, the second half will take the audience by complete surprise. He also noted that Vadivelu will be seen in a role unlike anything he has done before.
The idea of bringing Fahadh Faasil and Vadivelu together for a film like this, the director revealed, came only after watching Maamannan. In that sense, Maamannan acted as a catalyst for Maareesan. As for the title, there’s an interesting story behind it, too. The name Maareesan is drawn from the Hindu epic Ramayan.

There are a few shows or movies that set a standard and a template for a whole genre. HBO’s 2001 miniseries Band of Brothers not only did that for war dramas but also launched and boosted many acting careers. The series, created by Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg, presented real-life events of Easy Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division throughout World War II.
The ensemble cast of Band of Brothers is one of the main reasons people still remember the show. Apart from playing the roles of soldiers, actors like Scott Grimes as Donald Malarkey, Kirk Acevedo as Joe Toye, and Damian Lewis as Richard Winters made the audience empathize with their losses and wins and connect with their camaraderie. Now, after more than two decades since its premiere, let’s catch up with some of these talented cast members and see what they are up to.

Low-budget visuals drain the charm from this animated tale strangely reminiscent of Jonathan Livingston Seagull
Birds of a feather flock together, unless you’re an eagle being raised in a community of chickens, per this animated family adventure. Orphaned in a plane crash, young Goldbeak is from a prominent political family and, naturally enough, he comes to realise he doesn’t exactly fit in with the hens and roosters with whom he is living. Notably, chickens are not known for their prowess at flying, and so he finds his literal wings metaphorically clipped, though he is desperate to soar above his contemporaries.
Thematically, this is vaguely reminiscent of 1970s publishing hit Jonathan Livingston Seagull, a short allegorical fable about a frustrated gull who refuses to accept the limitations of his community and yearns to go beyond the limits of what seems possible. Here, though, Goldbeak’s exceptionalism is firmly rooted in biology,...

Livingston appeared on the Then Is Now podcast. She revealed how she got her big break on the ABC soap. Livingston tried out for many acting jobs. Unfortunately, the entertainment industry can be hard to break into. At first, Livingston was hesitant about joining the show.
It took some convincing from her father, who told her to approach it like a “vacation” rather than a “job.” Livingston admitted she was “green” when she “first started.” Though she was in “many acting classes,” it was her “first time on TV.” The small screen is different from the theater stage.
She didn’t want to watch the soap.

Camila Alves‘ teenage daughter is a total mini-me!
On Thursday night (January 23), Matthew McConaughey brought along the couple’s 15-year-old daughter Vida to the Ut Women’s Basketball game against the Tennessee Volunteers in Austin, Texas.
Vida looked just like the 41-year-old Brazilian model while wearing a cropped white and orange Texas Longhorns shirt paired with jeans. The 55-year-old Oscar-winning actor sported a tan leather jacket, white T-shirt, jeans, and silver star belt buckle.
The Longhorns defeated the Volunteers 80-76.
The father-daughter outing comes just a few short weeks after Vida celebrated her 15th birthday.
In honor of her birthday, Matthew took to Instagram to share a photo of Vida as a child playing outside along with the sweet caption, “Vida. 15 years. Thanks for being my tech guru, so savvy, and for loving to grow things. Love Papai.”

Matt Damon and Ben Affleck Almost Starred In Office Space? (Photo Credit – Koimoi)
Office Space is an all-time classic, right? But hold up—what if I told you that Good Will Hunting legends Matt Damon and Ben Affleck were almost the stars? Yep, for real. Back in the day, Fox was all about casting Ben and Matt for the role that went to Ron Livingston. But here’s the plot twist: Ron Livingston’s audition was straight-up fire and couldn’t be ignored.
Mike Judge, the genius behind the film, was looking for someone who didn’t have “star energy”—and Affleck and Damon riding high on their fame. He met with Matt Damon, who was super into the script but still knew Livingston was his guy. “I’d found Peter,” Judge said. And that’s how Peter Gibbons, the ultimate office drone, was born.
But wait, there’s more...

Ron Livingston can’t walk down the street without “Sex and the City” fans hating him. Or, more precisely, his infamous character Jack Berger.
During Season 5 of the hit series, Livingston’s Berger dates Sarah Jessica Parker’s Carrie. A struggling novelist, Berger’s mood swings lead to him ending things with Carrie via Post-it, reading, “I’m sorry. I can’t. Don’t hate me.”
Livingston’s real-life wife, fellow actress Rosemarie DeWitt, said during “The Drew Barrymore Show” that she and Livingston couldn’t even walk through New York City without rabid “Sex and the City” fans accosting them.
“Back in the day, when we first started dating, we’d be walking in the West Village, and there’d be those ‘Sex and the City’ tours, and Ron would be like, ‘Go left! Go left!,’” DeWitt said. “We’d have to duck into Magnolia Bakery or something because...

Rosemarie DeWitt and Ron Livingston dealt with the aftermath of the infamous Post-it note breakup in Sex and the City.

Most Trekkies know that Captain Picard (Patrick Stewart) kept a pet lionfish in a globe-shaped aquarium in his ready room. Only deep-cut Trekkies know, however, that the fish was named Livingston. Some have assumed it was named after Harold Livingston, the screenwriter of "Star Trek: The Motion Picture," but the fish could also have been named after the Scottish football team, for all we know. No information has been given about Livingston the lionfish.
Indeed, no one knows if the fish was Picard's personal pet, or if lionfish were merely standard-issue in-office animals in Starfleet. It seems likely it was the former, as the latter seems too exploitative for the life-respecting Federation; no 24th-century bureaucracy would wrangle thousands of fish merely to install them as background critters in captains' ready-rooms.

In the "Star Trek: The Next Generation" episode "Power Play", the crew of the Enterprise-d find themselves visiting the surface of a seemingly uninhabited moon from whence a distress call was emanating. Data (Brent Spiner), Commander Riker (Jonathan Frakes), and Counselor Troi (Marina Sirtis) are able to fly down in a shuttle, but violent energy storms prevent them from taking off again. They can only beam up once Chief O'Brien (Colm Meany) visits the surface and enhances their transporter pattern.
Just as they are prepping to return, however, they are all knocked unconscious by a bolt of energy, getting thrown to the ground. Data, Troi, and O'Brien are then eerily possessed by free-floating balls of energy that drift into their bodies from a cloud above. The miniseries flaunts a wide and talented ensemble including David Schwimmer who plays the role of Captain Herbert Sobel. For fans of the show, though, it was quite difficult seeing the actor play such a serious role after he had been linked with the comedy genre for such a long time. On the other hand, there is Ron Livingston’s Captain Lewis Nixon who fans believe could have been treated a bit better in the show.

Near the end of Jennie Livingston’s Paris Is Burning, Venus Xtravaganza, an Italian Puerto Rican ballroom dancer who was one of the landmark queer doc’s subjects, describes a harrowing near-death experience. While Venus was hustling as a sex worker, a client realized she was a trans woman and reacted violently. “You’re a freak,” Venus recalls the man saying to her, “I should kill you.” Rattled by the threat, Venus grabbed her bag and jumped out of the window. The story is particularly haunting because a few scenes later, Venus’ house mother, Angie, reveals that the young ballroom performer was found strangled to death in a Manhattan hotel. “She was like my right hand,” Angie says. “I miss her.”
The depth of Venus’ loss is acutely felt in Kimberly Reed’s affecting documentary I’m Your Venus. The film, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival, is one of...

Despite being one of the longest-running live-action sitcoms of all time, you don't hear much about "My Three Sons" anymore. The series ran for an impressive 12 seasons beginning in 1960, producing 380 episodes of wholesome sitcom scenarios during a decade of tremendous upheaval. "The real world was quite tumultuous and revolution was in the air," star Barry Livingston told CBS News in a 2009 retrospective, "and we were still eating Uncle Charley's cookies and having milk."
"My Three Sons" doesn't have the enduring legacy of more thought-provoking shows of the '60s and '70s, like "M*A*S*H" and "The Twilight Zone," nor is it typically mentioned in the same breath as all-time-great comedies like "I Love Lucy" and "The Dick Van Dyke Show." Despite the show's absence from most abridged versions of TV history, though, it still connected with audiences in its time: the series about a widower raising three sons as a...

In March, Trump launched a Maga-based Bible that included lyrics to “God Bless the U.S.A.” by Lee Greenwood, the United States Constitution, the Declaration of Independence and other notable American documents. Trump’s Maga Bible was widely mocked by both sides online, including a segment on Saturday Night Live.
In his sermon at the Central Church of North Carolina, evangelical Pastor Loran Livingston shared his thoughts on Trump’s new product. A Livingston video was shared with TikTok and X, where it went viral for his heated words.
“No, no. It’s disgusting! It’s blasphemous! It’s a ploy! Are you kidding me? Some of you are so encouraged by that. Let me tell you something. The gospel is not an American gospel. It is the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ!”
This evangelical is over Trump.

“Having children I know has made me a better artist and has made me a better actor, because kids see things for the first time all the time. Their questions are innocent,” he told People. “I become a better storyteller because I have kids, meaning, I come home from work on something like True Detective, and my 4-year-old kid goes, ‘What’d you do today?’ I cannot tell them what the show’s really about, it’s not age-appropriate. So I have to go into a parable for them.”
The star described how the nature of his projects made him get creative around his children.

In the "Star Trek: The Next Generation" episode "Identity Crisis", Lieutenant Commander Geordi La Forge (LeVar Burton) meets an old friend, Lieutenant Commander Susanna Leijten (Maryann Plunkett), the only surviving member of a mission they both went on years before. It seems that their compatriots have gone missing or stolen shuttlecrafts to return to the planet Tarchannen III, where they were last united. Soon after her arrival, Leijten also begins exhibiting weird behavior, twitching nervously and demanding a visit to Tarchannen III. Her body begins to mutate. Her fingers fuse together and eerie blue veins appear on her skin. Her eyes turn yellow. It's all Dr. Crusher (Gates McFadden) can do to slow the mutations.
Geordi, while unattended, also suddenly begins to mutate. He eventually returns to Tarchannen III, having turned into a near-invisible creature that can only be seen under a special blacklight. Leijten has to overcome her own...

Jean-Paul Vignon, the romantic French vocalist and actor who impressed audiences on both sides of the Atlantic during an eight-decade career, died March 22 of liver cancer in Beverly Hills, his family announced. He was 89.
Performing a repertoire of contemporary pop and American standards, Vignon debuted in the U.S. in 1963 at the famed New York supper club The Blue Angel, where he opened for stand-up comic Woody Allen.
Ed Sullivan would soon showcase him on his Sunday night CBS variety show in eight appearances — including one in which he sang a duet with young Liza Minnelli — and he became a regular guest on Johnny Carson and Merv Griffin’s programs.
Signed to Columbia Records, Vignon released his first U.S. album, Because I Love You, in 1964. Three years later, he had a supporting role opposite William Holden and Cliff Robertson in the World War II film The Devil’s Brigade.

Mike Judge and his Office Space cast reunited at South by Southwest Film & TV Festival for a panel discussion March 9 sponsored by The Hollywood Reporter about the beloved and influential film — a title that arguably reinvented the workplace comedy for the modern age and popularized the concept of quiet quitting. While the panel discussion tackled several intriguing aspects about the film’s creation and reception (some highlights below), Judge revealed a few extra tidbits at the post-panel reception at Austin’s The Statesman restaurant.
Asked if there was anything he would change about the film (which was famously difficult to get made, with the writer-director fending off a blizzard of studio executive Tps reports, er, notes), Judge offhandedly noted he hasn’t seen his film since before it was released in 1999. Hollywood star Matthew McConaughey enjoys tasty meals at home in Texas with his wife Camila Alves McConaughey. Camila often shares her adventures in the kitchen, and beyond, on her website ‘Women of Today’.
For Southern Living, the married couple, who share sons Levi, Livingston, and daughter Vida, spoke about the recipes that the family loves most, reports ‘People’ magazine.
“The most requested recipe in the house for me to make by Ma Mac and Matthew—would be the no-mayo coleslaw”, Camila told Southern Living, referencing her popular coleslaw recipe that uses olive oil, vinegar and lemon juice in place of mayonnaise.
As per ‘People’, their children’s taste buds crave for something sweeter. “For the kids, it’s the honey chicken,” Camila added.
In that recipe, wings and drumettes get marinated and baked, and then drizzled with honey before going under the broiler. Matthew chimed in with one of their more hearty favourites.

“Loudermilk” just got a whole lot louder.
In December 2023 on Amazon Prime Video, the Peter Farrelly comedy starring Ron Livingston (who plays the titular Loudermilk), Will Sasso, and Anja Savcic ranked 828th among all streaming shows, according to Reelgood. Now on Netflix, it’s ninth.
Even “Suits” could get jealous of that bump.
Each month, Reelgood measures what it calls 20 million “viewing decisions” on 25,000 shows across more than 200 streaming platforms. Check out the measurement app’s aptly titled “Rise from Obscurity” line graph for “Loudermilk,” as shared with IndieWire:

Before you wave off Reelgood’s methodology, let’s check in with Nielsen, the TV ratings giant.
In its first three weeks on Netflix, “Loudermilk” has made Nielsen’s Top 10 chart for acquired streaming programs each week: eighth twice and 10th once. As an Amazon Prime Video series, “Loudermilk” never charted — and it is safe that say it never came close.

What was old was extremely new on Netflix in January and even into this month.
Specifically, the Peter Farrelly-created dramedy series about addiction, Loudermilk, which was barely found in its original run on the now-unplugged AT&T Audience Network, became a must-see show on the streamer six-plus years after its original airing.
In Nielsen’s Top 10 for Streaming Originals (January 8-14), Loudermilk ranked No. 8 with 846 million viewing minutes.
But even before that list was published, Loudermilk was showing signs of life across the streamer’s own Top 10 charts. Loudermilk Season 1 was in the Netflix Top 10 most-viewed shows in the U.S. for four weeks with a peak rank of No. 4 during the week of January 15-21. Season 2 of Loudermilk ranked in the Netflix top 10 stateside during the week of July 28.

Ron Livingston has found his niche as a glorious curmudgeon in the show Loudermilk, upgrading his character work from Office Space. Livingston's portrayal of Sam Loudermilk in Loudermilk feels like a seasoned version of his Office Space character, delivering lines with sarcasm and a half-smile. Loudermilk is a reluctant hero who offers growling friendship to those who deserve it, making it a hero's journey where the hero is angry at the path he has to tread.
There are few cult classics like Office Space, the workplace comedy that looked at how much people hate their jobs. However, actor Ron Livingston seems to have found his niche once again with the show Loudermilk. Unhappy, a bit grumpy, and annoyed by those around him. These are the qualities of his two most beloved characters.
Loudermilk is now in its third season, and Livingston seems to have found his clearly defined role as a glorious curmudgeon.

The ‘Interstellar’ star Matthew McConaughey is taking a stroll down memory lane. The actor, 54, shared a post on Instagram in which he looked back at “highlights” of the past 15 years in a candid New Year’s message.
He began his note: “McConaughey here! I know we got New Year’s just around the corner, and every New Year’s we always want to think about New Year’s resolutions, about changes that we want to make, but I just want to remind us that just because we got the things we want to change does not mean that we can’t also look back and appreciate some of the things that maybe we pulled off in the past and past successes,” reports People magazine.
Then singling out becoming a father and writing his first book, Greenlights, as important moments in his life, the actor continued: “Just because I talk a lot about the journey,...

Rus Livingston was a victim, not a villain, and paid the ultimate price when Invincible ended his life to stop the spread of the Sequids. Angstrom Levy could have found redemption, but his life was tragically ended when he was decapitated by Robot during a sudden betrayal. The Guardians of the Globe, the world's greatest defenses, were brutally slaughtered by Omni-Man, leaving only the Immortal as the sole survivor of the shocking and violent betrayal.
Warning! Major spoilers for Invincible ahead! While much of Invincible’s cast manages to survive some truly epic injuries, not everyone makes it out of the story alive. Sure, some characters have access to powerful technology or are blessed with the Viltrumites' amazing healing factor. But some characters can only take so much before their bodies wind up giving out. Death isn’t an uncommon sight, but for certain characters, it’s an absolute shock seeing them finally perish.

Last month, Matthew McConaughey’s wife Camila Alves revealed that her mother-in-law used to “test” her at the start of their relationship; now, McConaughey is reacting to his mom’s former strategy.
During a podcast interview last month, Alves explained how McConaughey’s mother, Mary Kathlene McCabe — nicknamed “Ma Mac” by the family — would do “all kinds of stuff” to her when she entered the picture, including calling Alves by the actor’s exes names.
“You don’t get into the McConaughey family easily.”
While speaking to Et Canada’s Cheryl Hickey in a new interview, McConaughey admitted it’s true, explaining: “My family is big on rites of passage and initiation, and you don’t get into the McConaughey family easily.”
“My family, we humbly wait, we make you cry, and then we pick you up and make your favourite drink.”
“We test you. And even in our own...

Premiering on Sept. 9, 2001, World War II miniseries Band of Brothers is one of the most impressive shows in HBO‘s already-impressive TV canon. Based on historian Stephen E. Ambrose’s 1992 non-fiction book of the same name and produced by cinematic titans Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks, Band of Brothers offers an unflinching look at the horrors of war and the American heroes of Easy Company that would endure them to help bring down the Third Reich.
The 10 episodes presented in the show’s sole season are pitch-perfect television and now they’re about to be made available to an even wider audience. Alongside its spiritual cousin The Pacific (which follows the Pacific Theater of WWII), Band of Brothers is available to stream on Netflix as of Sept. 15. This comes as part of a Warner Bros. initiative to expand the availability of some of its classic television titles. Previous HBO series...

From the moment Star Trek began, Spock was a character who captivated fans' imaginations. However, actor Leonard Nimoy was the member of the original cast most reluctant to return in future projects. So much so that before Paramount decided to make a feature film, Star Trek: Phase II was going to replace Spock with a new Vulcan character named Xon.
In between the creation of Star Trek: The Animated Series and The Motion Picture, Paramount couldn't decide what they wanted to do with the show. In the years since it went off the air, Star Trek: The Original Series only grew more popular in syndication. Paramount knew there was money to be made by bringing it back. Yet, they couldn't commit to how to do it. There were a number of attempts to find a feature script that worked, including the Star Trek: Planet of the Titans movie. Eventually, rather than make a low-budget film,...

Ten years after Star Trek was unceremoniously canceled by NBC, The Motion Picture hit the box office. It was a hit financially, but audiences, critics and even the cast felt the film wasn't the universe at its best. However, the hunt for a Star Trek movie was long and fraught, with the studio giving up and going back to television. Star Trek: The Motion Picture was born from the ashes of a pilot episode for the Phase II series that would've brought the Enterprise back to the small screen.
Paramount long wanted to launch its own broadcast network, which it eventually did with its failed United Paramount Network. Still, like Enterprise tried to do, the studio wanted its most profitable franchise to anchor its programming. Thus, series creator Gene Roddenberry was brought in to create Star Trek: Phase II. Other attempts to make a movie failed, like the infamous Star...
