The series is expected to hit Netflix globally this fall, and in anticipation, the platform has unveiled a sneak peek, hinting at what’s coming. Amazon hosted its annual Prime Video Presents event in Madrid this afternoon, where the streaming giant made a raft of announcements, including new theatrical features, true crime docuseries, returning drama programs and the next season of Spain’s uber-popular singing competition “Operación Triunfo.”

Los Angeles-based Upgrade Productions is partnering with Iceland’s new Act 4 and Croatia’s Drugi Plan on the eco-thriller Volcano.

The eight-part series follows surviving residents from a volcano which has devasted Iceland as they are relocated to Croatia under a Un directive and must learn how to live together, survive cultural clashes and ultimately help each other.

Production on the mixed-language series – which will be in English, Icelandic, Croatian – is scheduled to start early next year and will take place in Iceland and Croatia.

The aftermath of a deadly volcanic eruption will set the stage for a new eco-thriller between Los Angeles-based Upgrade Productions, Iceland’s Act 4 and Croatia’s Drugi Plan.

The eight-part series is produced by Act 4, the newly announced production company led by prominent Icelandic creatives, including “True Detective” actor Ólafur Darri Ólafsson and “Black Sands” producer Hörður Rúnarsson, and Croatia’s Drugi Plan, led by Nebojsa Taraba and Miodrag Sila.

Ulterior is created by Money Heist director Alex Rodrigo and Vida Perfecta’s Manuel Burque and follows a young singer and influencer who wakes up in a life that she does not recognize in a world where humans are given the opportunity to virtually connect to a simulation of their own lives. Protagonist Ada must play along with the game in order to return to her real life and, with the help of a mysterious stranger, unravel the puzzle of her new existence.

Flores, who is also exec producing alongside Morena’s Pedro Uriol (Disney+’s The Invisible Girl), is best known for playing Nairobi in Netflix Spanish smash hit Money Heist. No broadcaster is attached as of yet.

Manolo Caro, creator, executive producer and director of Netflix’s The House of Flowers (La Casa de las Flores), has signed with UTA for representation in all areas.

Caro’s background spans writing, producing and directing for film and theater. Among his film credits, which have made him the first Mexican director to appear for three consecutive years in his country’s top 10 at the box office, are titles like Perfectos Desconocidos and La Vida Inmoral de la Pareja Ideal.

Appropriately enough given the show’s enigmatic nature, the slow drip of information about a second season of Spanish genre legend Alex de la Iglesia’s occult horror series “30 Coins” has, for the most part, been cryptic at best. That tradition continued Friday, after HBO Max confirmed the second season, when “Money Heist’s” Najwa Nimri, one of Spain’s biggest film and TV stars, teased her participation in the upcoming season.

Apart from the show’s three leads – Eduard Fernández as Father Vergara, Megan Montaner as veterinarian-turned-demon-hunter Elena and Miguel Ángel Silvestre as Mayor Paco – no other casting has yet been confirmed, but Nimri posted an Instagram story which included part of the Season 2 teaser and the phrase: “We start a new adventure,” while also tweeting #30Monedas – the show’s Spanish-language title.

Álex Pina’s “Money Heist,” also known as “La Casa de Papel,” one of Netflix’s most-streamed Spanish-language shows, will reach its conclusion in two parts by the end of this year.

But while the series will come to an end, “it isn’t the end of the robbery at the Bank of Spain,” executive producer and director Jesús Colmenar said during the Television Critics Assn. press tour panel for the show on Aug. 19.

Pedro Almodovar’s Pain And Glory swept the Platino Xcaret Awards for Ibero-American films on June 29 winning six trophies including best Ibero-American film.

Netflix is set to launch the third season of Spanish-language drama Money Heist on July 19 and has debuted a trailer. This is not an April Fools joke… the trailer hints at some island-based heist action, declaring that the “vacation is now over.”

The show, known in Spanish-speaking markets as La Casa De Papel, is one of the Internet service’s biggest international hits, and the third season will be produced exclusively for the streaming platform.

The Spanish series’ original creator, Alex Pina, is also returning for Part 3. Álvaro Morte stars in the thriller as El Professor, a mysterious criminal mastermind planning an epic heist. He recruits a group of eight thieves who take hostages and lock themselves in the Royal Mint of Spain while El Professor manipulates the police to carry out his plan. Production has begun on Part 3 of Netflix’s Spanish-language phenomenon Money Heist. Known in Spanish-speaking markets as La Casa De Papel, the series’ third installment will air in 2019. Original creator Alex Pina is returning with some new faces joining the cast. Check them out in the video above as the gang gets back together for a table read.

Fans of the series, who are legion, will notice Pedro Alonso’s Berlin in the footage. Netflix teases that although the character died at the end of the heist in Part 2, this is sure to drive speculation about his actual fate.

Madrid — The third part of “La Casa de Papel” (“Money Heist”), Netflix’s most-watched non-English language show, is entering production and has added new cast. Netflix dropped a first video on Thursday celebrating the occasion.

Produced directly by Netflix and Vancouver Media, the Madrid-based shingle of series creators Alex Pina and Esther Martínez Lobato, the third part of “La casa de papel” was originally announced in April. Very little was known then about its plot apart from that “the professor will plan new heists, revealed in 2019,” Netflix said, and that much of the original key cast would return.

“The band is back. This time it will be more than a heist and, with new members, the stakes are raised,” Netflix announced Thursday.

Set to the music of “Bella Ciao,” the new video, however, hints more at Part 3 characters than its events, as Parts I and 2 actors, led by Alvaro Morte...

Exclusive: Wme has signed Úrsula Corberó, a breakout on the hit Spanish-language Netflix series Money Heist (La Casa de Papel), for representation in all areas.
