‘Money Heist’ Star Najwa Nimri Teases Season 2 Role in Alex de la Iglesia’s ’30 Coins’
Image
Appropriately enough given the show’s enigmatic nature, the slow drip of information about a second season of Spanish genre legend Alex de la Iglesia’s occult horror series “30 Coins” has, for the most part, been cryptic at best. That tradition continued Friday, after HBO Max confirmed the second season, when “Money Heist’s” Najwa Nimri, one of Spain’s biggest film and TV stars, teased her participation in the upcoming season.

Apart from the show’s three leads – Eduard Fernández as Father Vergara, Megan Montaner as veterinarian-turned-demon-hunter Elena and Miguel Ángel Silvestre as Mayor Paco – no other casting has yet been confirmed, but Nimri posted an Instagram story which included part of the Season 2 teaser and the phrase: “We start a new adventure,” while also tweeting #30Monedas – the show’s Spanish-language title.

Money Heist: How Season 5 Changed the Series Forever
Image
This Money Heist article contains Major spoilers for Season 5.

The long-awaited final season of Netflix’s most popular foreign language series Money Heist blew up everything we though we knew about the show. Every fan has been eagerly waiting to see Gandia (José Manuel Poga) get his just desserts for his cold-blooded killing of Nairobi (Alba Flores) last season. Season 4 ended with the gang chanting “For Nairobi!” at the end, a rallying cry for revenge. But the price of Gandia’s death was way too high. It cost the life of the show’s leading character, Tokyo (Úrsula Corberó), taking Money Heist in a completely new, much darker direction.

Tokyo’s Death

Tokyo’s death is one of the most daring character kills ever seen on television. It’s even more of a showstopper than the death of Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) in Game of Thrones. The Mother of Dragons...

Despite this, many of the series’ global devotees continue to mourn the death of fan favorite Nairobi (Alba Flores). The loving mother somehow managed to thwart death when a sniper’s bullet wounded her at the end of Season 3, only to brutally and swiftly die at the merciless hands of Gandia (Jose Manuel Poga) in Season 4. Money Heist Season 5: What to Expect
Image
If there’s one thing that Money Heist has mastered, it’s the cliffhanger. The cancelled Spanish series that was reborn on Netflix took the world by storm, sparking a global revolution that has so many nail-biting edge-of-your-seat twists and turns that it’s nearly impossible not to binge it all once you’re hooked. The show is a relentless rollercoaster ride and oh so addictive. You never know who is going to live and who is going to die. In fact, not even the actors don’t know.

“It’s impossible, really difficult to know that because it’s also something they established from the start,” Úrsula Corberó (who plays Tokyo), said during the show’s appearance at the 2021 Television Critics Association summer press tour.. “Alex Pina, he’s a last-minute writer, and he’s obsessed as if this was linked with some kind of inspiration. ‘Money Heist’ Team Says Their Show May Be Ending But the Robbery Will Live On
Image
The rallying cries of the Italian anti-fascist song “Bella ciao” from The Professor’s (Álvaro Morte) gang of endearing city-named criminals will soon no longer be heard from the halls of the Bank of Spain. Álex Pina’s “Money Heist,” also known as “La Casa de Papel,” one of Netflix’s most-streamed Spanish-language shows, will reach its conclusion in two parts by the end of this year.

But while the series will come to an end, “it isn’t the end of the robbery at the Bank of Spain,” executive producer and director Jesús Colmenar said during the Television Critics Assn. press tour panel for the show on Aug. 19.

Colmenar, who was joined by Morte and Úrsula Corberó, discussed the “biggest and most thrilling” season, with Colmenar noting, “We have put the final stops in there.”

One important stop came in the fourth season, when fan-favorite character Nairobi (Alba Flores) was killed off.

Money Heist has also become a rallying cry of resistance that is changing the world.

It almost didn’t happen. Netflix picked up Money Heist entirely by chance. If they hadn’t, the original series might have easily vanished into obscurity for English-speaking audiences. Once Netflix got it, it blew up and became their most watched non-English series.

Money Heist was originally broadcast on Spain’s Antena 3 channel in 2017 under its native title La Casa de Papel (The House of Paper). The first season was 15 episodes, told in two parts. The initial part garnered a...

‘La Casa de Papel’ Part 3 Goes into Production: Watch Video
Money Heist (2017)
Madrid — The third part of “La Casa de Papel” (“Money Heist”), Netflix’s most-watched non-English language show, is entering production and has added new cast. Netflix dropped a first video on Thursday celebrating the occasion.

Set to the music of “Bella Ciao,” the new video, however, hints more at Part 3 characters than its events, as Parts I and 2 actors, led by Alvaro Morte...
