Hong Kong -- Shares in Beijing-based Bona Film Group are set to start trading on Thursday on the Nasdaq stock exchange in New York.
The Chinese film investment, production and distribution company run by CEO Yu Dong priced its shares at $8.50 each, at the upper end of the expected range of $7- $9.
In an initial float, Bona sold 11.7 million primary American Depositary Shares to raise $99.5 million, short of the $121.5 million goal set in its Nov. 17 filing papers.
The company, which has lost $7.5 million this year, is in the process of promoting a U.S. release of What Women Want, starring Gong Li in a Chinese language remake of the 2000 film starring Helen Hunt and Marisa Tomei.
Bona's U.S. listing is the latest in a raft of high-profile Chinese media company's sales overseas, including that of China's largest online video sharing web site, Youku, which raised an initial $203 million on...

Jan de Bont (Speed director), will be in charge for the upcoming live-action version of Mulan, based on an original 6th century poem.
And, lovely Zhang Ziyi, that we all remember from titles like Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, will be starring in the title role of Mulan. Sounds perfect?
Mulan is the story of the legendary heroine/soldier who joins an all-male army. We’re all familiar with the character from the Disney animated film of the same name that was released back in 1998.
As we said, the story dates back to the 6th century, although it has been set in a variety of different time periods. What can we expect from this new De Bont’s version?
We have no idea, but we know that John Blickstead is writing the screenplay for the new film production of the Chinese Joan of Arc story.

I'm not certain this is a marked improvement, but it could be. Chuck Russell was the guy brought in to direct a live-action Mulan starring Zhang Ziyi. Embarrassingly, even though this is financed by a consortium of production companies from around the world, this adaptation of the national legend will be made...in English. Stupid.
Anyway, Russell is out, and that was not the smartest move, either, when we reported it a few weeks back. Now the film will fall to Jan de Bont, who made Speed, Twister, and nothing else I can recommend. His last movie, officially, was the Tomb Raider sequel, although there was some French action thing with John Cusack de Bont was working on for a couple years but the money dried up.
The Hollywood Reporter quotes producer Jeffrey Chan as saying, "“We’re absolutely thrilled to be able to work with Jan and Ziyi to...

The movie sees Mda partner with Korea's Cj Entertainment and Beijing-based Polybona Film Distribution on the project.
Gam-Sung's picture will be produced by Singapore's Bang Prods. and Korea's Nabi Pictures.
Set in China's Yunnan province, the comedy road movie centers on an arrogant Korean pop idol who flees to China to escape paparazzi following scandals at home.
The project marks Singapore's second film co-production with Korea. The first, "Host 2" from Singapore's Boku Films and Korea's Chungeorahm Films, is being sold here during Afm.
