Exclusive: Noomi Rapace and Jonathan Banks Discuss Constellation
Image
Constellation is not about prostates in space. The eight-part Apple TV+ psychological, sci-fi action-drama stars Noomi Rapace as troubled astronaut Jo Ericsson. Jo is battling Ptsd after a deadly mishap on the International Space Station, and life back on Earth is proving to be taxing. For starters, nothing “feels” the same. Jo’s daughter and husband are by her side, and other colleagues and friends offer support, but something feels off. Worse, Jo’s plagued by memory fragments of what she experienced in space. But her determination to get closer to a deeper truth only fuels her growing madness.

It all filters into the mix for a captivating, if not mind-bending, sci-fi series that may surprise viewers with its shades of horror. Created by Peter Harness, the first two episodes of the show were directed by Michelle MacLaren, who was behind the camera on super hits like Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul,...

Exclusive: Constellation Execs Unpack New Sci-Fi Series
Image
Directing Noomi Rapace in zero-gravity in a replica of the International Space Station in a character-driven dramatic sci-fi thriller with touches of horror and quantum physics. Apparently, that’s how Michelle MacLaren tops being one of the best producers of Breaking Bad and directing solid TV hits like Better Call Saul, The Morning Show, The Walking Dead, and Games of Thrones. It was all in the stars for the director/producer, who teamed up with Peter Harness, the ambitious showrunner behind Apple TV+’s sci-fi thriller Constellation.

Rapace headlines the new series, playing beleaguered astronaut Jo Ericsson, who returns to Earth after a disastrous incident at the International Space Station. But life back on Earth is far from what she knew it to be. Somehow, significant pieces of her life seem to be missing. The action-driven space adventure explores the gritty edges of human psychology and Jo’s frenzied attempts...

‘The Nun’ Blu-ray Review
Stars: Demián Bichir, Taissa Farmiga, Jonas Bloquet, Bonnie Aarons, Ingrid Bisu, Charlotte Hope, Sandra Teles, August Maturo, Jack Falk, Lynnette Gaza, Ani Sava, Michael Smiley | Written by Gary Dauberman | Directed by Corin Hardy

Corin Hardy’s The Nun is the latest chapter in the ever-expanding and highly successful horror universe in that of ‘The Conjuring.’

The character of the Nun, or Valak, was first explored in James Wan’s The Conjuring 2 back in 2016. Initially, a simple CGI villain was retconned in post-production and reshoots by Wan himself were conducted to give the villain a far more evil entity and in its place birthed the Nun. A highly lucrative and incredibly foreseeing addition which came to be a highly sought after and rich commodity within the horror community, leading Warner Bros to explore the roots of Valak in its own inevitable spin-off and two years later here we are with the highly anticipated final product.

Max von Sydow in The Exorcist (1973)
The Nun Poster Brings Valak Out of the Shadows
Max von Sydow in The Exorcist (1973)
What better way to sell your new horror movie than by invoking the spirit of a true classic like The Exorcist? The latest one-sheet for The Nun does just that. It's dark and ominous, stirring up feelings of terror and loneliness. A giant church looms overhead. A priest with his trusty briefcase accompanies Sister Irene, played by, perhaps, the greatest living actress of her generation, Taissa Farmiga. And then you have the demon Valak coming out of the shadows.

While The Nun boasts a stellar cast for a cheap horror knock-off, including Demi&#225n Bichir, Charlotte Hope, Sandra Teles, Ingrid Bisu and Lili Bordan, it's really Valak who is the star of the show here. She's the shark at the center of this religious-themed thriller, which is sure to send sharp shards of terror shooting down even the most hardened of spines. Bonnie Aarons is reprising her role as Valak from The Conjuring 2,...
