Daniel Radcliffeis best known as the titular hero of Harry Potter to many fans around the world. However, once the actor completed the eight-part movie saga, he turned his attention to more niche and meaningful roles across various genres. While some remember him for his villainous turn in The Lost City, and more recently starring in Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, one of his underrated horror films will soon be streaming for free.
Per Cbr, Hornswill debut on Pluto TV later this month, just in time for the (early) spooky season run. The movie is adapted from Joe Hill’s (Stephen King’s son) novel of the same name, which follows Radcliffe's character Ignatius "Ig" Perrish, who becomes the prime suspect when his girlfriend is sexually assaulted and killed. Daniel Radcliffe's most defining role so far has been the titular part in the Harry Potter film series. However, after the series ended in 2011, he ventured into different genres, including horror. In 2013, he starred in the adaptation of Stephen King's son Joe Hill's 2010 novel Horns.
The comedy-fantasy-horror was not a success in theaters, debuting with mixed reviews. Now, fans have a new chance to discover the fantasy horror, as Horns is officially heading to streaming for free on Pluto TV starting July 21, per theManchester Evening News.

A horror movie from 17 years ago, The Ruins, has found a new streaming home, and it will give fans another chance to see why this film was so scary. The Ruins is the feature directorial debut of Carter Smith, based on the novel and screenplay by Scott B. Smith. It follows two couples who visit a remote Mayan ruin in Mexico, only to learn to their horror that it is inhabited by a man-eating vine growth, which then targets them. With native villagers not allowing them to leave, these couples have to fight for their survival.
The acting talent included mostly fresh faces for 2008, with Jena Malone, Jonathan Tucker, Laura Ramsey, and The Rookie's Shawn Ashmore playing the two couples and Joe Anderson playing Mathias, a man looking for his missing brother. This horror film was a box office disappointment when it came out, not making back its budget,...

The latest news coming in hot is that Glen Powell, star of legacy sequels Top Gun: Maverick and Twisters, not forgetting Edgar Wright's upcoming adaptation of The Running Man, has potentially lined up another project that will bring back a bygone classic (in one form or another). He is reportedly set to star in an untitled movie about Texas blazes from director Ron Howard, who coincidentally helmed Universal's 1991 firefighting feature, Backdraft, starring Kurt Russell as one of the two feuding brothers on the trail of a serial arsonist.
The InSneider was the first to report on the project and while the initial details have not explicitly positioned it as a sequel to Backdraft, it certainly fans the flames of the long-rumored follow-up to the near 35-year-old action-thriller. Powell was linked to a Backdraft film last year, though that was said to be in the works at Imagine Entertainment.

You can't undersell the impact "Paranormal Activity" had on the found footage movie boom. While there were plenty of predecessors that made the horror subgenre feel downright revolutionary like "The Blair Witch Project" and "Cloverfield," Oren Peli's self-contained haunted house flick kicked the doors down when it came to studio interest. It delivered suspenseful thrills and chills on a micro-budget that allowed it to make an unbelievable profit for Paramount. Everyone tried to recapture the magic with varying levels of success.
Peli would spend the following years producing the "Paranormal Activity" and "Insidious" franchises, while conjuring an original idea for television with "Paranormal Activity 2" co-writer Michael R. Perry. The result was 2012's "The River," a found footage adventure-horror series that only ran for one season on ABC.

Quick LinksLiam Neeson's Pulse-Pounding Survival Thriller Hit'The Grey' Left a Powerful Impression on Famed Critic Roger Ebert
Liam Neeson once again proved he's one of the entertainment industry's most compelling leading men when he starred in the 2012 anxiety-inducing survival thriller The Grey, which sees the Taken actor as a highly-skilled sharpshooter who is tasked with protecting a crew of oil men at an Alaskan oil facility from the ever-present risk of a wolf attack. When their plane crashes in the icy and brutal wilderness on their flight home, the expert marksman rallies the team of survivors to venture into the rugged terrain in search of safety, only to find themselves stalked by a ravenous pack of grey wolves.
Both a celebrated critical and commercial feat, The Grey was a knockout upon its January 27, 2012 release and was yet another career high for Neeson, who by then had emerged as one of...

Too often, great TV shows -- particularly horror shows -- are gone before they even have a chance to shine. It's often one of the most frustrating things about being a fan. A series will come along with a fresh perspective, compelling characters, and just enough scares to keep you hooked, only for the network to pull the plug after just one season, with either storylines and mysteries left unresolved or the potential for more standalone stories cut short. Horror shows do seem to be particularly vulnerable to this phenomenon, often getting the axe before they can sink their teeth into a loyal audience.
Many horror series were, in fact, canceled after just a single season, despite having the potential to become cult classics. These series may not have had the longest runs, but their creativity, ambition, and ability to unsettle viewers left an unforgettable impression. From grindhouse-inspired gorefests to cerebral nightmares,...

The story of “Murder Company” occurs just days before D-Day, during World War II. The 82nd Airborne General Haskel (Kelsey Grammer), who sends a group of five soldiers on a covert mission to rescue a French Resistance member and kill a high-ranking Nazi officer, is the main character of the film. This project is full of moral ambiguity, which makes viewers ponder the moral problems with war.
The film, released on July 5th, Independence Day, presents a more complex exploration of duty and sacrifice. Audience members might anticipate stirring tales of heroism, but “Murder Company” leans more toward character-driven narratives, which deviates from typical war film formulas.
As we talk about the morality of war today, the book’s title, “Murder Company,” provocatively captures the duality of heroism and villainy in conflict. In the end, the film makes the audience grapple with difficult themes like the nature of heroism and the cost of war.

The Crazies has reached the #2 spot on the free streaming service Tubi, bringing the 15-year-old remake starring Timothy Olyphant relevant once more. The film takes place in the fictional town of Ogden Marsh, Iowa, which becomes infected by a biological agent that turns those infected by it into insane killers. While not a conventional zombie film by any means, it still plays into many tropes associated with the genre and, if anything, is scarier given the more intelligent nature of those infected in this film.
The film is a remake of the 1973 film of the same name, written and directed by zombie icon and legend George Romero. Unfortunately, the original film was considered a box office failure when it was first released in 1973 but has since been reexamined as a cult classic, thus leading to the remake in 2010, with Romero even serving as an executive producer for this updated version.

Tubi continues to be the gift that keeps giving this holiday season as another film is heading to the free streaming service in the new year. Iain Glen is a sturdy presence leading a Belgian village’s resistance to the German advance, but there are limp scenes and soggy cliches aplenty
Starting off with that forgettable title, this is a creaky drama that plods blandly through the fictional story of a Belgian farmer leading his village’s resistance to a plundering unit of Germans at the outbreak of the first world war. It all feels a bit familiar, and matters are not helped by the fact that the actors playing Belgians and Germans are all speaking in English in an assortment of accents. Oddly, some accents are more accenty than others; the German characters are all unmistakably German.
Game of Thrones’s Iain Glen is the film’s heavyweight, bringing a muscular presence to the role of the farmer, Leonard Lambert. At the beginning of the film, Leonard’s biggest worry is his son’s romance...

While much of Neesons action fare finds him doing battle with nameless henchmen, the 2012 survival action thriller The Grey finds him battling something else entirely: grief and wolves.
Co-written, produced and directed by Joe Carnahan, The Grey Frank Grillo, Dermot Mulroney, Dallas Roberts, Joe Anderson, Nonso Anozie, and James Badge Dale alongside Neeson, who leads the pack as a John Ottway, an expert sharpshooter working at a remote Alaskan oil facility. Grieving the loss of his wife, and wondering if life is even worth living, Ottway finds himself stranded with a small group after a plane crash. If that were not already bad enough, a pack of Canadian grey wolves has begun stalking them.

Neeson's dive into action with Taken sparked a successful path in the genre, paving the way for The Grey's chilling intensity. The Grey stands out as Neeson's peak action film, boasting critical acclaim and intense survival sequences. Compared to Taken, The Grey offers a bone-chilling fight for survival that solidifies Neeson's action star status.
Liam Neeson's best action film since 2008's Taken will soon be leaving streaming. The Ireland-born actor fosters an illustrious career dating back to the late 70s and has not only performed but excelled in films of various genres, i.e., the 1993 historical epic Schindler's List, for which he earned an Academy Award nomination and the 2004 biographical romance Kinsey that drew him a Golden Globe nomination. In 2008, Neeson unexpectedly took a chance at a genre with a bit more grit by starring in the cast of Pierre Morel's action thriller Taken and shone there, too.

A Belgian farmer fights to save his family and fellow villagers from a ruthless German soldier at the dawn of World War I. The Last Front depicts the horrifying slaughter of innocent civilians with frank realism and a poetic contrast to their gentle, bucolic lives. Director/co-writer Julien Hayet-Kerknawi channels Terrence Malick as we hear both a torn protagonist and his cruel adversary's inner thoughts. War forces peaceful men to violence while also feeding the worst instincts of a merciless invader. The Last Front doesn't quite succeed in every facet of its artistic intent, but is a powerfully emotional experience.
Set in Flanders, Belgium in August 1914, Commander Maximilian Von Rauch (Philippe Brenninkmeyer) leads a battalion of German soldiers towards rural villages. His son, Lt. Laurentz (Joe Anderson) sees no distinction between enemy soldiers and civilians. He executes women and children after one of his men is shot by a sniper.

Iain Glen, Ser Jorah Mormont in Game Of Thrones, is feisty as ever as a family man facing down the tumultuous start of World War I in The Last Front by Belgian filmmaker Julien Hayet-Kerknawi, the first release by his new indie label Enigma. It opens on 250 screens.
Metrograph Pictures is out with Good One, its first title since expanding into theatrical releasing under the leadership of former A24 executive David Laub. The debut feature by India Donaldson has great reviews at 96% with critics on Rotten Tomatoes and starts in limited release on three screens in New York and LA.
The theatrical market is pretty complicated right now and original independent films have fewer champions. These new indie distributors — and there are others — see a necessity and a business proposition in nurturing them.
“There is still very much an audience for these movies when they are really good,” Laub tells Deadline.

Director Julien Hayet-Kerknawi's war film, The Last Front, is set in a small Belgian village during the first days of World War I. Widower Leonard Lambert (Iain Glen) tends his farm and looks after his children. Tension mounts between him and his son, Adrien (James Downie), who has entered into a love affair with Louise Janssen (Sasha Luss), a young woman outside of his social class. Leonard warns him that he's asking Louise to make the same sacrifice his mother made, and stresses the hardship of life on a farm that grinds a woman down. He pleads with Adrien to let her go, but the pair are committed to one another. Meanwhile, two German officers, a father (Philippe Brenninkmeyer) and son (Joe Anderson), are locked in their own tense relationship, and when the two families cross paths, the impulsive young men ignite a spark that engulfs Leonard,...

While there have certainly been some interesting contenders, there has just never been a TV show quite like NBC's "Hannibal." The series began as something of a procedural, following a special FBI team working with criminal profiling instructor Will Graham (Hugh Dancy), whose empathy allows him to truly get into the minds of the killers he hunts. When he teams up with the talented psychologist Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen), however, things get really interesting. Over its three seasons, the show transforms from a procedural with a "murder of the week" format to something much more unconventional. Showrunner Bryan Fuller helped shape the series into a sumptuous, indulgent creation that followed a tragic romance between its two leads, spawning entire bookshelves' worth of fanfiction. It's a brilliant adaptation of author Thomas Harris' Hannibal Lecter novels, giving Lecter new depth and a surprising sensuality that was missing from other iterations.

William Moseley discusses his deep connection with his co-stars from the original Chronicles of Narnia franchise, even after nearly 20 years. Moseley expresses interest in returning to Narnia with his co-stars, but acknowledges it's unlikely. Murder Company, based on a true and seldom told World War II story, stars Moseley and other actors with family connections to the war, like Kelsey Grammer.
We spoke to English actor William Moseley during the leadup to his new film Murder Company, a World War II thriller out now that sees his heroic character leading an unlikely band of soldiers under the command of an imposing general played by Kelsey Grammer. If Moseley looks familiar to any youthful millennials out there, that's because he perhaps stole our hearts in the original Chronicles of Narnia films. The actor recently reunited with his co-stars of that franchise for a cozy dinner, and images were shared on social media.

Outsiders season 3 never happened due to WGN America's cancellation. The show's unique tone and characters earned a fanbase, but no movement for a new network. Creator Peter Mattei teased a Waco-style standoff in season 3, unresolved questions left fans curious.
Outsiders season 3 never happened despite the first two seasons making for tense, gritty television with great performances. There was no need to worry that Reba McEntire might mess up or bring any unnecessary flourishes to “The Star-Spangled Banner” when she performed the National Anthem prior to the Super Bowl on Sunday evening. Unlike anyone else who’d done it prior to the Bowl or any other major NFL game in recent memory, she brought a full half-century’s experience of singing the anthem to the occasion.
The year 2024 marks a special anniversary for the country superstar and her association with the song: She is often said to have been “discovered” 50 years ago when she sang it at the 1974 National Finals Rodeo in her home state of Oklahoma, when she was just 19.
McEntire’s latest rendition of the anthem was more fully orchestrated than some other recent versions — or even her own past readings — have been, with a pre-recorded horn section sending the song toward a big climax.

There’s a solid chance this month’s edition of “Revenge of the Remakes” ends up as one of my favorite column entries. George A. Romero’s The Crazies and Breck Eisner’s The Crazies inspire an exceptional case study about the peaceful coexistence between remakes and originals. Both filmmakers choose unique perspectives when dooming small-town America, even though the early 1970s and dawning 2010s validate eerily similar conspiracy paranoias. Stacking these Trixie-toxin thrillers back-to-back validates why remakes aren’t here to piss all over your safe, swaddling nostalgia blankets. Remakes aren’t the enemy — they’re a golden opportunity.
Romero’s The Crazies could only accomplish so much as a commentary against bureaucratic incompetence given the $270K budget. It benefits from a facelift, much like how Wes Craven’s The Hills Have Eyes reaches its full potential as a bloodthirsty 2000s revamp. That’s not a shot at legends...

When “Mrs. Davis” director and executive producer Owen Harris read the pilot script for the Peacock limited series, he had one response. “I sent an email straight back to my agent saying, ‘What the f–k have I just read?’” Harris tells Gold Derby in our Making of “Mrs. Davis” video roundtable exclusive interview. “And then I quickly followed it up with, ‘But I love it.
