Rapper Post Malone Takes On Country Music

Post Malone made a name for himself for his rap music. He made a surprise appearance at the 57th annual CMA Awards in November 2023. He joined Morgan Wallen and Hardy in a tribute to the late country singer Joe Diffie, who died in 2020. The rapper joined them for performances of Diffie’s hits, “John Deere Green” and “Pickup Man.”

Could Post Malone be among the nominees for the 2024 CMA Awards? It is entirely possible. Fans immediately began begging the rapper to record and release a country music album after his collab with Wallen and Hardy.

Post Malone has set his debut at Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry on August 14th — taking place just days ahead of the release of his country album, F-1 Trillion.

Opry member Brad Paisley announced the concert through the venue’s social media, extending an official invitation to the fledgling “hillbilly singer” for the “first of many appearances.” Besides Paisley, Malone will be joined by Vince Gill, Lainey Wilson, John Michael Montgomery, and the War and Treaty.

John Michael Montgomery suffered cuts and broken ribs when his tour bus crashed early Saturday.

Montgomery told fans in a Facebook post on the accident that he’s “doing well,” but will not be out on the road for a while. Montgomery and two other men were injured in the crash.

The accident happened as the bus was nearing Kentucky, Montgomery’s home state. The vehicle “veered off the interstate, struck an embankment, and overturned,” according to a report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

The report says Montgomery was traveling in a 2001 Prevost Featherlite bus.

He wrote, “I am grateful to the medics and highway patrol for their quick response to this difficult situation.”

The next stop on his tour is scheduled for September 24 in Indiana.

County singer John Michael Montgomery is recovering from a “serious” bus accident. On Friday, the 57-year-old and two others were injured when his tour bus crashed in Tennessee near the Kentucky state line.

“Yesterday we had a serious accident on the way to a concert in North Carolina. Everyone that was on the bus is recovering from their injuries,” the singer shared with fans in a statement posted to Facebook. “Despite some cuts and broken ribs, I am doing well. I will take some time over the next couple of weeks to heal and be back on the road soon.”

According to a Tennessee Highway Patrol report obtained by Wate 6, Montgomery was a passenger on a 2001 Prevost Featherlite bus traveling south on I-75 just south of Jellico when it veered off the interstate, struck an embankment and overturned.

The Alabama country singer closed out Monday night’s live performance episode, putting his own spin on John Michael Montgomery‘s hit “I Swear.” The performance earned him a standing ovation from all four coaches and landed him at #4 on iTunes at the time voting closed on Tuesday, December 11.

Washington -- Music's biggest night came to Washington Wednesday at the annual Grammys on the Hill Awards, which honored Jennifer Hudson with the Recording Artist Coalition Award for her philanthropic and artistic achievements.

For every exhilarating Casey Abrams, there was a soul-crushing disappointment of Sundance Head proportions. (Oh the humanity, Tim Halperin!) Still, a trio of final performances (and a couple others) kept the momentum of "Idol X: Lauren Alaina or Bust" going strong.

And most of them have arrived with their styles defined, and the judges inclined to praise - maybe overpraise? - the hopeful singers. "You're going to be receiving a lot of letters from home," Steven Tyler told 17-year-old Scotty McCreery after his performance during "American Idol's" Mar. 1 episode. Yes, it was a pretty cheesy statement, but still true. Scotty is definitely one of the fan favorites out of the Top 12 guys.

McCreery stuck to his roots and went full-out country, deciding to perform John Michael Montgomery's "Letters From Home."

Scotty's voice sounded great and the song was the perfect choice for his fanbase.Tyler praised the song choice and said it was beautiful, Jennifer Lopez told him he was born to do country music (we concur!) and Randy Jackson, the toughest judge out of the three to please, also dug it.

The voting portion of American Idol‘s tenth season is officially underway, and by Thursday night, brutal cuts will be hitting us in the face like dodgeballs in a middle-school gym. The murdered father of former Saturday Night Live cast member Cheri Oteri was a man "people looked to make peace,” says his son, Brian. Gaetano Thomas Oteri, a music publisher in Nashville, was fatally stabbed in the wrist with a pocketknife Saturday night by his friend, songwriter Rich Fagan. The murder happened after a drunken fight in the Nashville home the two shared, say police. But Brian Oteri told The Tennessean that the scenario was out of character for his father, who rarely drank to excess. “I can't remember him once raising his voice to me. The father of former SNL cast member Cheri Oteri was stabbed to death on Saturday in Nashville, Tenn. Authorities have arrested and charged country songwriter Richard Fagan, 61, with criminal homicide in the death of Gaetano Thomas Oteri, 69, the Associated Press reports. Oteri, known as "Tom," was Fagan's roommate as well as his longtime music associate and publisher. According to the local NewsChannel 5, the incident took place at Fagan's home in South Nashville on Saturday night. The Tennessean newspaper reports that Fagan was arrested Saturday night for a Dui. The songwriter told police that a fight had occurred around 9 p.m.
