Shaun of the Dead holds a special place in the pantheon of classic zombie horror movies, a spoof on the horror genre that is as funny as it is genuinely brutal. The spoof, known for its British humor and wit, was one of the many reasons for the film's success. However, the film's star, Simon Pegg, recently shared that while they never changed their true vision for the movie, they altered one joke to better appeal to American audiences.
Shaun of the Dead was the first film in what became known as the Cornetto trilogy, three comedy films directed by Edgar Wright which included Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and The World's End. All three films starred Pegg and Nick Frost, who have been longtime collaborators of Wright's since starring in his hilarious sitcom, Spaced. In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Pegg was asked how Pegg...

The zombie Mary from Shaun of the Dead has a chilling origin story, revealed in a dark comic prologue by Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg. The comic provides a grim backstory, as Mary tries to do the right thing but dies an unjust death. The story has thematic links with The World's End, making it a surprisingly essential addition to the trilogy.
Despite her relatively small role in Shaun of the Dead, the zombie known as 'Mary' has the darkest story in not just the movie, but the entire Cornetto Trilogy. Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg, and Nick Frost's Blood and Ice Cream Trilogy (aka the Cornetto Trilogy) is a comedy masterwork, beginning in 2004 with the rom-zom-com Shaun of the Dead. Now twenty years old, many fans still don't know that Shaun and Ed's first zombie antagonist has a chilling backstory.

Shaun of the Dead fans have something to look forward to in the new year, with a live stage adaptation of the hit 2004 movie going on tour in 2015. There are currently no plans to bring the stage show to the U.S. as of yet, with the production set to tour in the U.K. Shaun of the Dead star Simon Pegg and director Edgar Wright have given their blessing to the production, which debuted in preview shows back in October before starting the full tour next year. The show is being put on by Almost Legal Productions, which offers the following description in an excerpt from the company's official website.
"Life is going nowhere for Shaun. He spends his life in his local pub, with his best mate Ed, has issues with his Mum and step-dad and things aren't running too smoothly with his girlfriend Liz. When Liz dumps him,...

Shaun of the Dead's Shaun (Simon Pegg) and Ed (Nick Frost) return in an animated form with the first clip from Phineas and Ferb's Halloween special, entitled "Night of the Living Pharmacists", airing Saturday, October 4 at 8 Pm Et during Disney Channel's Monstober block of programming.
We repoted in August that Simon Pegg and Nick Frost will voice their characters from the 2004 zombie comedy, but little was known about the story at that time. This episode centers on a new device created by Heinz Doofenshmirtz (Dan Povenmire), which accidentally turn everyone in Danville into "Doof-zombies" who run rampant all over town. While traditional zombies have to bite their victims, Doofenshmirtz's machine allows the transformation to be much easier.
Take a look at the first scene from this weekend's episode, which also features guest stars such as Night of the Living Dead director George A. Romero as reporter Don Adaded,...

Ever since the cult zombie classic Shaun of the Dead hit theaters exactly 10 years ago, many fans have been clamoring for a sequel. While that won't be happening anytime soon, Simon Pegg announced today on his Twitter page that he will reprise his role as Shaun, with Nick Frost returning as Ed for Phineas and Ferb's Halloween special on the Disney Channel this October.
Here’s news, @nickjfrost and myself will be once again stepping into Shaun and Ed’s shoes for the #PhineasAndFerb Halloween special. W00t!!

Of course, it isn't known how these beloved characters Shaun and Ed will fit into the Phineas and Ferb story, but the series has a long history of referencing hit movies since the show first started airing on the Disney Channel back in 2007. The show has referenced hits such as Star Wars, Star Trek, Indiana Jones, E.

Craig here. It's Halloween and the new horror tv series The Walking Dead is nearly upon us. This is what I've been thinking about day-to-day for the last few weeks. So here's a Tuesday Top Ten Special (i.e. it's on the weekend instead... and it's Halloween themed) to get you thinking about all things zombified. Perfect for a day made for the dead. Alive or recently embalmed, all enter here. But shuffle in s-l-o-w-l-y now...
