Will Smith had an epic music career before he shifted his full focus to movies. He initially teamed up with DJ Jazzy Jeff in 1987 to form the duo, DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince. They won their first Grammy in 1989 for Best Rap Performance. They released five studio albums before parting ways in 1994. He then released four solo albums from 1997 to 2005. Smith has won a total of four Grammy Awards.

In 2024, he released his first solo single in nearly 20 years, You Can Make It. This year, he announced his fifth studio album, Based on a True Story, which was released on March 28, 2025.
