    • Brandon Slagle is an American filmmaker and former actor, recognized for his contributions to the action, thriller, and science fiction genres. Born on April 26, 1977, in Austin, Texas, Slagle began his creative journey as the frontman of the industrial metal band Die Section, mentored by the late Wayne Static of Static-X.

Transitioning into acting in the early 2000s, Slagle appeared in various independent films and television series, including uncredited roles in "Argo," "Grey's Anatomy," and "Dexter." His shift to directing and screenwriting marked a significant turn in his career, with his breakout film, "The Black Dahlia Haunting" (2012), setting Redbox rental records alongside titles like "The Purge" and "The Conjuring."

Slagle's directorial works include "House of Manson" (2014), a biographical film about Charles Manson; "Crossbreed" (2019), notable for casting Vivica A. Fox as the first African-American woman to portray the President of the United States in a feature film; and "Battle for Saipan" (2022), featuring actors such as Casper Van Dien and Louis Mandylor.

In 2023, he directed "The Flood," starring Nicky Whelan and Casper Van Dien, and "Affinity," marking action star Marko Zaror's first English-speaking lead role. Additionally, his film "Breakout," featuring Louis Mandylor and Brian Krause, became the most viewed action movie on Tubi.

Beyond directing, Slagle has contributed as a screenwriter to films like "3 Days in Malay" and "Operation Blood Hunt," both directed by Louis Mandylor, and co-wrote "Last Chance Motel" with Scout Taylor-Compton and Danielle Harris.

Slagle was previously married to actress and producer Devanny Pinn.

His diverse filmography and innovative storytelling continue to establish him as a notable figure in contemporary cinema.

Quotes

  • "When my producers brought up the idea of Vivica in the role, it was a lightning bolt. It was a fantastic idea. Someone who could light up a room but also has a commanding presence. Our President is positive and proactive, not the grim figure as is usually portrayed in these types of movies." - on casting [on Vivica A. Fox] in [Crossbreed (2019)].
