Al Murray in Happy Hour (2007)
A+E Networks’ History Asks ‘Why Does Everyone Hate The English?’ With Comedian Al Murray – Edinburgh
Al Murray in Happy Hour (2007)
Exclusive: Why does everyone hate the English? That’s the question being posed by British comedian Al Murray in a five-part series for A+E Networks’ History.

The British pay broadcaster has ordered Al Murray: Why Does Everyone Hate The English? from Last Week Tonight with John Oliver producer Avalon.

The comedian, famous for his Pub Landlord alter ego, will find out what lies behind England’s greatest feuds with its closest neighbours: Wales, Scotland, Ireland, Germany and France. Each episode will see Murray partner with a local comedian and proud patriot – Antoine de Caunes in France, Henning Wehn in Germany, Fred MacAulay in Scotland, Elis James in Wales and Andrew Maxwell in Ireland – to explore stories of historic battles, massacres, riots and revolutions that have set the tone for our modern relationships with our closest neighbours.

The series, which will debut in the autumn, is directed by Top Gear’s Andrew Fettis,...

Big Brother Blog Report: Day 41
Day 41

Caoimhe is gone. And good riddance. Never have I hated a countryman so much since Andrew Maxwell let the team down. She was bitchy, boring and devious. The world will turn without her.

Josie’s recent problem with Caoimhe was blown out of proportion and the result of a woman becoming obsessed by her love/like/hate relationship with John James (delete as applicable to the day). And on some levels I do feel that Josie needed to drop it a long time ago. But the problem is, Caoimhe knew she did something stupid by flirting with Jj and rather than tackle the problem head on she weasled away from the responsibility. Her efforts to avoid the situation were so deepset that she even threw up in the bathroom out of sheer embarrassment.

She has left to carry on her crazy love for the infamous “Dave” outside of the house.

Little deal-making at Just for Laughs
Bruce Hills
Montreal -- Montreal's Just for Laughs comedy festival wrapped its English-language industry showcase over the weekend without U.S. network talent scouts pulling out their wallets.

As in recent years, performing comics secured hearty applause and the occasional standing ovation at comedy's Woodstock, with possible deal-making to follow down the road after meetings back in Los Angeles or New York.

The big stage in Montreal as ever was the twice-nightly galas at the St. Denis Theatre, hosted Saturday night by Steve Martin, who brought his banjo and his Steep Canyon Rangers bluegrass band.

"It feels good to be doing something purely for the money," Martin joked while making his first-ever Just for Laughs appearance.

Dane Cook was a late and unpublicized addition to the gala bill, at the request of Martin.

"No one expected Cook, so it really surprised and delighted the (St. Denis) audience," Just for Laughs COO Bruce Hills said Sunday.
