How ‘For All Mankind’ Rewrites Gender Politics Through Queer Identity and Female Power in Space
Image
In For All Mankind, when the Soviet Union lands a female cosmonaut on the Moon, President Nixon demands that NASA do the same. This results in the creation of a fictional initiative called the Women Astronauts Program. As the name suggests, it allows female candidates to participate in spaceflight training. Some of the women who join are Danielle Poole (Krys Marshall), Tracy Stevens (Sarah Jones), Molly Cobb (Sonya Walger), and Ellen Waverly (Jodi Balfour).

The Apple TV+ original show reimagines an alternate world by changing this one moment in history. The show sets off a chain of events that forces NASA to diversify its operations and adopt gender equality long before it happened in reality. The show introduces and centers storylines of the first American woman on the Moon and a closeted astronaut who struggles with keeping her identity a secret in a world where she can lose her career because of it.

‘Sugar’: Jin Ha, Laura Donnelly & Tony Dalton Join Apple Series For Season 2
Image
Exclusive: Sugar, starring and executive produced by Colin Farrell, has added three new series regulars for next season: Jin Ha, Laura Donnelly, Tony Dalton

Ha is one of the stars of Apple TV+’s historical drama Pachinko, which is still on the bubble, awaiting word on a Season 3 renewal. His casting in Sugar would not impact Pachinko; he would be able to do both.

The following contains major spoilers from Chicago Fire Season 13, Episode 11, "In the Trenches, Part 1," which debuted Wednesday, Jan. 29 on NBC.

Chicago Fire Season 13, Episode 11, "In the Trenches, Part 1" is the start of the first One Chicago crossover in years. As such, there are sky-high expectations for it. Audiences always want the crossover events to be huge, but particularly after all of that anticipation, this one has to be massive. And it's up to the original One Chicago series to set the table for that.

"In the Trenches, Part 1" thus feels like the first part of a three-act play, in both great and bad ways. It successfully raises the stakes higher than usual, and wastes no time incorporating characters from Chicago Med and Chicago P.D.

Sugar season 2, starring Colin Farrell, confirmed at AppleTV+
Colin Farrell
AppleTV+ has renewed Sugar, a mystery drama starring Colin Farrell, for season 2. More on the news below.

AppleTV+ really is on top of the TV game at the moment. They’re getting ready to finally release Silo season 2 in November and they’ve found great success with shows like Slow Horses, Ted Lasso and Severance to mention a few. A lot of their success seems to come from the streaming service’s willingness to renew their shows for new seasons and allowing the characters and narratives to develop over time.

The latest TV series getting the green light for another season is Sugar, as Variety reports. The mystery drama / tech noir stars Colin Farrell as Detective John Sugar, who investigates the disappearance of a movie mogul’s granddaughter while also confronting some of his own demons.

Colin Farrell's Divisive Mind-Blower Sugar Gets a Surprise Season 2
Image
Known for having the biggest twist in any show this year, Sugar will continue to blow minds in an upcoming second season from Apple TV+. The first season followed John Sugar (Colin Farrell), a mysterious private investigator trying to figure out the disappearance of Olivia Siegel, the granddaughter of a legendary Hollywood producer. However, as the show unfolded, the gritty crime drama turned into something else entirely, bewildering many while captivating others. Clearly, Sugar did more than enough to score a renewal.

The finale of the eight-episode first season of Sugar left things open for a continuation of the series, primarily featuring Sugar taking on new cases across America. Due to its subversive nature, the neo-noir series had a very low-key debut on Apple TV+, and it honestly seemed only avid subscribers of the platform tuned in for it. It's not clear if it was a smash-hit for the streaming...

Sugar was one of the two best detective series to air in some time, and Apple TV+ has faith that the story can continue.

Colin Farrell is a very busy man. He’s currently playing Oz Cobb on the HBO series The Penguin, but he’s got enough energy and talent to star in two shows.

In the Apple TV+ series, Farrell plays John Sugar, a private detective who is incredibly compassionate toward his clients and everyone else.

Apple TV's Sugar Explained by X-Men Producer Simon Kinberg and Audrey Chon
Image
Sugar immediately introduced itself as one of the coolest, most stylish, and downright enigmatic series of the year when the first episodes premiered on Apple TV+ on April 5. He specializes in finding missing people, and is contacted by a rich movie producer whose granddaughter has been missing for two weeks. Farrell reports to his secretive handler, played by Kirby Howell-Baptiste, and is thrust into a world of crime, L.A. style.

Just when you think Sugar is a traditional detective series, the show surprises you with aesthetic flourishes and seemingly unexplainable mysteries. That's fitting when you consider the show is created and written by Mark Protosevich, who created the crime fantasy masterpiece The Cell with Jennifer Lopez and wrote I Am Legend with Will Smith. Sugar is a series you stick with,...
