Paramount Pictures' underrated post-apocalyptic adventure comedy Love and Monsters will be heading to a brand-new streaming home. The 2020 movie stars Maze Runner alum Dylan O'Brien as Joel, a clumsy, hopeless romantic who finally gains the strength and confidence to become a hero.

Beginning on June 1, Love and Monsters will officially be available to stream for free on Tubi. The movie takes place in a post-apocalyptic world where human civilization has been overrun by cold-blooded animals that mutated into large monsters. The story centers around Joel Dawson, who managed to become part of a group of survivors living in an underground bunker after getting separated from his loved ones. Following a near-death experience, he finds the courage to go on an adventure across a monster-filled America in hopes of reuniting with his high school girlfriend.

Love and Monsters was directed by Michael Matthews from a screenplay by Brian Duffield and Matthew Robinson.

Well, star Jessica Henwick, who joins the likes of Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss in the unexpected follow-up, has offered some insight into her role in the movie, teasing a very physical character for her to play.

Filming on The Matrix 4 has now wrapped, with the cast and crew reportedly celebrating the movie's completion with a huge party in Germany, despite nationwide health and safety restrictions forbidding it. As many as 200 members of the team are said to have taken part in the wrap party at Studio Babelsberg in Potsdam, Germany, with those behind The Matrix 4 reportedly circumventing the new protocols by claiming they were filming a scene for the highly anticipated sci-fi sequel.

According to a source who was lucky enough to attend, the mood at the party was 'exuberant', and while they added that no one was filming, the spokeswoman for Studio Babelsberg, Bianca Markarewicz, refuted this claiming that the team was shooting a 'celebration scene' and that 'hygiene regulations were complied with.'

"The production team consciously put this shoot with its many participants, right at the end of the filming," Markarewicz asserted.

With The Matrix 4 now only just over a year away, excitement amongst fans is palpable. Though you may be feeling a bit down thanks to the major Warner Bros. reshuffling that is currently happening due to the delay of No Time to Die, it's not all bad news. The Matrix 4 is now scheduled to hit theaters several months earlier than expected, moving from April 1, 2022, to Dec. 22, 2021. Rather perfectly, Neo, who has always been a sci-fi spiritual figure, will now return around Christmas.

Moving The Matrix 4 forward comes amid a series of delays at the box office, with No Time to Die now scheduled for release on April 2, 2021. Several movies on the DC slate have also suffered push backs, including director Matt Reeves' The Batman, which has been moved from next year all the way to March 4, 2022. The highly anticipated sci-fi epic Dune, has been delayed almost a full year and will now not grace theaters until October 1st, 2021, the date previously held by The Batman.

Another returning cast member has now been added to the roster of The Matrix 4, with actor and stuntman Daniel Bernhardt now set to reprise the role of the villainous computer programme Agent Johnson in the upcoming sequel. Bernhardt also provided the voice for Agent Johnson in the video game Enter the Matrix and has featured in several other high-profile action flicks including Atomic Blonde and John Wick.

The Matrix 4 recently returned to filming after a pause in production, and, while specific details regarding the movie's plot continue to remain a mystery, the breath-taking Keanu Reeves has now revealed a few insights into what audiences can expect when they plug back into the Matrix. After praising director Lana Wachowski, Reeves describes The Matrix 4 as a "love story," and gives us some idea of the direction of the highly anticipated sequel.

"We have a wonderful director, Lana Wachowski, and she has written a beautiful script that is a love story, it's inspiring. It's another version, a call to wake up and it has some great action. All will be revealed."

The love story element has always been crucial to the mythos of The Matrix, with Neo realising his importance and power thanks to Trinity's declaration of love, with the couple being smitten with each other throughout the trilogy.

With production recently starting up again for The Matrix 4, star Neil Patrick Harris has divulged a few details regarding the sci-fi action sequel. Revealing that he in fact only has a small role in the movie, Harris could not help but heap praise on writer and director Lana Wachowski.

"I have great hope that, that fans will appreciate all the work that Lana and everyone is putting into this movie. I'm a big Lana Wachowski fan. I think she's a great person. I think she has a great inclusive energy, and her style has shifted visually from what she had done to what she is currently doing. And it's changed in an evolved way and she's such a bright light. I would have been happy to be in any capacity in this. I would have been happy to just go and visit the set of a big giant franchise movie.

"Lana Wachowski had rung me at the beginning of last year. We've worked together five times, the Wachowski's and I on three Matrix films, V for Vendetta and Cloud Atlas. Well, in news that should surprise absolutely nobody, the initial target of $50,000 has been absolutely obliterated, with the campaign having now raked in well over $245,000 at time of writing.

The Matrix 4 has now returned to filming, and star Keanu Reeves could not be more excited, both to be back at work and to be returning to the sci-fi world of The Matrix. The breath-taking actor has detailed what it's like to be back filming again in Berlin, with Reeves stating that things have "felt normal."

"I'm here in Berlin, and everybody who's working on the production has worked thoroughly and in concert with the local government and industries and the Babelsberg, [Germany] studios. The protocols are in place. They're effective. The process of filmmaking has felt normal, which I'm really grateful for. And knock on wood, everybody's been Ok. We're about three weeks in. The writers [David Mitchell and Aleksandar Hemon] and the director [Lana Wachowski] have come up with a beautiful, beautiful story. It's really thrilling to be making a much easier Matrix movie."

The Matrix co-director Lilly Wachowski's recent revelation that the movie was always meant to be a metaphor for transgender identity has given the sci-fi classic a layer of interpretation many always suspected was there. Neo himself, Keanu Reeves, was recently asked about this element of The Matrix, to which the actor acknowledged that, while he was not aware of the transgender allegory, he thinks it's "cool".

"I never spoke to Lilly about that. She never conveyed that to me. I think the Matrix films are profound, and I think that allegorically, a lot of people in different versions of the film can speak to that, and for Lilly to come out and share that with us, I think is cool."

Lilly Wachowski revealed that this was almost meant to be one of the movie's purposes, with the director saying, "I'm glad that it has gotten out, that was the original intention.

Cameras have rolled again on The Matrix 4 after a five-month hiatus due the pandemic.

Deadline first revealed back in March that production on the Warner Bros / Village Roadshow pic was pausing in German city Berlin due to the disruption. Filming is now back underway, with star Keanu Reeves making an appearance in a video interview with AP to update on its prospects.

“Everyone loves the project and if you’re ever going to get in a situation that needs to be figured out…show business people are the best,” said Reeves. “We’re scrappy, we know how to get stuff done, we’re inventive, we think on our feet. It’s a great honor and I’m grateful to be working.”

Regarding the Covid-19 safety measures the studio is taking, the actor said the protocols have been effective and not disruptive to date. “There’s thoughtful, effective protocols in place.

With the trilogy having wrapped up all the way back in 2003, it was assumed that the story of rebel fighters Neo, Trinity, and Morpheus was over and done with. The cast of the still-untitled fourth film in “The Matrix” saga has signed eight-week extensions to keep the actors on hold until at least July 6, according to an individual with knowledge of the project.

Filming is currently going on in San Francisco, with several set images and videos having hit social media over the last few weeks giving us a small glimpse at what to expect from the upcoming sequel. Now, a set video has revealed a new action sequence that potentially hints at the return of a familiar tactic that was employed by the trilogy's malevolent antagonist Agent Smith.
