It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia's Eric Biermann Tribute Explained
Image
The season 17 premiere of "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" (which was also the second half of the show's crossover with "Abbott Elementary") ended with a tribute to someone most "It's Always Sunny" fans aren't familiar with. "In loving memory of Eric Biermann," said a title card at the start of the credits, accompanied by a picture of the man sporting some very nice sunglasses. But who is Biermann exactly, and what's his connection to "It's Always Sunny"?

Eric Biermann, it turns out, is the brother of Todd Biermann, a director of 17 "It's Always Sunny" episodes, including classics like "The Gang Gets Analyzed" in season 8 and "Mac & Dennis Move to the Suburbs" in season 11. Most recently, Todd directed the season 17 premiere, which is likely why this is the episode that features a shoutout to his brother. Eric Biermann unexpectedly passed away on October 12, 2024, at just 42 years old.

A Philadelphia resident himself,...

Glenn Howerton's Wife Appeared On It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia's Grossest Dennis Episode
Image
The history of "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" is loaded with fun facts. The show simply gets funnier when you learn that the Waitress (Mary Elizabeth Ellis) is actually married to Charlie in real life, or that the actors for Mac and Dee (Rob McElhenney and Kaitlin Olson) fell in love behind the scenes and got married around the premiere of season 4.

A lesser known trivia fact is that the real-life wife of Glenn Howerton (who plays beloved psychopath Dennis Reynolds) shows up in a famous season 5 episode "The D.E.N.N.I.S. System." Jill Latiano, who married Howerton around 2009, plays an attractive pharmacist named Caylee. Dennis sets his sights on her, and seduces her in a particularly disturbing way.

The D.E.N.N.I.S. system stands for Demonstrate value, Engage physically, Nurture dependence, Neglect emotionally, Inspire hope, and Separate entirely. If this sounds inhumane already,...

‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’ Star Glenn Howerton Reports That, Yes, His Hair Is Small
Image
The Golden God has shaved his heavenly head. He must have booked a movie about Steve Jobs.

If we can be completely superficial and more than a little parasocial for a second, there’s no arguing the fact that, out of all of the men in the core It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia cast, Glenn Howerton has — or, at least, had — the most incredible and manicured crop of hair. Given that his his competition is Danny DeVito, who has been bald on top since Batman Returns, Charlie Day, who always looks like he rolled out of his shared futon five minutes ago, and Rob McElhenney, who slicked back his own voluminous locks to look more like his buddy Ryan Reynolds at some point in the last few years, Howerton’s hair is (or was) the only five-star cut of the bunch.

Then, yesterday, Howerton posted a photo with his wife and D.

Dennis' Fake Grandma On Its Always Sunny Was Actually 100 Years Old
Image
There are a lot of memorable moments in the "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" episode "The D.E.N.N.I.S. System," but perhaps the best is the final scene in which Dennis (Glenn Howerton) tries to win back the affection of his pharmacist ex-girlfriend (Jill Latiano Howerton) with the help of his (fake) grandmother, Gladys. As a part of his system for winning over women, he pretended to have a sick grandmother in order to flirt with the pharmacist and he needed a grandmother to prove to her that his story was true. They go to the carnival to purportedly get Gladys some fresh air, but the whole plan falls apart after the rest of the gang shows up with their own versions of Dennis' system. The gang leave, abandoning poor Gladys in front of one of the carnival booths without a way to get home. The gang are pretty awful people,...

Psycho: The Lost Tapes of Ed Gein Director on His Horrifying Docuseries
Image
What does an infamous Wisconsin grave robber from the 1950s have to do with the classic horror film Psycho? Quite a bit. The gripping new docuseries Psycho: The Lost Tapes of Ed Gein, which premieres on MGM+/Roar on September 17, illuminates the story of Edward Theodore Gein, a notorious killer and grave robber from the small village of Plainfield, Wisconsin. This is one of the most compelling docuseries of the year.

Gein’s mindbending crimes came to light in 1957 after authorities learned he had taken the bodies he exhumed and used them as trophies. He confessed to murdering two women but was declared unfit for trail due to psychological issues. Gein died in a mental hospital in 1984.

“What most viewers might be surprised about is that Ed Gein inspired a horror movie revolution,” said James Buddy Day, director and executive producer of the docuseries. “All the contemporary horror movies and...

The Familial Cameo In Always Sunny Season 16 A Lot Of Viewers Didn't Catch
Image
The gang on "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" are a pretty tight-knit group with a long, complicated family history. At some point or another, most of the gang have claimed Frank (Danny DeVito) as their father, and Dee (Kaitlin Olson) and Dennis (Glenn Howerton) as twins. The cast have their own family connections too, as Olson is married to series creator and the man who plays Mac, Rob McElhenney, and the other guys have each had their spouses on the show! Charlie Day, who plays Charlie, is married to The Waitress (Mary Elizabeth Ellis), while Howerton's wife Jill Latiano made an appearance in season 5 and DeVito's wife Rhea Pearlman finally had a cameo in season 16. It's truly a family affair on "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia," and in the latest season, another member of the extended "Sunny" family made his first appearance.

Art Heist Documentary ‘The Thief Collector’ Acquired for North America by FilmRise (Exclusive)
Image
New York-based film and TV studio and streaming network FilmRise has acquired North American distribution rights to true-crime documentary feature film “The Thief Collector.”

Directed by Emmy winner Allison Otto (“The Love Bugs”), the film follows one of the most audacious and puzzling art thefts of a generation. In 1985, Willem de Kooning’s seminal work, “Woman-Ochre,” was sliced from its frame and stolen off the walls of the University of Arizona Museum of Art, disappearing into the desert. Over 30 years later, in a remote town in New Mexico, the $160 million dollar painting was rediscovered in the unlikeliest of places – the home of an eccentric married couple, both schoolteachers, with a keen eye for great works but a very unconventional method of collecting them. The film features Glenn Howerton co-creator, director, writer and star of “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.”

Interview: Season 2 of ‘Legit’ hits close to Jim Jefferies’ life
I feel the need to climb to the top of a mountain and shout at the top of my lungs to watch Legit on Fxx before it falls victim as another show worth your time that couldn’t find its audience in time. It’s smart, edgy, and sweet and comedies like this are few and far between.

Legit isn’t your typical comedy. Standup comedian, Jim Jefferies is trying to do something different, and bring his own sensibilities to the TV comedy realm. “When you’re with your friends,” he explains. “You laugh a little bit, you laugh a little bit, and then something big happens. I think a lot of network sitcoms it’s just laughs per minute. I don’t think they even care how big the laughs are. As long as they can pack so many into that timeline. We have episodes where there’s maybe five,...

'Legit' Season 2 teases: Life is going downhill for Jim and Steve
"Legit" didn't leave main characters Jim (Jim Jefferies) and Steve (Dan Bakkedahl) in the best places at the end of Season 1, and life doesn't get much better for them in Season 2. Still, according to the cast, watching their downward spirals is going to be so much fun for viewers.

The It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia star and his actress wife, Jill Latiano, welcomed baby boy Miles Robert on Monday.

Announcing the news during an appearance on late night U.S. talk show Conan on Thursday, Howerton admitted the couple had waited until after the tot's birth to find a suitable name.

Jill Latiano arrives to the premiere of FXX's "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" 10th Season and "Man Seeking Woman" at DGA Theater on January 13, 2015 in Los Angeles, California
Newcomer Jill Latiano has been tapped to star in the Lifetime drama pilot The Virgin of Akron, Ohio.

Brian Kerwin, Chelah Horsdal, Landon Liboiron, Matthew John Armstrong and Shawn Roberts also have joined the cast in addition to the previously cast Laurie Metcalf.

Virgin, from Fox TV Studios, centers on Raleigh (Latiano), a young model in Manhattan who after a stint in rehab is sent back to her Ohio town to do community service and live with her dysfunctional family. The woman becomes a local celebrity after published reports say that a vision of Virgin Mary came down to bless her after she had a car crash on her way home.

Kerwin will play Raleigh's father, a caring, intelligent judge, while Horsdal will play her older, overworked, jealous sister, and Liboiron will play her clean-cut kid brother. Metcalf has been cast as Raleigh's perfectionist mother.

Armstrong will play a former cop who befriends Raleigh, while Roberts will play the handsome, athletic "big catch" in Akron.
