How Many Kids Does Nicholas Cage Have and What Do They Do?
Image
Nicholas Cage is one of Hollywood’s most decorated actors who has worked on brilliant projects in the past. Cage’s career was set, especially since he was born into an artistic family, the Coppolas. His father was August Coppola, who happens to be related to the legendary Francis Ford Coppola and several other big names who have worked in the movie industry.

Cage has been in many relationships over the years, including five marriages. His first marriage was to actress Patricia Arquette (1995-2001), followed by a short stint with Elvis Presley’s daughter, Lisa Marie (2002-04). Then, he married Alice Kim, a waitress who worked in LA. Their marriage lasted for 12 years before ending in 2016.

Longlegs | The personal stories that went into making a singularly effective horror film
Image
Nicolas Cage and director Ozgood Perkins have both talked about the personal histories they mined for Longlegs, one of 2024’s most acclaimed horror films.

You won’t have seen much of Nicolas Cage in the terrific marketing for Longlegs, but you may have heard his character’s breathy, eerie voice: “I know you’re not afraid of a little bit of dark,” he intoned in a trailer released in June. “Because you are the dark.”

In a new – and terrific – interview with The New Yorker, Cage talks about his career to date, and touches on the title character in Longlegs, who he says is “nothing like anyone I’ve played before.”

The conversation is all the more fascinating given that it’s with Susan Orlean, the author and journalist who wrote the book on which Charlie Kaufman’s 2002 comedy Adaptation was (very) loosely based. Midway through the interview, Cage talks about Longlegs,...

Nicolas Cage says his late father often shows up in his dreams
Image
Hollywood star Nicolas Cage says it’s “always a good thing” when his late father August Coppola appears in his dreams. At the Toronto International Film Festival world premiere of his new film ‘Dream Scenario’ which sees Cage’s character star in other people’s dreams, the actor spoke about the recurring figure he looks forward to seeing in his own dreams, reports People magazine.

“I always like it when my father shows up,” Cage said at the event. “I haven’t seen him in person since he passed on. So when he shows up, that’s always a good thing.”

Coppola, whose younger brother is ‘The Godfather’ trilogy director Francis Ford Coppola, died from a heart attack at age 75 in 2009, according to his obituary.

As per People, Cage named his 1-year-old daughter, August Francesca Coppola, after his late father. The actor and wife Riko Shibata welcomed their little girl...

James Wan Reveals Nicolas Cage Almost Played Dracula in Defunct ‘Castlevania’ Adaptation
Nicolas Cage at an event for Drive Angry (2011)
Actor Nicolas Cage finally gave his spin on the world’s most iconic vampire, Dracula, in this year’s Renfield. Director James Wan (Insidious, Saw, The Conjuring) recently revealed on Instagram that Cage nearly played the bloodsucking Count just over a decade ago.

In 2009, Wan revealed that he was in the early process of adapting Castlevania for the big screen. Wan told Bloody Disgusting out of Sdcc that “I’m very fresh on this project, so it’s early stages and I’m still trying to work things out, but the producers love my vision for it. I’ll be working on the script with a writer to give it a new spin, different to the previous versions. This will have my stamp on it which Konami is very excited about.”

While those plans didn’t pan out, it turns out that Wan always knew Cage had an excellent Dracula performance in him.

Nicolas Cage’s Dracula vs. Bela Lugosi: 6 Biggest Differences & Who Is Better
Image
Warning: This post contains spoilers for Renfield

Nicolas Cage is certainly in his element as Renfield’s Count Dracula, and while there are homages to Bela Lugosi’s iteration of the character from 1931’s Dracula, there are quite a few differences as well. Renfield is a continuation of the black-and-white film’s story, with nearly a century having passed, the focus shifts to Renfield, Dracula’s familiar, and his attempts to leave his codependent relationship with his boss.

Cage isn’t the first (or the last) actor to embody the role of Count Dracula, the ancient vampire who seduces and preys on people. The supernaturally-gifted figure has a long history in film, with notable actors such as Ray Liotta, Adam Sandler, Frank Langella, and Luke Evans providing their takes on the character — from live-action to animation. Cage is the latest actor to step into the role, and it immediately brings...

Overlook 2023: Nicolas Cage & Chris McKay on Bringing Dracula (Back) to Life in Renfield
Image
One of the highlights of this year’s Overlook Film Festival was attending the premiere of Renfield, with Nicolas Cage and director Chris McKay in attendance. Having seen the film, I can confidently say that horror fans are going to have a lot of fun with this one. This film has a great energy to it, with an equal mix of horror, comedy, and action that reminded me a lot of the tone of Ash vs. Evil Dead.

Not only did I have a chance to catch up with both Nicolas Cage and Chris McKay on the red carpet prior to the screening, but they took part in a post-screening Q&a. Highlights from both events are below and I’ve kept this spoiler free, only loosely referencing elements that have been shown in the trailer.

Nicolas Cage & Nicholas Hoult Interview: Renfield
Image
Renfield follows Dracula's long-suffering henchman who has loyally served the vampire for years. After meeting Rebecca Quincy, a traffic cop in modern-day New Orleans, he finds a new lease on life. Inspired to break free from his boss, he tries to make a life for himself and do the right thing instead of bloodying his hands on Dracula's behalf. However, this decision brings potentially deadly consequences when Renfield is forced to go toe to toe with Dracula in the hopes of earning his freedom.

Renfield is directed by Chris McKay from a script penned by Ryan Ridley, which is based on Robert Kirkman's story. Renfield features a star-studded cast led by the legendary Nicolas Cage, Nicholas Hoult, Awkwafina, Ben Schwartz, and Shohreh Aghdashloo. Renfield approaches the classic tale of Dracula and Renfield from a completely new perspective, with the henchman's desire to break free from his abusive, narcissistic boss...

Nicolas Cage Wants To Play One Other Universal Classic Monster
Image
Ahead of his turn as iconic bloodsucker Dracula in Renfield, Nicolas Cage reveals the one other Universal Classic Monster he wants to play. Cage will star in the upcoming horror-comedy, which centers on Nicholas Hoult's eponymous servant of Dracula as he attempts to break free from his suffering after having fallen in love with a New Orleans traffic cop. Based on a story treatment from The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman and script from Rick and Morty alum Ryan Ridley, Renfield is already drumming up positive reviews following it festival debut.

In honor of the film's upcoming release, Screen Rant spoke exclusively with Nicolas Cage to discuss Renfield. When asked about his interest in playing another Universal Classic Monster, Cage looked to the Wolf Man, noting the similarity of the part to another iconic role of his, but feeling it to be one that's "powerfully tragic" and right up his alley.

Nicolas Cage denies Renfield method acting claims
Image
Nicolas Cage has dismissed claims that he was method acting during the making of 'Renfield'.The 59-year-old actor stars as Count Dracula in Chris McKay's new horror comedy film but has denied claims made by the director that he did not come out of character during breaks from shooting.Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter at the film's New York premiere, Nicolas said: "I just don't have that recollection, I don't know why Chris said that."I had a lot of laughs in between takes with both Chris McKay and Nick Hoult, so maybe that was his experience, maybe because I still had the fangs in my mouth that made me speak a certain way, but that wasn't my experience."Cage stars opposite Nicholas Hoult in the film, which follows Dracula's tortured assistant as he seeks a life away from serving the vampire, and explained that the blend of humour and horror appealed to him.

Nicolas Cage Dismisses Reports He Went Method as Dracula on ‘Renfield’ Set: “I Had a Lot of Laughs in Between Takes”
Image
Blame it on the fangs.

On the heels of Renfield director Chris McKay saying Nicolas Cage went method on the set while playing Dracula — the filmmaker told Insider “whatever scene we did he would still be 100 percent living in that attitude after we stopped shooting” — the veteran actor recalled his own version of events to The Hollywood Reporter at the film’s New York premiere.

“I just don’t have that recollection, I don’t know why Chris said that,” Cage said. “I had a lot of laughs in between takes with both Chris McKay and Nick Hoult, so maybe that was his experience, maybe because I still had the fangs in my mouth that made me speak a certain way, but that wasn’t my experience.”

Either way, the role requires range for Cage who, after a career of iconic roles, steps into one of the most notable as...

How Renfield’s Dracula Compares To Nic Cage’s Vampire’s Kiss
Image
Though the two may share some DNA with one another, Nicolas Cage is explaining how Renfield's Dracula compares to his turn in Vampire's Kiss. Cage starred in the 1988 black horror comedy as a literary agent who devolves into insanity after a one-night encounter with a woman who bit his neck. Flopping at the box office during its initial release, Vampire's Kiss has since gone on to become a cult classic and one of Cage's most memorable performances, making his Renfield appearance an anticipated one for fans of the actor.

Screen Rant recently spoke exclusively with Nicolas Cage to discuss his upcoming performance as Dracula in the horror-comedy Renfield. After having noted that the film marks a full-circle return to the horror genre after Vampire's Kiss, Cage reflected on how the two differ, namely in the characters living in different contexts of supernatural versus mentally ill. See what Cage explained below:...

Meet Sofia Coppola and Thomas Mars's 2 Kids, Romy and Cosima
Image
Sofia Coppola knows what it's like to be a celebrity kid. The daughter of director Francis Ford Coppola has mostly kept her two kids, Romy and Cosima Mars, out of the spotlight throughout the years. "I don't want them ever to be jaded," Sofia told The Guardian in 2017 on why she shields her kids from the public eye. "I never saw the point of taking little kids to movie premieres and stuff. I just want them to have a childhood."

Things changed, however, when Romy recently shared a TikTok explaining that she'd been grounded for trying to charter a helicopter. "Make a vodka sauce pasta with me because I'm grounded because I tried to charter a helicopter from New York to Maryland on my dad's credit card because I wanted to have dinner with my camp friend," Romy says in the March 21 video. She doesn't go on to make any pasta,...

Nicolas Cage Looked To This Classic Dracula To Inspire His Performance In Renfield
Image
In "Renfield," Nicolas Cage becomes the latest in a long line of actors to play Dracula. The actor previously played a creature of the night in "Vampire's Kiss," but this time, he's playing the lord of all ghouls. However, Cage's Dracula will merely be a supporting player; the star of the movie is his eponymous servant (Nicholas Hoult). After so many years at the Count's side, Renfield is reconsidering if he still wants the job. When your boss is a blood-sucking demon, the severance package probably isn't one you want.

"Reinfeld" looks like it will lean more on the latter side of "horror comedy," so if nothing else, Cage's expressive acting is a good fit. He's already said that he looked toward the utterly bonkers horror film "Malignant" for inspiration, so there's no telling how far he's going to take the character. With so many previous Draculas to draw on,...

Nicolas Cage’s Unusual Dracula Performance Teased By Renfield Star
Image
Renfield star Nicholas Hoult teases Nicolas Cage’s unusual Dracula performance in the comedic horror film. Classic Universal movie monsters have been employed for comedic purposes ever since Abbott and Costello’s famous run of films in the 1940s and ‘50s. Now Cage will try his hand at bringing to life a comedic take on Universal monster Count Dracula in the upcoming Renfield, co-starring Hoult as the titular servant.

That Renfield will be anything but a typical take on Dracula should already have been obvious from the casting of Cage as the iconic vampire. But Hoult just drove the point home again with some new remarks in an interview alongside The Menu co-star Anya Taylor-Joy on BBC Radio 1. Speaking briefly about Renfield, Hoult offered up a tease of co-star Cage’s Dracula performance, remarking upon the weird inspirations Cage drew from in concocting his take on film history’s most famous bloodsucker.

‘Renfield’ – Nicolas Cage Previews His Dracula Voice for Upcoming Universal Monsters Movie [Video]
Nicolas Cage at an event for Drive Angry (2011)
One of the most hotly anticipated horror movies on the horizon is the Universal Monsters movie Renfield, and that’s largely because Nicolas Cage is co-starring as Dracula himself.

Renfield comes to theaters on April 14, 2023, and Cage has shared with Variety this week a tasty little preview of the voice he’ll be employing for his own unique take on Dracula.

“[It’s] kind of an amalgamation of a sort mid-Atlantic August Coppola accent combined with Sir Christopher Lee, with some Anne Bancroft thrown in for good measure,” Cage teases.

Watch the video below for a little taste…

Nicolas Cage recently teased his Dracula in Renfield, noting that the character’s movements have been inspired by horror films including Ringu and even James Wan’s Malignant!

Universal’s Renfield is based on an original pitch from “The Walking Dead” creator Robert Kirkman. Chris McKay (The Tomorrow War) is directing the movie, with Nicholas Hoult (Warm Bodies,...

Nicolas Cage Teases His Dracula Voice: Watch the Actor Give Us a Taste of ‘Renfield’
Image
Next year, Nicolas Cage will be portraying the world’s most famous vampire Dracula in “Renfield,” a horror comedy about the count’s lovestruck familiar. And while the role has been portrayed in film by hundreds of actors over the years — from Bela Lugosi to Gary Oldman — the idiosyncratic actor is set to leave his own unique mark on the horror legend.

During an interview to promote his western drama “Butcher’s Crossing,” Cage spoke in the Variety TIFF Studio, presented by King’s Hawaiian, about developing his own take on the iconic Transylvanian accent of the vampiric count. Specifically, he revealed he took inspiration from Christopher Lee’s famous portrayals of the character while adding other elements to the part — including his own father, academic August Coppola.

“[It’s] kind of an amalgamation of a sort mid-Atlantic August Coppola accent combined with some Christopher Lee, with some Anne Bancroft thrown in for...

Nicolas Cage welcomes first child with wife Riko Shibata, daughter August Francesca
Image
Nicolas Cage’s wife Riko Shibata has given birth to a baby girl, the couple’s first child together.

The 58-year-old actor and his artist wife, 27, welcomed daughter August Francesca Coppola Cage, on Wednesday 7 September in Los Angeles, a rep confirmed to People.

“Nicolas and Riko are happy to announce the birth of their daughter,” the rep said. “Mother and daughter are doing fine.”

The daughter is Shibata’s first child while Cage has two children – Kal-El, 16, and Weston, 31 – from previous relationships.

The name for their new daughter seems to have changed since Cage announced the news on The Kelly Clarkson Show on 26 April.

Sharing the news with his “favourite song ever written”, “Across the Universe” by The Beatles, Cage said: “And her name, because of ‘Across the Universe’, her name is going to be Lennon Augie. Augie after my father,” he said. Cage’s father, August Coppola, died in...

Color Out Of Space Was A Redux Of One Of Nicolas Cage's Weirdest Roles
Image
Nicolas Cage is the kind of actor who can make oddball roles of any variety work in his favor. Over the course of his long and eventful career, Cage has had several meme-worthy moments, which are almost always endearingly hilarious. Take the "How'd it get burned?!!" scene from 2006's "The Wicker Man" as an example — the scene stands out due to Cage's manic delivery of the line in an otherwise underwhelming folk horror remake. However, Cage's ability to take on complex roles and imbue them with dark humor is on full display in films like "Mandy" and "Wild At Heart," and this ability reaches its peak in the critically-acclaimed culinary drama, "Pig."

So, when Richard Stanley conceived the idea of a harrowing Lovecraftian cosmic horror movie about a family hounded by an imperceptible alien species, Cage emerged as the natural choice to play the family patriarch, Nathan Gardner. Stanley's "Color Out Of Space...

Fantastic Fest 2019 Interview: Richard Stanley on Collaborating with Nicolas Cage for Color Out Of Space
Ever since its premiere earlier this month in Toronto, Richard Stanley’s Color Out of Space has been eliciting an array of reactions, and to this writer, it is undoubtedly one of the wildest films I’ve seen in 2019, which is why this writer was so excited to speak with Stanley on the heels of the film’s Us premiere at the 2019 Fantastic Fest.

Based on the short story by H. P. Lovecraft, Stanley discussed how his involvement in Color Out of Space came about because of another Lovecraftian project he worked on years ago. “Like everything in life, how this came about was random and strange. It came out of me and making a Lovecraft [adaptation] in short film about four or five years ago, a film called The Mother of Toads, which became the first part of an anthology movie called The Theatre Bizarre. It turned out that the...
