Peacock has reversed course and canceled the second season of its Pitch Perfect TV spinoff Bumper in Berlin, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

The renewal was first announced back in January, after the show’s first six-episode season debuted on Nov. 23, 2022. At the time of the renewal, NBCU said Bumper in Berlin was the streamer’s top comedy series to date, but has not released any viewing data.

The cancellation comes amid Hollywood’s dual WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, and marks yet another series, alongside the canceled second seasons of Prime Video’s The Peripheral and A League of Their Own, to have the plug pulled during the work stoppage. At the time, A League of Their Own co-creator and star Abbi Jacobson criticized Prime Video’s decision, writing that “to blame this cancellation on the strike is bullshit and cowardly.”

The spinoff of the “Pitch Perfect” film franchise originally debuted on Peacock in November 2022 and was renewed in January 2023. According to an individual with knowledge of the situation, the decision was made to cancel the series as the ongoing strikes in Hollywood meant that production was not able to begin as originally scheduled.

The series saw Adam Devine return as Bumper Allen as he moves to Germany to revive his music career when one of his songs becomes big in Berlin. Along with Devine, the cast of Season 1 included Flula Borg, Sarah Hyland, Lera Abova and Jameela Jamil. Per NBCU, the series scored the biggest comedy premiere in Peacock history, as it was watched by more accounts in its launch weekend than any other Peacock Original comedy to date.

Like was the case of two Prime Video series whose Season 2 renewals were rescinded last month — The Peripheral and A League of Their Own — the cancellation of Bumper In Berlin stems from the length of the work stoppage due to the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, which have delayed production, creating large gaps between seasons and making shows miss their target release dates.

Peacock’s No.1-rated comedy “Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin” will return for a second season, the streamer announced Monday.

Seven years after falling in love on Modern Family, Adam Devine and Sarah Hyland are making sweet music together once again.

The on-screen couple reunites in the first official trailer for Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin, a new Peacock comedy series spun off from the popular movie franchise.

“Pitch Perfect”s biggest personality Bumper Allen (Adam Devine) is taking his show on the road – and across international waters – in the new trailer for Peacock’s “Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin” series.

Picking up several years after the timeline of the trilogy of “Pitch Perfect” movies, “Bumper in Berlin” kicks off when Devine’s character receives word that he’s a viral sensation in Germany thanks to his singing TikToks. “Move to Berlin and work with me,” a fixture of the Berlin music scene named Peter (Flula Borg) tells him. “I can make you a star.”

Once he makes the move, Bumper realizes it won’t be that easy. As he prepares to make his grand debut at Unity Festival – described to him as “the Fourth of July meets the Super Bowl Half-Time Show” – he juggles performance anxiety, rival singers, and falling for his assistant (played by Sarah Hyland...

From the halls of Barden University to the streets of Berlin, Adam Devine is taking his Pitch Perfect character Bumper international in the film’s spinoff series coming to Peacock.

In a new trailer for Bumper in Berlin released on Wednesday, Bumper receives a call that his TikToks have gone viral in Germany and he is invited to move abroad to revive his music career. Along the way, it appears he’ll be met with some culture shock as well as a pop diva rival, played by Jameela Jamil.

But after a few mishaps, Bumper begins to embrace this new opportunity with the help of his team, including his assistant Heidi, played by Sarah Hyland, who he may or may not be falling in love with, and a few new friends. The trailer ends with the promise of a Pitch Perfect signature riff off.

Bumper Allen is going overseas to hit the aca-stage once again.

In the first trailer for Peacock’s forthcoming “Pitch Perfect” spinoff series “Bumper in Berlin,” Adam Devine’s Bumper has some new challenges to conquer on his path to international superstardom –– including Jameela Jamil.

NBC will air the premiere episode of the series and a sneak peek at the season on Nov. 28 following Monday night’s episode of “The Voice,” the network announced. All episodes of “Bumper in Berlin” will be available on Peacock beginning Nov. 23.

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of “Pitch Perfect,” which debuted in theaters on Oct. 5, 2012, “Peacock” is sharing a musical mashup from their upcoming comedy series “Bumper In Berlin.”

In the new video, Bumper (Adam DeVine) mashes up “Take on Me” and “99 Luftballoons,” a mashup that goes viral in Germany and kicks off the action of the “Pitch Perfect” spinoff series.

“Bumper in Berlin” will follow DeVine’s Bumper on his quest to go from an a capella amateur to a bona fide a capella superstar, a journey that takes him all the way to the titular city.

The streaming service on Friday confirmed Sarah Hyland, Lera Abova, and Jameela Jamil had all landed series regular roles.

The Peacock TV series “Pitch Perfect” has added to its growing cast. Joining Adam Devine, whose character, Bumper, the show is centered around, are “Modern Family” alum Sarah Hyland, “The Good Place” star Jameela Jamil and Lera Abova from the 2019 film “Anna,” all in series regular roles.

It was previously announced that Flula Borg, from the popular film franchise, is returning alongside Devine, reprising the role of Piëter Krämer. All three newcomers to the series have connections to both characters.

Hyland will play Heidi, described by Peacock as “Piëter and Bumper’s cheery and slightly odd American assistant. While working on Bumper’s team by day, she secretly harbors dreams of being a singer-songwriter herself and moonlights by performing original songs in a Berlin cabaret.”

The trio joins previously announced series lead Adam Devine and cast member Flula Borg. Strauss-Schulson has previously worked with the actor on 2015 comedy slasher film The Final Girls and 2019 rom-com Isn’t Is Romantic.

He will direct the first two episodes of the series and exec produce the pilot episode.

Richie Keen, who directed Peacock’s Bust Down and NBC’s Kenan, is the producing director and an exec producer across the season.

Over three films, the Pitch Perfect franchise, which was inspired by the Mickey Rapkin book of the same name, collectively grossed nearly $600 million at the worldwide box office.

According to Peacock, the franchise" inspired a generation with its celebration of unapologetic women, irresistible music and outrageous humor. "

The comedy series will be executive produced by Elizabeth Banks and Max Handelman (Brownstone Productions), Paul Brooks and Scott Neimeyer (Gold Circle Films), as well as Adam Devine and Megan Amram.

Brownstone and Gold Circle produced all three films in the Pitch Perfect series and Banks directed Pitch Perfect 2, which was the highest opening weekend for a musical in history, the biggest opener for a first-time feature film director, and the second-largest opening for a female director.
