Jurassic World Rebirth Director Explains Why Jurassic Park Is Secretly a Horror Movie
Image
Steven Spielberg's Jurassic Park has long been seen as one of the best science fiction movies ever made. However, director Gareth Edwards, who helms the franchise's seventh installment, Jurassic World Rebirth, recently shared why he considers the 1993 movie to also belong to the horror genre.

Speaking with Vanity Fair earlier this week ahead of the release of the first Jurassic World Rebirth trailer, Edwards opened up about the pressure he initially dealt with regarding living up the high bar that Spielberg set with the original Jurassic Park movie, which he believes is a horror movie disguised as family-friendly fare. "Jurassic Park is a horror film in the witness protection program," Edwards remarked. "Most people don’t think of it like that. We all went to see it as kids. But I was scared shitless, to be honest, when I was at the cinema watching the T. rex attack. It...

A New Dinosaur Era Is Born in Jurassic World Rebirth Trailer
Image
A new Jurassic era has begun. Universal has released the first trailer for Jurassic World Rebirth, the upcoming seventh theatrical installment in the long-running dinosaur action franchise.

The trailer begins by introducing two of Rebirth's three leads: Scarlett Johansson's skilled covert operations expert, Zora Bennett, and Jonathan Bailey's paleontologist, Dr. Henry Loomis. Rupert Friend's Big Pharma rep Martin Krebs is assembling a team to embark on a mission to the island research facility of the original Jurassic Park, which has now become a home for the dinosaurs that were left to roam the Earth freely at the end of 2022's Jurassic World Dominion. Aided by a who's who ensemble that includes the movie's third lead, Oscar winner Mahershala Ali's Duncan Kincaid, Zora and Henry quickly discover that their mission won't be as easy as they originally thought, with the trailer promising plenty of action-packed and intense dinosaur moments.

Jurassic World Rebirth Will Bring Back The Best Part Of Jurassic Park 3
Image
Today is officially a big news day for the most annoying person you know. While most other blockbusters tend to take over the spotlight, from galaxies far away to godlike superheroes and everything in between, let us never forget that there exists a passionate and extremely nerdy fanbase obsessed with the coolest movie monsters of them all: dinosaurs. The recently-completed "Jurassic World" trilogy may have put a slight damper on things for us -- in case you have chosen to forget, the critically-derided "Dominion" decided to spend an unseemly amount of its runtime on a plague of giant locusts, for some reason -- but we're back and ready for more kaiju-sized punishment. The franchise shows no signs of slowing down, and for once that doesn't sound like a threat.

Vanity Fair has the scoop on several jaw-dropping surprises in store for us in the upcoming seventh film in the "Jurassic Park" franchise,...

Can the Next Jurassic World Movie Can Tie Up a Decades-Old Plot Thread?
Image
Your browser does not support the video tag.

With another Jurassic World movie on the way and new opportunities awaiting, the next installment can tie up decades-old plot threads. After Jurassic Park evolved into the Jurassic World series, there was more to explore and a legacy to carry on. Although Jurassic World Dominion billed itself as "the epic conclusion to the Jurassic era" and Jurassic Park's grand finale, there are still many aspects of the overall Jurassic Park lore that can be explored in more depth. The park has closed, the dinosaurs have found a place in the modern world and a considerable part of the remaining cast appears content, riding off into an amber-tinged sunset. However, there are stories that the franchise forgot, young characters who faded into obscurity, and a legacy that still looms in the shadow of the iconic gates of Jurassic Park.

10 Jurassic Park Characters Dominion Ignored (And How They Could've Fixed The Movie)
Image
Lex and Tim Murphy could have brought the Jurassic saga full circle in Jurassic World Dominion. Amanda Kirby could have repaid her ex-husband's sacrifice in a heroic way in the film. Nick Van Owen could have provided some much-needed comic relief to the dull and humorless Jurassic World Dominion.

From Nick Van Owen to Lex and Tim Murphy, there are a bunch of missing Jurassic Park characters who couldve saved the critically panned Jurassic World Dominion. Jurassic World Dominion promised to be a sort of Avengers: Endgame for the Jurassic Park saga, bringing the stars of the old classics and the stars of the new reboots together in one big mega ensemble. Chris Pratts Owen Grady and Bryce Dallas Howards Claire Dearing both returned as expected, but Dominion also brought back Sam Neill as Alan Grant, Laura Dern as Ellie Sattler, and Jeff Goldblum as Ian Malcolm.

Unfortunately, having this...

9 Original Jurassic Park Trilogy Characters Who Can Still Return In Jurassic World 4
Image
Jurassic World 4 could bring back characters from the original Jurassic Park trilogy, including Tim Murphy, Lex Murphy, Billy Brennan, Sarah Harding, and Nick Van Owen to maintain a connection to the original movies. Tim Murphy's experiences in Jurassic Park could shape him into a paleontologist or someone who objects to dinosaurs in the world, while Lex Murphy's personality suggests she would be outspokenly against dinosaurs altogether. The return of Billy Brennan could explain why he stopped working with Dr. Alan Grant and explore his involvement with dinosaurs further, while Sarah Harding could assist in managing the consequences of dinosaurs living alongside humans.

In Jurassic World 4, many interesting characters from the original Jurassic Park trilogy could return. Jurassic Park started out in 1993 as an incredible movie examining what could happen if humans brought dinosaurs back to life, and it developed into a multi-billion dollar franchise consisting of two movie trilogies,...

Image
The Jurassic Park movies have brought some iconic scenes to the big screen, with the best 60-second moments featuring thrilling interactions between humans and dinosaurs. From the T-rex chase sequence in the original Jurassic Park to the Indominus Rex escape in Jurassic World, these moments showcase how epic the franchise truly is. Jurassic World Dominion features an exciting moment with Ian Malcolm facing off against a fearsome Giganotosaurus, paying homage to his iconic scene from the first movie.

The Jurassic Park movies feature some of the most thrilling scenes in cinema history, but they all have a particular one-minute moment that stands out as the best. Kicking off in 1993 with Steven Spielberg's original Jurassic Park movie, the franchise has gone through two trilogies, as it continued through a name change with 2015's Jurassic World and its subsequent two sequels. Jurassic Park Nearly Cut Its Most Iconic T-Rex Scene
Image
The iconic T-rex banner shot in Jurassic Park was almost cut from the final film, but director Steven Spielberg decided to include it to provide a satisfying conclusion to the adventure. Moments in the movie, including the T-rex scene, may not make sense in terms of logic or plot holes, but the importance of the banner shot outweighs these concerns. The T-rex banner shot represents the underlying theme of the Jurassic Park franchise, symbolizing the new emergence of dinosaurs and foreshadowing the dangerous consequences of meddling with nature.

Jurassic Park has a number of iconic scenes involving the dinosaurs, which is why it may come as a surprise to learn the best T-rex scene in the movie was almost cut. From the shot of the theme park doors opening, to the raptors stalking Lex and Tim Murphy in the kitchen, to the first shot of the plains covered with dinosaurs,...

How Jurassic Park changed film-making and our view of dinosaurs
Image
NewsIn June 1993, director Steven Spielberg released a film that unleashed a wave of technological change in film-making and simultaneously helped to revive popular interest in dinosaurs. The ConversationIn June 1993, director Steven Spielberg released a film that unleashed a wave of technological change in film-making and simultaneously helped to revive popular interest in dinosaurs. Jurassic Park, based on Michael Crichton’s novel, spawned five blockbuster sequels as well as a multitude of spin-off games, toys, novels, and multiple animated television shows. It features a theme park housing de-extincted dinosaurs that break out of their confines and cause havoc. Underpinning the plot is clever genetic engineering that has allowed the Park’s scientists to assume they could control all aspects of the dinosaurs’ development, including their sex, much to their later horror when it becomes apparent such control was never possible. The film franchise has taken an average of over $1 billion dollars at the box office,...
