Barton Cowperthwaite, known for his role in Netflix’s ballet drama series Tiny Pretty Things, shared in a heartfelt Instagram post that he had been diagnosed with a brain tumor. Accompanied by photos of himself alongside what appeared to be his Ct scans, Cowperthwaite shared the details of his condition.

Comedian Sandi Toksvig has given fans an update on her health after being admitted to hospital.

The 64-year-old Bake Off presenter was touring Australia when she contracted bronchial pneumonia. She was then taken to hospital for treatment.

Writing on Twitter, Toksvig said: “Thank you to everyone who has sent such kind words while I’ve been unwell. I am now out of hospital and continuing my convalescence in Australia until I’m fit to fly home.

“My undying (literally) thanks to the amazing Australian health service.”

Before being sent to hospital, Toksvig had performed dates in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide, and had been due to tour New Zealand next week, with dates lined up in Christchurch, Wellington and Auckland.

Pretty Smart is not returning to Netflix for a second season. The Emily Osment-starring multi-camera comedy Pretty Smart will not be returning to Netflix for a second season, according to TVLine. Created by Jack Dolgen and Doug Mand, the series revolves around Chelsea (Osment), a Harvard-educated, aspiring novelist who moves in with her bubbly and not-so-intellectual sister Claire (Olivia Macklin) after being dumped by her boyfriend. The tough and sometimes stand-offish Chelsea soon finds herself dealing with her carefree sister and her three lovably eccentric roommates. In addition to Osment and Macklin, the cast also included Gregg Sulkin (Faking It) as the distractingly handsome personal trainer Grant, Cinthya Carmona (Greenhouse Academy) as former lawyer turned healer Solana, and Michael Hsu Rosen (Tiny Pretty Things) as social media influencer Jayden. Osment started out as a child actress, co-starring as Gerti Giggles in the Spy Kids sequel movies. She is perhaps best known for playing Lilly Truscott in the Disney Channel television series Hannah Montana.

The news comes shortly after TVLine reported that Emily Osment has been elevated to series-regular status on CBS’ Young Sheldon.

Pretty Smart is not your average silly sitcom, according to the Netflix comedy's stars. The new series, which dropped on the streamer on Oct. 8, follows scholar Chelsea (Emily Osment) as she moves into her free-spirited sister Claire's (Olivia Macklin) house, joining influencer Jayden (Michael Hsu Rosen), healer Solana (Cinthya Carmona) and personal trainer Grant (Gregg Sulkin). Initially, this situation feels like a personal circle of hell for Chelsea, but, over time, she soon realizes that there's more to these stereotypical Los Angeles residents. Netflix announced that the third and final season of “Narcos: Mexico” will premiere on Nov. 5 and released some first looks at the episodes.

This third and final season follows the war that breaks out after Felix’s arrest and the new Mexican kingpins who emerge as newly independent cartels navigate political turmoil and escalating violence.

Returning series regulars include Scoot McNairy, José María Yázpik, Alfonso Dosal, Mayra Hermosillo, Matt Letscher, Manuel Masalva, Alejandro Edda and Gorka Lasaosa. New cast members include Luis Gerardo Méndez, Alberto Guerra and Luisa Rubino, with guest star Bad Bunny aka Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio.

Exclusive: Netflix’s multi-camera comedy series from Jack Dolgen, Doug Mand and Kourtney Kang has rounded out its lead cast with the addition of Olivia Macklin, Michael Hsu Rosen and Cinthya Carmona. They will star opposite Emily Osment and Gregg Sulkin in the project, created and written by Dolgen and Mand and directed by Pamela Fryman.

The Untitled Dolgen/Mand/Kang Project centers on a snooty, self-proclaimed intellectual (Osment) forced to move in with her carefree sister and her sister’s lovably eccentric friends, played by Sulkin, Hsu, Rosen and Carmona.

Macklin will play Claire, scatterbrained optimist and the world’s worst waitress (although the customers love her). She lives a carefree life, surrounded by her best friends. Claire is excited at the prospect of finally bonding with her older sister, Chelsea. Like, really really really really excited!

Tiny Pretty Things is coming to Netflix, and the streaming service has now released a trailer and set a premiere date for the ballet drama. Lauren Holly, Kylie Jefferson, Casimere Jollette, Daniela Norman, Brennan Clost, Michael Hsu Rosen, Damon J. The 32nd annual NewFest, New York’s LGBTQ Film Festival is bringing queer cinema to audience’s homes this year in response to the coronavirus pandemic. The diverse offerings at this year’s virtual festival should delight LGBTQ cinephiles of many tastes. The queer film fest will offer screenings through October 27, and the following five movies are some of the best on display.

“Ammonite”

NewFest 2020 is not completely devoid of in-person events, thanks to a select few drive-in screenings. The first of which was “Ammonite,” the highest profile awards contender of the lineup. The film by Francis Lee depicts the real life relationship between paleontologist Mary Anning (Kate Winslet) and a young woman (Saorise Ronan) in the 1840s. Those in attendance at the Queen’s Drive-In were lucky enough not only to experience the sweeping period romance, but also witnessed Winslet virtually present the inaugural World Queer Visionary Award to director Francis Lee.

The horror genre is a fun one in that it can go in many directions, but it is often dominated by men in front of and behind the camera. Hulu’s new anthology series Monsterland, which debuts Friday, subverts that expectation with a female showrunner and a cast and crew dominated by women.

Monsterland creator and showrunner Mary Laws was joined by actress Kelly Marie Tran and director of photography Anka Malatynska and director Desiree Akhavan at the virtual PaleyFest Fall TV Previews event to talk about the new series and how it champions female narratives.

Hulu announced premiere dates for its Animaniacs revival, anthology drama Monsterland, two other new series and a Greta Thunberg documentary during its virtual Ctam panel today.

The new Animaniacs, from Amblin Television and Warner Bros. Animation and again exec produced by Steven Spielberg, will bow Friday, November 20 — some 22 years after the original wrapped its run. Hulu’s new anthology drama Monsterland will premiere on Friday, October 2; Eater’s Guide to the World will be served up Wednesday, November 11; and new drama No Man’s Land bows Wednesday, November 18.

I Am Greta, a feature-length docu about the teenage climate change activist from Sweden, will begin streaming Friday, November 13, on Hulu.

Hulu has announced that the Steven Spielberg-produced reboot of the classic ’90s cartoon will premiere Nov. 20 on the platform, a full 22 years after its final episode.

The premiere date news comes over two years after Hulu handed the revival a two-season series order. This new version of the family friendly cartoon will see Warner siblings, Yakko and Wakko, and the Warner sister Dot, have a great time wreaking havoc and mayhem in the lives of everyone they meet. Joining the trio will be fan-favorites Pinky and the Brain, who will also return to continue their quest for world domination in 13 episodes. A second season consisting of 13 more episodes will be heading to Hulu sometime in 2021.

Hulu announced the premiere dates for several of its upcoming 2020 originals during a virtual Ctam panel Friday, including the launches for the “Animaniacs” reboot, the supernatural anthology “Monsterland,” the Greta Thunberg documentary film “I Am Greta,” the drama “No Man’s Land” and the Maya Rudolph-narrated series “Eater’s Guide to the World.”

First up is “Monsterland,” which begins streaming on Hulu Friday, Oct. 2. Then “Eater’s Guide to the World” launches Wednesday, Nov. 11, followed a couple of days later by the premiere of “I Am Greta” on Friday, Nov. 13. “No Man’s Land” debuts Wednesday, Nov. 18, just before Steven Spielberg’s long-awaited return of “Animaniacs” drops Friday, Nov. 20.
