Apple TV+ has ended Mythic Quest after four seasons. The final episode of the workplace comedy aired on March 26 but will now be re-released with an updated ending. The revised version will be available next week on the platform.
The creators of the series — Megan Ganz, David Hornsby, and Rob McElhenney — confirmed the cancellation and shared a statement acknowledging the decision and the final update. “Endings are hard. But after four incredible seasons, Mythic Quest is coming to a close,” the team said. “We’re so proud of the show and the world we got to build — and deeply grateful to every cast and crew member who poured their heart into it.

Apple TV+’s Mythic Quest has come to an end. The streamer has opted not to renew the gaming workplace comedy series for a fifth season. The decision comes days after the Season 4 finale dropped March 26.
Since it had not been conceived as a series finale, the Season 4 finale will now get a new ending to give fans closure. The updated episode will be made available next week.

I’m not the first to note that entertainment studios’ terror of gambling and losing on original stories has made it so that nearly every project that makes it in front of our eyes — including literally all 10 of last year’s biggest movies — belongs to a franchise. We all know the big ones, but this goes beyond the MCU, the Dceu, Star Wars, Star Trek and the Disney princesses: We’re now living in a world where The Big Bang Theory is about to launch its third spin-off. Even shows on AppleTV+ — a platform that, famously, no one watches, and that we just learned is losing its parent company more than $1 billion a year — are becoming franchises: as Mythic Quest spins off the anthology show Side Quest, I think we can officially say franchise fever has gone too far.

In all its ups and downs, Mythic Quest always stays true to its core conceit: a workplace comedy about a video game company, and all the interpersonal baggage that accompanies the creatives tasked with building said games. Side Quest, which Apple TV+ announced as its new spinoff, features a similar, if not identical premise, this time focusing on the plights of the lower-level and developmental employees.
Both the Mythic Quest season 4 finale and the Side Quest premiere will be streaming on Wednesday, March 26, 2025. The new series serves as an expansion of the established universe, per a press release. It will focus on the lives of employees, players and fans who are impacted by the game in an anthology format. All four episodes will be released that day for a binge-watch!

Writers Guild of America East leadership has touched down in Los Angeles for meetings to review the counter-offer by the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers furnished on Aug. 11, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. The WGA and the AMPTP are set to meet Tuesday, Aug. 15.
On Friday, the AMPTP presented its latest counter-proposal to the writers’ union. The guild told its members that night that it would “evaluate their offer” and present their response this week.
It’s not unusual for leaders of the eastern branch to join their West Coast counterparts during a strike — president Michael Winship has previously told THR that during the 2007-08 writers’ strike, as president of the eastern branch of the union, he flew out to L.A. every few weeks — but it does suggest that the talks have gotten more serious in recent days.

Robin Thede ain’t here for any more Emmy snubs for the hilarious Black women from “A Black Lady Sketch Show.”
“We’re showing you the characters behind the characters,” she recently told Variety at a Q&a panel. “I love it. You see the full range of actors on the show. But I want to note that none of the show’s actors have ever been nominated for an Emmy, and they deserve it.”

Insecure fans who aren’t in the #LawrenceHive weren’t the only ones rooting against an Issa and Lawrence reconciliation during Sunday’s series finale.

Admit it: we were all a bit worried about how Insecure was going to wrap up all the loose ends during season five. Was Issa Dee (Issa Rae) going to stay with Nathan (Kendrick Sampson)? How is Tiffany (Amanda Seales) doing with life in Denver? Is Molly (Yvonne Orji) going to get her happily-ever-after with Taurean (Leonard Robinson)? What happens with Kelli (Natasha Rothwell)? She was having so much growth! Well, in the season finale on Dec. 26, showrunner Prentice Penny gave us answers to all those questions. Issa and Lawrence (Jay Ellis) chose each other once more, Molly and Taurean get married, Kelli falls in love with a man named Desmond (James Bland) and they're expecting a baby, and Tiffany is struggling in Denver and is pregnant with her second child with Derek (Wade Allain-Marcus).

Insecure‘s penultimate episode had to focus on the Issa, Lawrence and Nathan love triangle. After all, that’s the dramatic crescendo most fans had been waiting for on the beloved HBO rom-com.
While all of that was going on last Sunday, Molly and Taurean lowkey stole the show as they popped weed gummies, stuffed their mouths with delectable (and out-of-reach) catered finger-food, and secretly got it on in a pantry at Tiffany’s parents’ house.

Natasha Rothwell directed Sunday night's episode of Insecure, and what a ride! The episode centered around Issa Dee (Issa Rae) and Nathan (Kendrick Sampson) and their dysfunctional relationship; Molly (Yvonne Orji) allowing herself to be vulnerable with her coworker Taurean (Leonard Robinson) amid her mom's ailing health; and, of course, Issa's wild fever dreams of assaulting her ex Lawrence's (Jay Ellis) baby momma Condola (Christina Elmore) and dunking their son, Elijah. "[The episode] typifies your 30s: 'What do I think? What do I feel like? What do I want? What do you want?'" Rothwell, who plays Kelli Prenny, told the Los Angeles Times.
Of directing the episode, Rothwell told Bustle she spent a lot of time studying leading up to her directorial debut. For advice, she went to director Patty Jenkins, who taught her to "lean into what you don't know and lean on the people around you." Ultimately, Rothwell said...

Insecure's final season has been delivering all the drama we've craved on account of its shocking moments so far. Between Issa (Issa Rae) and Lawrence's (Jay Ellis) inevitable breakup in the first episode and their awkward run-in with Condola (Christina Elmore) and baby Elijah, the final season is keeping us on our toes. But the latest shocker of the season may come from a possible romance that's blossoming between Molly and . . . Taurean (Leonard Robinson).
Yes, you remember Taurean: Molly's hard-ass co-worker from the law firm who loves giving her a tough time. After her rough breakup with Andrew (Alexander Hodge) in Insecure's season four finale, Molly's trek back into the dating pool has been an uphill battle. Her complicated love life has been the subject of the show since the very beginning, but now it looks like she may be finding stability in a very unexpected place.

Leonard Robinson has a warm and inviting smile, but that’s something fans of Insecure haven’t been able to see, because his character Taurean is always scowling.
This changed during Sunday night’s installment of the HBO comedy after Taurean finally warmed up to Molly (Yvonne Orji) during a work retreat. Molly, who woke up with a slight hangover and worries that she’d slept with her coworker, learned they hadn’t gotten that intimate, but she did have to give back Taurean his watch.

Just 24 hours ahead of the fifth and final season premiere of “Insecure,” creator and star Issa Rae welcomed hundreds of fans gathered at the parking-lot-turned-venue of Hilltop’s Coffee and Kitchen in L.A. for Insecure Fest — a five-hour live musical celebration of the show.
“I gotta shout out Hilltop for hosting this in the parking lot, make sure to go there and get you some lavender lattes because that’s my favorite,” Rae quipped, before giving a final thanks to HBO for giving her and the show this platform.
First held as a block party in Brooklyn celebrating “Insecure’s” first season, the festival has grown to mimic Rae’s character Issa Dee’s block party featured in Season 4 of the HBO comedy. As another real-life connection, hosting the event at Hilltop also represented Rae’s growing business empire, as she’s a partner with the coffee shop.
