The proposed Zombieland TV series is moving forward at a rapid pace, after the news earlier this week that Amazon is in talks to produce the half-hour horror comedy. Tucker and Dale Vs. Evil director, Eli Craig, is now in talks to direct. It isn't known if he will only direct the pilot, or multiple episodes in the first season.
Zombieland screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick wrote the pilot script, which continues the adventures of Tallahassee, Columbus, Wichita, and Little Rock from the 2009 horror-comedy. The series will also include new characters Fred and Ainsley, who were office workers before the zombie outbreak. Zombieland director Ruben Fleischer will not be involved with the series, due to his commitments to several other pilots.
Gavin Polone will executive produce alongside Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. It isn't known if casting has already started. The series was first brought to CBS, but they passed on the project.

Last week, we reported that a TV series based on Zombieland is still moving forward, although it is unclear which network the show will be produced under.
Today, we have word that Zombieland is being developed as an original series for the Internet giant Amazon. If the show lands a series commitment, it will air on the website's instant video service. Back in October 2011, the pilot was being developed at Fox.
Zombieland screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick wrote the pilot, which will follow the further adventures of Tallahassee, Columbus, Wichita, and Little Rock. Those characters were portrayed by Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, and Abigail Breslin in the 2009 movie, although it seems unlikely that they will return for the series. The pilot also features new characters Fred and Ainsley, office workers who have their lunch orders delivered by Tallahassee, before the zombie apocalypse.

Back in October 2011, we reported that the hit horror-comedy Zombieland was being adapted into a TV series by Fox and Sony Pictures Television. The project is still alive and well, with casting currently under way. Pages from Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick's Zombieland pilot script have leaked, which reveal characters from the movie such as Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson), Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg), Wichita (Emma Stone), and Little Rock (Abigail Breslin) will be altered slightly. Take a look at these character breakdowns, including information on new characters Fred and Ainsley.
"Tallahassee is still kind of a snarky weirdo, but he seems to have a much less spiky relationship with Columbus. He and Columbus have a pretty amusing thing where they riff on the fact that Steven Seagal movies always have three-word titles like "Marked for Justice" or "May Cause Diarrhea." But Tallahassee also dispenses homespun wisdom about how to feel happy with your life.
