Amazon MGM Studios has found its partner for its ambitious international theatrical exhibition plans in Sony Pictures. The two studios have struck a multiyear distribution deal that will see Sony release films “After the Hunt,” “Mercy,” “Crime 101” and “Project Hail Mary” overseas.

The deal comes as Amazon’s international distribution deal with Warner Bros. Pictures ends. After the aforementioned slate of films has been released, Amazon MGM will release its titles overseas directly, but the deal gives the studio time to set its international plans.

Indeed, Luca Guadagnino’s “After the Hunt” will start the partnership off with an Oct. 10 limited release before going wide on Oct. 17. The psychological drama was given a prime awards season date and stars Julia Roberts, Ayo Edebiri, Andrew Garfield, Michael Stuhlbarg and Chloë Sevigny. Longtime Guadagnino collaborators Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross are also returning as composers.

The prolific bestselling crime novelist “paused” his retirement to write a new collection of short novels titled The Final Score. The deal was made quietly a few months ago, and it is now up for pre-orders on Amazon, Apple and Barnes & Noble. Harper Collins/William Morrow will release the book on September 16.

“I don’t know if I am back for one more book or more,” Winslow told Deadline. “One day I just started writing again and I couldn’t stop. Amazon MGM Studios will open the film Feb. 13, the beginning of the long Valentine’s Day and Presidents’ Day weekend.

Directed by Bart Layton, Crime 101 is based on author Don Winslow’s novella of the same name. The story follows detective Lou Lubesnick as he attempts to solve a string of multimillion-dollar jewel heists by tracking the perpetrator who follows a strict set of rules known as “Crime 101.” As the fates of the various characters converge, the line between hunter and hunted blurs. Layton wrote the adapted script.

Mark Ruffalo, Barry Keoghan, Monica Barbaro, Corey Hawkins, Tate Donovan, Devon Bostick, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Nick Nolte round out the cast.

With a total of eight Oscar nominations, including Best Picture, A Complete Unknown has taken its place as a major Academy frontrunner —. One of those eight nominations was for Monica Barbaro’s turn as Joan Baez.

Barbaro told Deadline of her shock and surprise shortly after the announcement Thursday morning. “This was really unexpected,” she said. “I was trying not to pay attention to it because there are so many phenomenal actors performances this year and I’ve just been like, I’m not going to overthink it. I’m not going to expect any of it.”

However, for Barbaro it was afternoon as she is currently in London shooting interiors for Crime 101, Bart Layton’s upcoming heist movie, also starring Chris Hemsworth, Halle Berry, Barry Keoghan and Mark Ruffalo. The film is set in LA and exteriors were shot there.

The Batman Part II continues the saga involving Robert Pattinson's Dark Knight and could potentially see a confrontation between Gotham's chief protector and his long-time rival, the Joker. However, the man who played the Clown Prince of Crime claims he still doesn't know if his character will appear in the sequel.

Speaking with Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, The Batman star Barry Keoghan addressed whether he'll reprise his role as the Joker in Part II. Though it's been widely reported Keoghan will return to play the nihilistic criminal in Part II, the Irish actor claims he hasn't heard anything about a potential feature. "It's a big one, but I am going to say that, if the opportunity came about, yes, I'd love to explore, and given the opportunity, really dive into it," he said "But I have not been contacted, I've not heard anything."

Amazon Studios’ feature film “Crime 101” is rounding out its cast.

Jennifer Jason Leigh, Nick Nolte, Tate Donovan, Babak Tafti, Payman Maadi, Deborah Hedwall, Devon Bostick, Paul Adelstein, Drew Powell and Matthew Del Negro have boarded the upcoming crime thriller, which will be released in theaters.

They join previously announced cast members Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Barry Keoghan, Monica Barbaro, Corey Hawkins and Halle Berry. Bart Layton wrote the script, which is based on a novella by Don Winslow, and will direct.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Marcel reacted to rumors that she was on the list of directors in consideration to direct Bond 26. According to the rumor mill, Marcel is up for the job alongside Edward Berger, David Michod, Yann Demange, and Bart Layton. Chris Hemsworth suits up while filming his new movie Crime 101 on Wednesday (October 23) in Los Angeles.

The 41-year-old actor was seen filming with a couple of co-stars as he also wore a ski mask and held a gun for a robbery scene.

Crime 101 is an adaptation of Don Winslow‘s short story of the same name and reportedly is a follow up to American Animals.

Hardly 24 hours after it was announced that Chris Hemsworth would play a live-action version of Prince Charming, another of his intriguing upcoming projects is further building out its ensemble. A new report from Deadline revealed that Monica Barbaro, best known for her role in Top Gun: Maverick, will star in Crime 101 alongside Hemsworth and his long-time Marvel colleague, Mark Ruffalo. Plot details about the film are being kept under wraps, but the novella it's based on follows a veteran jewel thief named Davis who plans a complex and intricate high-stakes heist that takes place along the Pacific Coast. Barry Keoghan and Halle Berry have also been tapped for roles in the film, but similar to the plot, details about their characters are being kept under wraps as well. After a breakout role in 2022’s “Top Gun: Maverick,” Monica Barbaro‘s career is poised to soar even higher after her next starring role in “A Complete Unknown,” in theaters this December. The longtime screenwriter turned director has been friends with Hardy since the early 2000s, as they both worked across the street from one another in Southwest London. Marcel was employed at a video rental store, and after hitting it off one day, she soon started writing scenes for Hardy’s theater company that was run out of the first floor of Battersea’s The Latchmere pub.
