‘South Park’ Takes on Trump in Season 27 Premiere as Creators Ink $1.5 Billion Deal
Image
South Park returned to television on Wednesday after a nearly two-and-a-half-year hiatus, kicking its 27th season off with a hilarious and, as expected, controversial premiere, where the show took on President Donald Trump, showing a depiction of him in bed with series regular, Satan.

Government censorship, the death of wokeness, ChatGPT, and religion in the nation’s public schools were the main topics of the season premiere. After Cartman learns of the cancellation of the radio show where “liberals bitch and whine about stuff,” an assembly is called by series favorite PC Principal, who introduces a guest at an assembly: Jesus Christ. Before the first act break, the town’s parents are rioting and a cut-out of President Trump turns up, as the plot shifts to the White House and a president at odds with Canada and lying naked in bed with Satan.

In a promo clip for the episode,...

Where to Watch ‘South Park’ Season 27: When Do New Episodes Stream?
Image
It’s been two years since “South Park” last hit our screens, but the boys of South Park, Colorado, are back in town, and they’ve locked in a new streaming home.

The delay isn’t by accident; back in November, creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker shared that they planned to hold off the premiere for Season 27 so they wouldn’t have to cover another Presidential Election, as they have in previous seasons. But Stone and Parker also mentioned last year that the later release comes as they wait for Paramount — their new streaming partners — to “figure all their s–t out.”

Luckily, they have, in the form of a $1.5 billion, five-year global streaming deal. It’s all set to land on Comedy Central, but right now, streaming details are a bit tricky. In the meantime, here’s everything you need to know about when, where and how to watch.

Is Paramount+ Sneak-Dissing ‘South Park’ By Putting It in the ‘Cringeworthy’ Category?
Image
After weeks of public conflict and embarrassment, Paramount+ may retain the streaming rights to South Park after all, but there’s nothing in the contract that says they can’t stay pissy in the main menu.

According to industry insiders, Paramount Global is in advanced negotiations with South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone over a settlement that would avoid a lawsuit between the parties and secure an extension to the lucrative overall South Park contract. After Parker and Stone publicly accused Paramount and its prospective new owners at Skydance Media of meddling in their negotiations with other streaming giants following the breakdown of the initial extension talks, the South Park creators seemed poised to go to war with Paramount and its partners on more fronts than just social media and strongly worded letters.

Then, over the weekend, Hollywood insider Matthew Belloni reported that Paramount was making major strides...

Racist Roasted for Thinking That ‘South Park’ Actually Took A Stand Against ‘Minorities’ at Water Parks
Image
An alt-right podcaster thinks that Trey Parker and Matt Stone were making an anti-“minority” political statement with the Season 13 South Park episode “Pee.” He’s going to be so pissed when he finds out what didn’t happen in 2012.

The general rule of thumb for engaging with the satire of South Park — yes, South Park is a satirical show — is that, if you find yourself agreeing with Eric Cartman’s bizarre and hateful political stance that week, you’re probably a big fat unloved asshole just like him. Unfortunately, the nature of Parker and Stone’s “both sides are equally dumb” approach to social issues and the collective third-grade reading level of South Park’s sizable following in the far right has led so many South Park fans to believe that Cartman is a cultural prophet whose many prejudices represent the creators’ authorial intent.

In recent years, the tendency...

‘South Park’ Global Fans Furious as Show Pulled From Paramount+ Amid Licensing Dispute
Image
International fans of Stan, Kyle, Cartman and Kenny were left reeling last week after South Park was pulled off streaming service Paramount+ amid an ongoing licensing dispute between the show’s creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone and Comedy Central’s parent company, Paramount Global.

The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that Paramount+’s international license to stream episodes of the long-running animated series has expired, forcing the streamer to pull the show off its global service. Outside the U.S., Paramount+ is available in the English-speaking territories of Canada, Australia, the U.K. and Ireland; in France, Italy and German-speaking Europe; in Japan, and across Latin America.

Threads on the South Park subreddit and social media have lit up with foul-mouthed complaints from international fans, most of them directed at Paramount and David Ellison’s Skydance Media, whose $8 billion buyout of Paramount is at the heart of the South Park dispute.

South Park Takes a Big Hit in Brutal Streaming Rights Battle
Image
South Parksuffers another major issue as the hit series is pulled from Paramount+ almost everywhere.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, it has been confirmed that Paramount+ has lost the streaming rights to South Park in international markets. As of now, South Park is only available for streaming on Paramount+ in the United States, although it is noted that the platform is in continued negotiations with rights holders and is hoping to bring the series back worldwide in the coming days.

The news comes as South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone are already struggling to negotiate the streaming rights for the series due to the ongoing Paramount/Skydance merger. Earlier this month, the pair released a statement through the official South Park social media page addressing the release date of the series hotly-anticipated 27th season being pushed back.

The statement reads, "In response to the press release from Comedy Central...

How Game Of Thrones Writer George R.R. Martin Felt About His South Park Parody
Image
"South Park" is one of the best cartoons of modern times, full of biting commentary, hilarious situations, and a whole town's worth of memorable side characters. The show's humor has made it kind of a cultural Rorschach test for over a quarter of a century, having earned legions of defenders but also people who have tried to ban it and yielding many opinions on whether the satire is effective or just plain offensive.

Part of the appeal of "South Park" is the way it parodies pop culture and celebrities, which have had mixed reactions by its subjects. Reportedly, Tom Cruise hated his portrayal, as did Ed Sheeran, while others loved to be a part of the show, like most of the Jonas Brothers and George Clooney (the latter of whom was an important early supporter of the series).

One of the show's best parodies is its three-episode "Game of Thrones" parody,...

'South Park' Fans Furious As All Seasons Vanish From Paramount+ After Just 10 Days

South Park fans have been waiting a long time to see all episodes – with a few notable omissions – land on Paramount+ ahead of the new season. However, after arriving on July 1 in the U.S., it looks elsewhere in the world, fans were devastated to discover that they can no longer binge their way through the animated antics of Stan, Kyle, Cartman, and Kenny outside the U.S.

Recently, fans were hit with the bad news that Season 27 is being pushed back to July 23, and now even that is uncertain following the latest drama surrounding the series and Paramount’s recent licensing battle with HBO Max. What is more, it doesn’t look like those episodes will be returning to Paramount+ anytime soon, as they have issued a statement offering subscribers the option to cancel if they are unhappy with the latest developments. After fans bombarded Paramount with questions on social media,...

I Played the Live-Action Cartman on ‘South Park’
Image
Throughout the vast history of South Park, Stan, Kyle, Kenny and Cartman have appeared in live-action form precisely three times. The very first time occurs in a Netherlands-only short from 2010, but the instance that’s probably best remembered is the 2012 episode “I Should Have Never Gone Ziplining.”

It’s a parody of the now-defunct series I Shouldn’t Be Alive, which retold people’s harrowing survival events with reenactments. For the South Park foursome, the event is a very boring ziplining adventure that takes a turn for the worse when Cartman gets explosive diarrhea. While most of the episode is animated per usual, the reenactments, which take place on a boat, are done with real actors, including live-action versions of Stan, Kyle, Kenny and Cartman. Cartman’s part is especially memorable, if only because at one point he shits off the side of the boat.

I recently tracked down the guy who played live-action Cartman,...

Five Legitimately Wholesome Things About ‘South Park’
Image
For almost 30 years, South Park has been filled with raunchy, offensive and vulgar humor on just any topic you can think of. It’s crossed boundaries no other show has before and depicted true acts of horror — from Indiana Jones getting raped by George Lucas and Steven Spielberg to the time Eric Cartman tricked another kid into eating his own parents.

Still, every so often, the show is capable of being sweet — even downright wholesome. While it’s exceedingly rare, there are some aspects of the show that tug at the heartstrings.

Here are five of them…

5 When the Kids Actually Play Like Kids

Most of the time, the kids of South Park talk and behave like miniature adults, but every now and again, co-creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone depict them playing together like actual children. A great example is in “The Return of the Fellowship of the Ring to the Two Towers” when,...

‘South Park’ Hopes the Return of a Popular Character Will Pacify Angry Fans
Image
As South Park fans are well aware, the show’s Season 27 premiere date has been delayed from July 9th to July 23rd. And creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone wasted no time in stating that this is all due to Paramount’s “shitshow” of a merger with Skydance Media, which is “fucking up South Park.”

In an apparent effort to save face, Comedy Central released a new poster for the season with its updated date. But instead of simply proclaiming that “South Park is Back!” the name of the show is obscured by faux graffiti reading “Jesus.”

Sure enough, the image features Mr. Garrison’s fourth-grade class — including Stan, Kyle, Cartman, Kenny, Wendy and even DogPoo — posing for a photograph along with PC Principal and the familiar cartoon figure of Jesus Christ.

Jesus, of course, has been a prominent fixture in the world of South Park since day one, when...

‘South Park’ Creators Slam Studio Merger for Season 27 Delay of Beloved Comedy Series
Image
South Park is officially returning later this month—but its creators aren’t exactly thrilled with how things are playing out behind the scenes. After Comedy Central confirmed that South Park Season 27 has been delayed from July 9 to July 23, co-creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone didn’t hold back in a strongly worded response.

“This merger is a s–tshow and it’s f–king up South Park,” the duo wrote on the show’s official social channels. “We are at the studio working on new episodes and we hope the fans get to see them somehow.”

That “merger” would be the upcoming (and increasingly messy) union between Skydance Media and Paramount Global, which co-owns South Park Digital Studios alongside Parker and Stone. The merger has already begun to wreak havoc behind the scenes, with ongoing negotiations for new streaming rights stalled and key executives like incoming Paramount president Jeff Shell...

‘South Park’ Creators Blast Paramount Over Season 27 Release Date Delay
Image
Things are not pretty behind the scenes at South Park, at least regarding its very lucrative streaming rights, which have become a bone of contention during the Paramount and Skydance merger. It has been more than two years since a new season of the series premiered and fans will have to wait a little bit longer to catch up with Cartman, Stan, Kyle and Kenny, once again.

Per Deadline, South Park Season 27 was set to premiere on Jul. 9, but that has now been pushed back to Jul. 23. Comedy Central released a new poster for the series to address the date change, but creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone are not staying quiet as to why this change is taking place. There has been a very public battle and potential legal action over South Park's streaming rights, and the Paramount and Skydance merger is the main culprit, at least according to Parker and Stone.

South Park season premiere is pushed back to July 23 as the show’s streaming deals get sorted out

South Park‘s season 27 premiere was originally scheduled to broadcast on Comedy Central on July 9, but Deadline is now reporting that the date has been pushed back to July 23. However, Comedy Central is still promoting the new season of the popular animated satire from Trey Parker and Matt Stone. They have recently released a poster, which is a class picture showcasing the main characters, plus the return of Jesus.

‘South Park’ Creators Say Skydance-Paramount Merger Is “a Sh**show” and Is “F***ing Up” Their Show

South Park season 27 has been delayed by Comedy Central amid a streaming-rights battle between the creators and the channel’s parent company, Paramount Global. Trey Parker and Matt Stone are not taking the delay lying down.

‘South Park’ Season 27 Premiere Date Pushed By Comedy Central Amid Streaming Deal Uncertainty; Series Creators React
Image
Updated: South Park fans who have waited for more than two years to get a new season of the hit animated comedy, will have to wait a little bit longer — the Season 27 premiere on Comedy Central, originally slated for July 9, is being moved to July 23. The network has released a new poster for the upcoming season, touting the return of Stan, Kyle, Cartman, Kenny and other popular characters, including Jesus.

The delay comes amid tension — including a legal threat — over South Park‘s lucrative streaming rights as the series was caught in the uncertainty over Skydance’s pending acquisition of Comedy Central parent Paramount Global, which co-owns the joint venture behind South Park, South Park Digital Studios, with series creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone who run it.

Rediscover the Long Lost ‘South Park’ Shorts
Image
Even the most casual South Park fan knows that the show began as an animated short, or an animated “Christmas card,” as they referred to it. Created in 1992, when Matt Stone and Trey Parker were still students at the University of Colorado, The Spirit of Christmas featured Jesus fighting Frosty the Snowman.

They followed that up with another short three years later, also called The Spirit of Christmas, but this time Jesus fought Santa. This second short was the one that made Parker and Stone famous and led to the creation of South Park.

However, even some South Park die-hards don’t know that Parker and Stone never really stopped making shorts. From 1997 until 2000, they made roughly a dozen shorts for Comedy Central, then at least one short every couple of years thereafter. The most recent one premiered in 2020.

Here’s your guide to every one of these lost shorts — okay,...

A.I. Slop Accounts Are Trying to Start A War Between ‘South Park’ and Rachel Zegler
Image
South Park is waging an all-out war on “Woke Disney” and winning, according to fans of the show whose Facebook feeds are full of African children building fruit statues of Jesus on their birthdays.

Eighteen months ago, South Park gave conservative culture warriors their favorite rallying cry of “Put a chick in it and make her gay!” with their streaming special South Park: Joining the Panderverse. In classic “both sides are equally stupid” South Park fashion, Trey Parker and Matt Stone used the special to skewer the perceived shift toward “wokeness” within the Disney movie empire as well as the backlash from right-wing, Cartman-esque keyboard warriors. But, as is so often the case in the South Park fandom, millions of viewers chose to focus exclusively on the former cultural critique, deciding that South Park was officially on the side of grown men who spend six hours a day tweeting...

Five Classic Sitcom Characters Based on Other Classic Sitcom Characters
Image
Last week, when stopping by Will Friedle’s Magical Rewind podcast, former Blossom star Joey Lawrence made a rather audacious claim: Matt LeBlanc’s Joey Tribbiani character from Friends was a direct rip-off of his Blossom character Joey Russo. He even said NBC sent LeBlanc to watch Blossom during tapings, and that LeBlanc sat in the audience with a notepad, studying how to make his future Friends character both a charming womanizer and an innocent, lovable guy.

People immediately cried foul over Lawrence seemingly taking credit for a character more beloved and better remembered than his own. “Does this guy really think he was that important?” reads one comment on the podcast’s Instagram post. “Sure. Keep telling yourself that,” another scolds. Other commenters even pointed out that LeBlanc played a very Joey-like character on Married… with Children years before Friends.

While Lawrence’s claim seems suspect, there are many...

South Park has spent three decades establishing a deep well of characters. So you can’t blame the show for trying to make the most of them — at times even resurrecting characters who haven’t been seen since the Clinton administration. Case in point: In 2010, most South Park fans were shocked at the return of Mecha-Streisand, last seen in 1998, and the promo for the upcoming season of South Park suggests Starvin’ Marvin’s return — even though he hasn’t appeared since 1999.

However, not all characters are so luckily resurrected, no matter how memorable they may have been. Below are five characters who stole the show when they appeared on South Park, but haven’t been invited back since.

1 Scuzzlebutt

Before South Park started to include more political and topical humor, the show relied on inspired silliness to generate laughs. The second episode, in which Stan’s Uncle Jimbo takes the boys hunting and camping,...

‘South Park’s Manbearpig Regularly Scares Children at Casa Bonita
Image
One of South Park’s rare mea culpas involved ManBearPig, the grotesque creature that was first introduced in Season 10 as a way for the show to parody Al Gore’s An Inconvenient Truth climate-change panic. But more than a decade later, ManBearPig was revealed to be a 100-percent real and super cereal threat to people’s lives in a Season 22 episode.

“We just felt like, of all of our episodes, that one has not aged very well,” Matt Stone admitted during a 2019 interview. “And we came up with a funny idea how to use ManBearPig as a parable.”

Even the real Gore publicly claimed that he was “impressed” by the show's about-face on the subject of ManBearPig, calling the episode “a hell of a statement by South Park” during an audience Q&a segment of The Daily Show.

While ManBearPig hasn’t been seen on South Park for quite a while,...

10 Best Fake TV Shows From Other Movies And TV Shows
Image
We don't normally watch TV to watch other people watching TV, but when the satire is sharp or the allegory strong, the fictional shows within some of our favorite shows and movies can be funnier, more extreme, or even more transformative than any that would possibly exist or be greenlit in reality. Beavis and Butt-Head's reactions to generic TV shows and music videos comment both on what the messages are in the medium and how they're received by the target audience, and the holographic entertainment watched by Wookiees in "The Star Wars Holiday Special" tell us that TV under the rule of the Empire is insanely terrible.

Sometimes we're quite envious of what the fictional characters get to see. Even if some of the shows in their universe might seem odd to us, they look like they would work well in the contexts of their own reality. A program that...

“Our Skin Wasn’t as Thick”: Joe Jonas Opens Up About the Jonas Brothers’ Reaction to 'South Park' Skit
Image
It's no secret that South Park enjoys satirizing real-world events and celebrities. However, according to Joe Jonas, not everyone in the Jonas Brothers was thrilled with how they were portrayed in the show. The band appeared in the Season 13 episode "The Ring," which mocked their relationship with Disney. As Jonas put it, creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone didn't pull any punches.

In a preview clip for the upcoming Last Meals episode featuring Joe Jonas, the singer recalls watching the South Park episode with his brothers. While he personally found it funny, as he was a fan of the show, he acknowledged that his brothers had mixed reactions. Jonas said he understood that South Park targets everyone and actually appreciated that the creators considered the band culturally relevant enough to include. He recognized that the joke wasn’t really about them but about Mickey Mouse's control and influence, with...

Trey Parker and Matt Stone Didn’t Think ‘South Park’ Fans Would Care Who Cartman’s Father Was
Image
South Park fans should have known that something was up when the Season Two premiere was scheduled for April 1, 1998.

Back when South Park was first starting out and hadn’t yet evolved into a billion-dollar multimedia franchise, series creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone had no way of gauging exactly how passionate their fledgling fanbase would be. Hell, even 28 years after South Park premiered, Parker and Stone are still waiting for the other shoe to drop and for interest in the show to instantly evaporate along with their lucrative contracts. But somehow, in its first season, South Park earned a renewal from Comedy Central, which inspired Parker and Stone to plant a fake cliffhanger in the Season One finale to set up some inter-season shenanigans that would lead to one of the biggest controversies of the early series.

In the Season One finale “Cartman’s Mom Is a Dirty Slut,...

A Controversial MTV Show Made Jennifer Lopez Furious
Image
It's not uncommon for famous people to get parodied on animated programs in a less-than-flattering way. "South Park" does it all the time, and while "The Simpsons" oftentimes gets real-life celebrities to voice themselves as guests, there are times when they change the celeb's name and have someone else do their voice, usually if the portrayal is an outright parody of the person. (See: Rainier Wolfcastle and Dreaderick Tatum standing in respectively for Arnold Schwarzenegger and Mike Tyson in multiple episodes.) Then you've got MTV's "Celebrity Deathmatch," which originally ran from 1998 to 2002. For the younger readers out there, the show can be best described as WWE's "Monday Night Raw" meets "Mortal Kombat," but with claymation versions of celebrities taking part in violently over-the-top in-ring battles.

While many celebrities parodied on the above shows take it on the chin, there are some who can't help but get offended by their portrayals.

‘South Park’ Has a Long History of Inserting Real Fans into Episodes
Image
Unless you’re a politician, an annoying celebrity or a rock star with the power to transform into a Streisand-battling Kaiju, chances are you’ll never be immortalized in an episode of South Park.

But there is one way that it could happen. South Park Studios recently announced a “Become a Permanent Resident of South Park!” contest. One lucky winner will get the “opportunity to be animated into a custom South Park character and appear in the new 2025 season.”

Fans can enter the contest by donating to The SoCal Fire Fund. “A majority of our crew and the South Park production studio are in Los Angeles,” a statement from the show reads, “and several people were directly impacted by the fires in Pasadena, Altadena and Palisades, which makes your support and donations even more meaningful. This cause means a lot to us — and so do the fans who have supported us all these years.

Five ‘South Park’ Characters Who Disappeared Without Explanation
Image
Kenny has notoriously died over 100 times, but many other South Park characters have been killed off over the years after Matt Stone and Trey Parker seemingly grow bored of them. Pip is crushed by Barbra Streisand, Ms. Crabtree is murdered by a serial killer and Ms. Choksondik swallows brine shrimp — just to name a few.

But plenty of other once-prominent characters have disappeared without explanation, and usually without fanfare. Or else they’ve been demoted to the point where they haven’t spoken in years, appearing only in crowd shots.

Here are five South Park characters, once pretty integral to the show, that haven’t been heard from in far too long. Maybe someone should check in on them?

5 Nurse Gollum

Nurse Gollum first arrives in the Season Two’s “Conjoined Fetus Lady” as the new school nurse. She appears a bit later in Season Two in “Roger Ebert Should...

South Park Is Getting a New Streaming Home, but 1 Big Question Remains
Image
South Parkhas been a staple in Comedy Central’s lineup since it premiered nearly 30 years ago, and after two years, the raunchy animated comedy is returning for its 27th season on July 9. Curiously, though, the series created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone has been streaming on HBO Max for several years. That will change soon, though, as per Deadline, Paramount’s exclusive $500 million streaming licensing agreement with HBO Max is set to expire on June 30.

That means, for the first time in quite a while, fans of Cartman and the gang will be able to stream the upcoming season and the entire back catalog of South Park on Paramount+, Comedy Central’s streaming sibling.

Could South Park Stream on Two Platforms?

There’s still the question of whether South Park will also continue to stream on HBO Max. Deadline reports that there are rumblings that South Park could remain on HBO Max,...

We Still Aren’t Sure Where ‘South Park’ Will Stream This Year
Image
We’re only weeks away from the first new episodes of South Park in two years, but fans are rightfully confused about exactly where they’ll watch Stan, Cartman and the gang. Even the streamers who have contracts with Trey Parker and Matt Stone don’t know for sure what comes next.

Deadline broke down the chaos. First, Paramount has a $500 million exclusive streaming licensing deal with HBO Go, er, HBO Max, er, Max, er, HBO Max that expires on June 30th. That makes the July 9th premiere date for Season 27 seem purposeful — South Park’s entire library will now stream exclusively on Paramount+. Chris McCarthy, the Paramount Global suit who oversees Comedy Central, bragged about that exclusivity on earnings calls this month.

But wait! Paramount+ might not be the sole streaming home for South Park after all. Deadline reports ongoing behind-the-scenes talks might keep the animated comedy on HBO...

‘South Park’ Poised For Streaming Launch On Paramount+ But Will It Also Stay On HBO Max?
Image
Exclusive: Comedy Central picked a curious date for the Season 27 premiere of animated stalwart South Park after a two-year break, July 9. That is just a few days after Paramount’s $500 million exclusive streaming licensing deal with HBO Max for Trey Parker and Matt Stone’s juggernaut is set to expire on June 30, allowing the new season, along with the rest of the South Park library, to stream on Comedy Central’s Paramount sibling Paramount+.

When the date was announced last month, industry observers suspected some gamesmanship since Paramount has long been looking to bring two of its crown jewels on third-party streamers, South Park and Yellowstone, to its Paramount+ platform and in light of Paramount and HBO Max’s contentious partnership on South Park, which has resulted in a lawsuit.

Paramount Global co-ceo Chris McCarthy, who oversees Comedy Central and streaming, touted the marquee streaming addition during the company’s earnings call last week.

South Park's Creators Made A Gruesome Western That Fans Have To Check Out
Image
In 1992, when Trey Parker and Matt Stone were in their early 20s and attending the University of Colorado at Boulder, they famously assembled a very crudely animated (and gleefully profane) Christmas special called "The Spirit of Christmas." It featured a violent battle royale between Frosty the Snowman and Jesus Christ, as witnessed by a quartet of foul-mouthed youngsters. That led to Parker and Stone putting together a 3-minute live-action short, a fake trailer for a jokey flick called "Alferd Packer: The Musical." Alferd Packer, as many may know, is one of only four people in American history to be convicted for the crime of cannibalism. He confessed to having to eat his fellow comrades to survive while they were lost in the Colorado mountains in 1874. "Alferd Packer: The Musical" was a gloriously tasteless riff on Packer's crimes.

Reactions to the fake trailer were so positive that Parker and Stone...

Here’s Why Trey Parker and Matt Stone Don’t Do Projects Apart From Each Other
Image
The greatest comedy duo in the history of television will only ever work on anything if they can work on it together. Just think about it, when have you ever seen either Terrance or Phillip go solo?

When South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone were students at the University of Colorado at Boulder, they met in a film class wherein they bonded over their shared love of Monty Python and making fun of any and every race, religion, political ideology and celebrity under the sun. Before Parker and Stone even graduated, they founded their own film production company and wrote, produced, directed and starred in their very first feature-length film, Cannibal! The Musical.

Fast-forward more than 30 years, and the list of Parker and Stone’s credits in the entertainment industry is full of massively successful TV shows, a Tony Award-winning musical, a healthy handful of cult-classic comedy films and roughly zero solo projects.

Scott Tenorman From ‘South Park’ Is the Troll Webmaster of A Bonkers Anti-Woke Dating Site
Image
Isn’t it ironic that Cartman’s archnemesis owns the only platform where Cartman could ever find his Heidi replacement?

Back in 2001, Colorado-born comedian, screenwriter and political activist Toby Morton got his start in entertainment working as a production assistant on an adult-oriented animated comedy series called South Park. Thanks to his comedic talents and his vocal range, Morton quickly rose through the ranks at Trey Parker and Matt Stone’s cartoon institution as both a writer and an actor, most notably voicing the tragic ninth-grade trickster Scott Tenorman, whose family famously suffered the dire consequences from his antagonization of Eric Cartman.

Flash forward to 2025, and the real-life prank lord behind poor Scott has only formed even more elaborate schemes to torment neo-fascists after wetting his beak on scamming Cartman with a few ginger pubes. As Morton recently revealed, he is the troll owner of a fake dating site aimed at far-right singles,...

The Director of the Original ‘Lord of the Rings’ Seems to Like ‘South Park’s Parody More Than the Peter Jackson Trilogy
Image
Before it was a bladder-testing, critically-acclaimed movie franchise — and even before it was a creepy-as-Hell Finnish TV show — author J.R.R. Tolkien’s classic The Lord of the Rings series was adapted as a 1978 animated feature by Ralph Bakshi, the legendary director who helmed Fritz the Cat, Wizards, and the horniest ‘90s movie to ever get a Nintendo game tie-in for children.

Bakshi’s Lord of the Rings, which only covers the first half of the full story, is a visually arresting, highly influential film. Interestingly, as Bleeding Cool pointed out, the famed animator recently took to social media to share a side-by-side comparison of a scene from his movie and one from South Park’s 2002 Lord of the Rings parody.

South Park’s “The Return of the Fellowship of the Ring to the Two Towers” from Season Six found Cartman taking on the role of Gandalf for a Lord of the Rings...

Now That Lorde’s Back, Can ‘South Park’s Randy Marsh Handle Another Storyline?
Image
The beloved pop star Lorde has finally returned to releasing new music more than four years after we last heard her sing, “I am Lorde, yayaya,” but how does she have time to make another album when she’s busy being Karen and Elon Musk as well?

Yesterday afternoon, the world of pop music went into a frenzy when the sensitive singer-songwriter and former Colorado geologist, released a 15-second snippet of a new song on TikTok, indicating that, more than four years after the release of her most recent hit album Solar Power, a fresh Lorde album may be on the horizon. Fans of the “Royals” singer and father of two have endured an excruciating wait for more Lorde, but, given the artist’s many side hustles over the last four years, it’s understandable that Lorde hasn’t had much time for her music career, what with the constant...

Every South Park Episode Written by Bill Hader, Ranked
Image
Bill Hader continues to have a flourishing career after his most famous gig as a regular cast member on SNL. He impressed the audiences with shows like Barry and Documentary Now!. However, many fans don’t immediately connect him to South Park, the long-running Comedy Central satirical show. Hader joined the writing room of the series several times.

Fans who have seen the documentary 6 Days to Air: The Making of South Park would’ve learned that Hader was a producer on the series. Trey Parker and Matt Stone invited him to their small and insular writing staff on several episodes. It means that many of our favorite South Park episodes had the brilliance of Hader in them.

Hader and Stone first met when the former was filming Forgetting Sarah Marshall in LA. They struck up a friendship at that time,...
