Shadow & Bone: Cast & Character Guide Of Grishaverse Fantasy Adaptation Starring Ben Barnes
Image
Shadow & Bone: A Throwback To The Cast & Character Guide!(Photo Credit –Instagram)

Fantasy shows continue to be among the most popular picks among youth, and Shadow and Bone is one such series that managed to make its place in the hearts of fans. The adaptation is based on the Grishaverse books by Leigh Bardugo, which consist of Shadow and Bone and Six of Crows.

Both book series are set in the same Grisha universe and were thus combined into one show by Netflix, starring Ben Barnes, the most popular actor to star in the series. Here’s a look back at who played which roles in both seasons of Shadow and Bone, which premiered in April 2021.

Shadow & Bone: Cast & Character Guide Jessie Mei Li as Alina Starkov

Alina is the Sun Summoner who was raised as an orphan. She worked as a cartographer in Ravka’s First Army,...

Netflix's Canceled Shadow And Bone Spin-Οff Could Have Been Incredible
Image
This post contains spoilers for Leigh Bardugo's Grishaverse.

Netflix has abruptly canceled many of its beloved original series over the years, despite fan outcry, but the most egregious instances of cancellation are stories that ended with intriguing cliffhangers, leaving the fate of these fictional worlds up in the air. One such instance is Netflix's "Shadow and Bone," whose season 2 finale concluded with Sun Summoner Alina (Jessie Mei Li) thwarting an assassination at great personal cost, hinting at a delicious moral dilemma to come. Sadly, we were robbed of a storyline in which Alina gets to navigate the root of her newfound shadow powers, which stand in stark contrast to her Sun Summoner abilities.

Despite its abrupt cancellation, "Shadow and Bone" had a more-than-decent two-season run, and it was able to flesh out the most complex aspects of Leigh Bardugo's novel series with self-assured panache. As expected from any YA...

Michael Crichton & James Patterson Bestseller ‘Eruption’ Being Adapted By Kaz & Ryan Firpo For Sony
Image
Exclusive: Following Jurassic World Rebirth‘s $322 million-plus global opening weekend, Sony has hired writers Kaz Firpo and Ryan Firpo to adapt Eruption, the No. 1 New York Times bestseller from Michael Crichton and James Patterson.

At the same time, we understand that the project, which Sony won in a competitive auction last summer in a major deal, is now an open directing assignment with Free Solo filmmakers Jimmy Chin and Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi having exited.

Eruption, which Crichton started writing before his death in 2008 and which was completed by Patterson, follows a history-making volcano explosion that is about to wipe away the big island of Hawaii. However, a secret held for decades by the U.S. military is far more terrifying than any volcano. The two blockbuster authors have combined worldwide sales of more than 700 million books.

Eruption is being produced by Sherri Crichton, Patterson, and Shane Salerno and The Story Factory.

Image
When you purchase through our links, we may earn an affiliate commission.

2025 is halfway over, and for the most part, films this year have been massively disappointing, including the supposedly final Mission: Impossible film and most of the Netflix original films that came out this year. While it is true that most Netflix original films that were released this year are not that good, there were also some extremely entertaining films, from Tom Hardy‘s gritty action thriller film Havoc to Vince Vaughn‘s touching comedy film Nonnas. So, we decided to compile a list of the best Netflix original films that came out in 2025.

Exterritorial Credit – Netflix

Exterritorial is a German action thriller film written and directed by Christian Zübert. The 2025 film follows Sara Wulf, a former Special Forces soldier visiting the US Consulate in Germany with her son, but when he suddenly goes missing, she does everything she can to find him.

The 12 Best Star Wars Spin-Offs, Ranked
Image
For decades, the "Star Wars" franchise has stood as one of the biggest and most beloved science fiction franchises in the world, a distinction that has only grown over time. The main storyline within "Star Wars" is the Skywalker Saga, a nine-film series spanning three trilogies that launched the franchise in 1977. Of course, given the space opera property's ubiquitous success, the franchise has grown to include numerous spin-off movies and television shows. The history of these spin-offs dates as far back as the infamous 1978 "Star Wars Holiday Special," but subsequent expansions of the franchise have been much better received.

The amount of "Star Wars" spin-offs has drastically increased over the past several years, continuing the legacy of the franchise since the Skywalker Saga's conclusion in 2019. This expansion has primarily been on television, with both acclaimed live-action and animated projects set in the universe's various time periods. But there have also...

Marshmallow Movie Ending Explained & Full Story: Is Collins Dead?
Image
Camp slasher films are fairly mainstream at this point, but the genre has largely failed to evolve, with only a handful of watchable entries appearing every couple of years. The classic formula of blood-soaked mayhem and a masked killer on a forest rampage doesn’t land like it used to, unless you’re Art the Clown or Mr. Jingles from AHS: 1984, who actually manage to make you check under the bed before sleeping. Director Andy Greskoviak’s latest sci-fi horror, Marshmallow, takes a fresh approach, putting young kids at the center of the action while the adults anchor the tone just right. While Marshmallow doesn’t deliver outright scares, it leans into atmospheric tension and features a villain with a visually captivating costume, making it a very fun watch on a Saturday night.

Spoilers Ahead

Daddy-Daughter Review: A break from Andor and still enjoying Star Wars Resistance
Image
After my young daughter goes to bed, my wife and I have been watching Andor and enjoying it like the rest of the fanbase. But before we tuck her in, Brooklyn and I still have to finish watching Star Wars Resistance. For me, it's a break from the dramatic storyline displayed in Andor, and I can enjoy the continued storyline that can teach Brooklyn valuable lessons.

In the fifth episode, "The Engineer," Brooklyn had many observations, mostly about her favorite female characters. One note she pointed out is that Synara San is clearly a better shooter than Kazuda "Kaz" Xiono. She lights up anytime Synara is seen in an episode. In probably the biggest hot take, Brooklyn thinks the ball female droid, Cb-23, is cuter than Bb-8. She has not said why, other than she likes the girl droid's colors and the noises Cb makes.

Star Wars Resistance - "The...

'Wonder Woman's Gal Gadot & 'Supergirl' Star to Lead WWII Thriller 'Ruin'
Image
Turn back the calendar to December 2017. Matthew "Kaz" Firpo and Ryan Firpo's script Ruin was awarded the No. 1 spot on The Black List, which is Hollywood’s annual tribute to the year’s collection of top screenplays which have not yet been produced. At that time, over seven years ago, the Dceu’s Wonder Woman, Gal Gadot, was already in talks to star in the historical drama. Today, it’s been confirmed that Gadot will indeed team up with Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow’s Matthias Schoenaerts in the story written by Kaz and Ryan Firpo, both of whom penned the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s lackluster Eternals (2021).

Justin Kurzel was originally slated to direct the World War II flick, but the film is now being helmed by Niki Caro. Gadot also serves as a producer on the project via Pilot Wave Motion Pictures, while Caro will be tasked with producing...

Gal Gadot Is Ditching the Tiara for Trauma in ‘Ruin,’ After ‘Snow White’ Downfall
Image
Mark your watchlists, a new Gal Gadot movie is in the works. We’re still reeling from all the controversy surrounding that subpar Snow White remake. Regardless, the actor who became a household name with Wonder Woman has no time for such trivialities in life. She has been busy lately. And from the looks of things, it’s for all the right reasons.

Soon, everyone will forget about Snow White’s politically charged backlash that (quite distastefully) managed to drag even the Israel-Palestine conflict into its midst. That’s just how Hollywood’s ruthless engine has functioned for a long time. Nevertheless, Gadot’s new movie is bound to give many talking heads something new to talk about. After all, she’s stepping into the shoes of a “newly released camp prisoner” in post-wwii Germany.

Gal Gadot, Matthias Schoenaerts to Star in World War II Thriller ‘Ruin’ for Director Niki Caro
Image
Gal Gadot and Matthias Schoenaerts are looking for justice in their World War II feature Ruin.

Niki Caro is directing the thriller movie from a script by Kaz Firpo and Ryan Firpo (Eternals) that topped the Black List in 2017, with Gadot and Schoenaerts set to star. Principal photography is aiming to begin in early 2026, with The Veterans overseeing international sales rights and taking the project to Cannes buyers this month. UTA Independent Film Group, WME Independent and CAA Media Finance are handling U.S. rights.

Ruin is set in the rubble of Germany following World War II, with a newly released camp prisoner (Gadot) forming an alliance with a German soldier (Schoenaerts) as they both seek revenge on a Nazi Schutzstaffel unit.

Caro serves as producer alongside Marc Butan for MadRiver Pictures and Gadot and Jason Varsano for Pilot Wave Motion Pictures. Executive producing are Gillian Hormel for Ludascripts and Mary Aloe for Aloe Entertainment,...

“It’s Frustrating”: Jessie Mei Li Is Torn Over ‘Shadow and Bone’ Season 3's Cancellation & Future Potential
Image
Netflix's Shadow and Bone ran for two seasons on the streamer, and just as things were about to start heating up in the Grishaverse, Netflix decided to pull the plug. The show, which was based on the work ofLeigh Bardugo, was canceled, concealing the fate of all concerned to the pages of novels alone. Jessie Mei Li led the show, starring as Alina Starkov, with Mal (Archie Renaux), helping the protagonist develop a best friend-to-lover arc before the story ended in 2023. "It was just the most amazing time," Li said to The Hollywood Reporter concerning the show and its cancellation. "It’s obviously devastating that it was canceled, but also it felt like we ended it on a high. Sometimes these shows go on and on and on. We had two of the best years of my life. It was so good. And we’re all just super close still.

Daddy-Daughter Review: Starting Star Wars Resistance season 2
Image
After she made me watch the first season episode, "Bibo," one more time, my daughter, Brooklyn, and I finally started Season 2 of Star Wars Resistance. The second season has a lot more stakes for the characters and continues on the first season's path of very strong progression for each of the characters.

Brooklyn seems to have grasped that concept while still having plenty to enjoy. In the first episode of the season, "Into the Unknown," Brooklyn enjoyed seeing Cb-23 and even commented that she sounds like a girl droid. During the episode, she was also surprised that General Organa, whom she knows as Princess Leia, showed up, and I had to explain that Leia can and was both a princess and a general.

Towards the end of "Into the Unknown," the most poignant moment was when Brooklyn realized that Tam Ryvora was working for the First Order, and she actually...

Daddy-Daughter Review: Finishing Star Wars Resistance Season 1
Image
After my young daughter Brooklyn finally got over her Bibo obsession, she and I decided to finish the first season of Star Wars Resistance. We both thoroughly enjoyed finishing the exciting conclusion to many character arcs for the season, and she was very curious about what would happen.

In the "The Core Problem," I though Brooklyn would be upset after Bb-8 left the show to go on his adventures in the films. If you aren't aware, Season 1 ends during The Force Awakens timeline. However, she fell in love instantly with Cb-23. For many reasons, Brooklyn loved this new addition, such as Cb-23 being a girl droid and being funnier than Bb-8.

As the season was wrapping up and Kaz, Torra, and Captain Doza were beginning to take on the First Order, she got very invested in the storyline. She liked that Yeager saved Kaz Xiono, and then Kaz, in turn,...

Star Wars: Visions remembered: The Village Bride
Image
With season two of Star Wars: Visions coming in 2023, I wanted to look back at each short from season one and celebrate why they’re great. This is Visions Remembered.

Out of all of the Star Wars: Visions shorts, The Village Bride was the one submitted to the Academy Awards for consideration. While it didn’t get an Oscar nod, this short from the studio Kinema Citrus is worth looking at why out of all of them they decided it was the best choice. It’s also a decision that I agree with. While I think that The Duel, The Elder, or The Ninth Jedi could have been in the running too, I think The Village Bride does have that Oscars edge to it.

It is the total package for an anime Star Wars episode. While I will praise the heck out of The Ninth Jedi’s character designs in the next entry,...

Daddy-Daughter Review: Bibo is a standout for my daughter
Image
I've been thoroughly enjoying going through Season 1 of Star Wars Resistance with my young daughter Brooklyn. We recently just finished the 16th episode "The New Trooper," and she had some opinions to share.

Brooklyn has caught onto several things as she continues to watch the show. When we were watching "Secret and Holograms," she laughed when Torra's pet Buggles did anything funny. She also was very hopeful that Kaz would be able to spy properly, telling him to hide under the desk.

She also became very interested in the character Synara San, who is currently working under cover for the pirates. Brooklyn has shared in the past and continues to hope that she hopes Synrara will become good throughout the episodes we have watched. She also thinks Kazuda "Kaz" Xiono has a crush on Synara.

Towards the end of Synara's first arc on the show, Brooklyn thinks that the pirate...

Sarah Michelle Gellar asks for fans’ patience with Buffy the Vampire Slayer revival
Image
Bringing back any series puts a lot of pressure on the cast and crew. Once you take into account the sort of loyal cult following Buffy the Vampire Slayer has, it only gets heightened. Sarah Michelle Gellar knows this better than anyone else involved, but she is ready to continue hyping the revival, informing fans that things are officially moving on the pre-production side.

Speaking with People, Gellar said that Buffy the Vampire Slayer now has offices set up, “which means things are progressing probably faster than I’d anticipated. But it’s going to be a process, I think…To do it the way it needs to be done, everyone has to be patient with all of us, because this isn’t something that [will just happen].” In other words, the big moments are gonna come.

Gellar also noted that she loves that Buffy the Vampire Slayer continues to develop its audience...

Daddy-Daughter Review: Excited for Resistance's story
Image
Brooklyn knows if she asks to watch Amazon Prime Sports with me, I will not send her to bed early. She is trying that tactic while we watch Star Wars Resistance.

So far, we are about halfway through the first season, our last episode being "The Platform Classic." The Colossus is currently still bustling with starship races and dealing with pirates, while Kaz is on his mission for the Resistance and finding out more about the First Order.

It has been enjoyable to see what Brooklyn points out. Such as saying that Bb-8 always has a plan, in that he always helps out Kaz when is he is in trouble. She also compared the Chelidae, who are the native species of Castilon and the engineers on the ship, to the humorous sloths in Zootopia.

She also was ecstatic to see Synara San for the first time. I had bought her...

Celebrating female star pilots in Star Wars
Image
In 1983, several actresses filmed scenes as star pilots in the Battle of Endor for Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi. However, they did not make it into the final cut of the film or dubbed over as men. Since then, though, there have been many female star pilots in both the Star Wars films and series.

In 1999, George Lucas rectified the omission 16 years later in The Phantom Menace. British actress Celia Imrie portrayed Naboo starfighter Dinee Ellberger. The character assisted the Jedi and Naboo's liberation of the planet against the Trade Federation.

With the exception of Solo: A Star Wars Story, the four other films released under Disney have featured female star pilots. In The Force Awakens, Jessica Henwick portrayed X-Wing pilot Jessika Pava. Henwick was a finalist for the role of Rey and won over director J.J. Abrams to give her a role in the film.

Saturday Night Live and its Star Wars legacy
Image
In a few weeks, the sketch comedy show Saturday Night Live, better known as SNL, will turn 50. The legendary series has been a part of popular culture since it started in 1975. The show itself has seen too many memorable sketches to count. That includes those they deemed to have fun with the Star Wars franchise and featuring alumni who appeared in the franchise.

Let's look at some of the best Star Wars moments in Saturday Night Live

In 1978, a year after A New Hope was released, a sketch became a part of Star Wars lore. Comedian Bill Murray portrayed a lounge singer and sang a new tune using John Williams's main theme. "Star Wars, nothing but Star Wars" has become a popular song in both franchises and displays Murray's comedic talent. It also displayed how far Star Wars had come in relation to popular culture.

In 1999, a memorable sketch...

‘Tna: Genesis 2025’ PPV Review #2
Image
Tna Genesis is upon us and we have an action-packed card ahead of us. Of course, with the recent announcement of the Tna WWE Nxt partnership, it was going to be interesting to see if this took effect immediately and how this would look. Hendry takes on Nemeth for the world title and could this be his last attempt. Grace looks to settle the score with a monster Tessa Blanchard. Masha Slamovich is defending against Rosemary, the youngest in charge Leon Slater facing up to Kaz and Moose giving Ace Austin a shot at the X-Division title and way way more.

The impact (pun intended) was felt right off the bat on the countdown show with Miss Nxt Ariana Grace showing up to hint at a host of Nxt faces popping up at Genesis ( let’s hope not too many) before Ashante Adonis interrupts to cut a promo in the...

Give Star Wars Resistance a try if you haven't! It's Andor for kids
Image
Star Wars Resistance is a series that I am passionate about and always ready to defend. However, it's very much the dark horse of the franchise, often forgotten in the run of other shows. Now that it's been out for a few years, I think it's a good time to look at it again, discuss how it's the most unlucky of the Star Wars series, and why you should try it if you haven't. That's because Star Wars Resistance is Andor for kids!

Resistance's Unlucky Run Set the Stage For Star Wars TV After It

When Resistance was first released, some fans gave it a lot of criticism. It was heavily compared to The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels. This is a bit of an unfair circumstance because Resistance does not function like its predecessors. It was doing something that Star Wars TV hadn't done up to that...

The Challenge’s Tori Deal called out by fans for remarks about her ex-fiance on Season 40
Image
With so many different personalities assembled in the cast for The Challenge: Battle of the Eras, there are plenty of friends, rivals, hookups, and exes.

Several of those exes are part of the Era 3 team, as Jordan Wiseley is teammates with his ex-fiancee, Tori Deal.

The couple has experienced difficult times in recent seasons, as Jordan joined the Ride or Dies cast late and partnered with Tori’s best friend, Aneesa Ferreira.

That brought emotional moments throughout the season, with Tori often confronting Jordan, and sometimes she was left in tears.

They finally got on the same page, at least as friends and allies, but working as teammates is another story.

The Challenge revealed sneak peek footage from Season 40, with fans calling out Tori for her commentary about Jordan.

A Cancelled HBO Show With 19% Rt Score Now Has More Emmys Than Better Call Saul, & Fans Are Fuming

HBO's The Idol now has more Emmy Award wins than Better Call Saul. While Better Call Saul was critically acclaimed, The Idol was cancelled after its five-episode first season, and received a 19% critical score and 41% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. Nevertheless, Better Call Saul never won any Emmy Awards, and The Idol now has an Emmy for Outstanding Choreography for Scripted Programming.

‘Tna Wrestling’ Review (Aug 22nd 2024)
Image
Welcome to this week’s review of Tna Wrestling, Let’s get straight into the review and see what went down on the show…

Match #1: Hammerstone def. Frankie Kazarian and Kushida The following is courtesy of tnawrestling.com:

Hammerstone dominated early with a massive belly-to-belly suplex on both Frankie Kazarian and Kushida. After Kazarian attempted to ambush Hammerstone from behind, he quickly retreated, only to be caught in a double-team beatdown by Hammerstone and Kushida. Hammerstone sent Kazarian crashing face-first into the steps, but Kazarian nearly stole the win with a slingshot cutter! Just as it seemed Kazarian was on his way to Ultimate X, Kushida intervened, but Kaz was quick to counter with a leg drop. Kushida teased a mist just as Kazarian was about to hit Fade to Black, then locked in the Hoverboard Lock. However, Hammerstone powered through, reversing it into the Nightmare Pendulum to secure the victory!

Saving Bikini Bottom Review | A Nutty Adventure for Kids & Die-Hard Fans
Image
Sandy Cheeks gets a chance to shine in a supremely silly rescue mission with SpongeBob and friends in tow. Goofy musical interludes and a bonkers plot keep the chuckles coming for young fans and die-hard followers. The film runs out of steam and slogs for an unfunny and awkward half an hour before picking up pace and ending with glorious zaniness.

Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie gives SpongeBob SquarePants' beloved neighbor and anthropomorphized genius squirrel her very own adventure with the entire gang in tow. Carolyn Lawrence, who's voiced Sandy with a trademark Texas drawl for a quarter-century, shines in a supremely silly rescue mission that's meant for the youngest tykes and die-hard fans of the show. Goofy musical interludes keep the chuckles coming when the truly nutty plot grasps for straws. Neophytes won't have a clue what's going on, but that's forgivable in this case. Chuck your...
