A summer visit to the countryside takes a sharp, metaphysical turn in Isamu Imakake’s Dragon Heart: Adventures Beyond This World. The story centers on two young cousins, Ryusuke and Tomomi, whose idyllic afternoon by the Anabuki River ends in a tragedy that sweeps them from the world of the living. Their apparent deaths, however, are not an end but a violent transition.
Rescued from the torrent by a silent, powerful dragon, they are thrust into a bewildering spirit world. Here, an old guide informs them that a path back to life exists, but it is not easily won. They must traverse this strange new reality to discover their true mission in life.
The film immediately establishes itself as a unique animated fantasy, one that uses the structure of a coming-of-age story as a vessel for a journey into spiritual realms influenced by a fascinating synthesis of global religious traditions,...

Viz Media has officially acquired One Punch Man, as Season 3 is just a few months away at this point. It's been some time since we last laid eyes on Saitama, with the second season premiering way back in 2019. While the return was not certain previously, it's set in stone now with Season 3 of One Punch Man arriving later this year. Ahead of Anime Expo this week, Viz Media offered an exciting update for the coming season as the English dub voice cast for the upcoming third season was revealed. The negativity with which the second season was greeted means that Season 3 has triggered both fears and hype in equal measure.
Much of the team that voiced the characters in Season 2 are set to reprise their roles, but a voice actor who has been in the news quite a bit recently because of some controversy is joining the team. Taking to their official X account,...

The following contains minor spoilers for Demon Slayer.
The hit shonen anime series Demon Slayer may have a smaller cast of characters than competitors like One Piece and My Hero Academia, but it makes up for that with the sheer charm and unique designs of those characters. Demon Slayer's cast may be clearly divided between human heroes and demon villains, but there's still plenty of room for diverse and colorful character designs within that simple framework.
Throughout three anime seasons, Demon Slayer ushered in a delightful variety of characters for shonen fans to meet, from scrappy underdog heroes to cool, confident demon slayers to terrifying, memorable antagonists who haunt the night. Before Demon Slayer returns in the Spring 2024 anime season, fans are welcome to review all the...

Solo Leveling is an exciting fantasy action anime that just made its debut in the Winter 2024 anime season. In that anime world, magical portals appeared all over Korea, teeming with fantasy monsters straight out of Dungeons & Dragons or The Lord of the Rings. Bullets won't work on those creatures, so it's up to trained hunters to delve into those monsters' dungeons and wipe them out. That includes the underdog protagonist Jin-woo Sung, an E-rank hunter who can barely even fight goblins.
Now, Jin-woo is training on his own to become stronger, the first hunter to ever level up and gain new skills. Jin-woo is doing fairly well in his solo adventure so far, but like most action anime heroes, he could stand to learn from a few mentors and coaches. The anime world is populated with a variety of mentors who could definitely teach some valuable skills to Jin-woo...

Fire Emblem fans have plenty of reasons to be excited about the recently-released Fire Emblem Engage. Not only is it the latest entry into the famous strategy franchise, but it’s really a return to form for Fire Emblem after the series experimented with a few different ideas. It also features a massive roster of characters voiced by some pretty notable actors.
Seriously, Engage’s voice cast is impressive. It’s one thing to boast a roster of named and notable characters quite so large, and it’s quite another to give most of those characters their own name and voice. While you may only recognize the names of a few Fire Emblem voice actors on paper, you’ll almost certainly recognize many of them the moment you hear them in-game.
So whether you can’t quite place why that name is so familiar, or you just want a little...
