Quavo and Lenny Kravitz Update 1998 Hit for New Single ‘Fly’
Image
Fresh off working with Lana Del Rey on “Tough,” Quavo has collaborated with another L-named rock star, this time Lenny Kravitz, who updates his hit “Fly Away” for the new single “Fly.”

The pair, who connected earlier this year when Quavo honored Kravitz at a Black Music Collective event, also dropped a Jake Nava-directed music video for the track:

At that Bmc tribute to Kravitz, Quavo was among the artists — along with George Clinton, Earth, Wind & Fire’s Verdine White, and Andrew Watt, one of the producers on “Fly” — who performed “Fly Away,...

Beyonce Narrates ‘For Serena Williams, With Love’ Ad for Gatorade
Image
It might not be part 2, part 3 or part 5 of her new album “Renaissance,” but Beyonce has dropped a new project: During last night’s MTV Video Music Awards, Gatorade released a new commercial honoring Serena Williams narrated by the singer.

The video, directed by Jake Nava — who helmed Beyonce’s “Crazy in Love” video — was released as the tennis superstar takes to the U.S Open one last time late Monday night. Williams announced that she was “evolving away from tennis” earlier this month.

The extended version released this morning highlights Williams’ career. The “Break my Soul” singer’s narration starts, “When the world writes her down in history, we’ll begin where she started. At love.”

It continues, “It’s a love that we’ll remember through the generations, a love that started a movement, a movement to always love exactly who you are and who you can be.

Watch Ed Sheeran Join Russ in ‘Are You Entertained’ Music Video

Russ has dropped a music video for his recent single “Are You Entertained” featuring Ed Sheeran, who lent his vocals to the track.

The glossy video, which features appearances from Brenda Edwards and Tom Felton, was meant to be directed by British music mogul Jamal Edwards, who died in February. Sheeran shared the story behind the video in a lengthy Instagram post, noting that Russ first approached him last December in New York while he was out to dinner.

Where to Watch ‘Black Is King,’ Beyoncé’s ‘Lion King’-Inspired Visual Album
Image
Products featured are independently selected by our editorial team and we may earn a commission from purchases made from our links.

Leave it to Beyoncé Knowles-Carter to coordinate the release of “Black Is King” — a visual album produced across three continents and inspired by a $1.6 billion-grossing blockbuster — during a global pandemic. The multi-hyphenate star’s latest visual album is based on her soundtrack “The Lion King: The Gift,” which was released last year alongside the film.

Unlike some of the star’s past work, audiences had a month to prepare for its release on Disney+, and the “celebratory memoir” about the Black experience is now available to stream for subscribers around the world.

Artists from “The Gift” — including Jay-Z, Childish Gambino, Pharrell Williams, and African stars Wizkid, Shatta Wale, Burna Boy, Mr Eazi, Tiwa Savage, Tekno, Yemi Alade, and more — all appear in the film, and so do stars including Lupita Nyong’o,...

Beyoncé Releases Trailer for ‘Black Is King’ Visual Album on Disney Plus (Watch)
Image
Beyoncé’s latest visual album is nearly here.

On Sunday morning, the 24-time Grammy winner released a trailer for “Black Is King,” her new visual album releasing on Disney Plus on July 31.

The album is based on “The Lion King: The Gift,” the soundtrack for the classic Disney movie’s photorealistic remake that debuted last year. Beyoncé curated and executive produced the soundtrack, which featured her daughter Blue Ivy Carter, Jay-Z, Childish Gambino, Pharrell Williams, Kendrick Lamar, Tierra Whack, 070 Shake, Jessie Reyez and other artists.

“Black Is King” promises to reimagine the lessons from “The Lion King” for “today’s young kings and queens in search of their own crowns,” according to a press release.

“You, who were formed by the heat of the galaxy, what a thing to be. Both unique and familiar. To be one and the same. And still unlike any other,” Beyoncé says in mesmerizing narration throughout the trailer.

The “Single Ladies” singer enlisted directors like Terry Richardson, Todd Tourso, Jake Nava, and Hype Williams to help bring her amazing new songs into a visual realm.

Of her “visual album” concept, Knowles explained, "I see music. It's more than just what I hear. When I'm connected to something, I immediately see a visual or a series of images that are tied to a feeling or an emotion, a memory from my childhood, thoughts about life, my dreams or my fantasies. Video Of The Day: Beyoncé’s Pepsi Commercial
Beyoncé did not release her upcoming album’s first single this morning, as a 6-second teaser yesterday suggested she might. Instead she released a minute-long Pepsi commercial where she confronts her past selfs. The ad campaign is a part of her estimated $50 million dollar deal with the brand.

Directed by Jake Nava, who has previously worked with Beyoncé on videos “Crazy In Love” and “Baby Boy”, the commercial shows Beyoncé rehearsing in a dance studio space when, suddenly, the mirrors surrounding her show her reflection. She is dressed in costumes that are taken from her collection of iconic music videos. We see a range of looks taken from Beyonce’s earlier days such as Destiny’s Child hit “Bootylicious“, the iconic “Crazy In Love” and “Single Ladies“, as well as a look from a collaboration, “Beautiful Liar“. Taylor Swift at an event for 2019 Golden Globe Awards (2019)

Taylor Swift at an event for 2019 Golden Globe Awards (2019)
B.o.B's video for his hit single "Both of Us" -- featuring pop country crooner Taylor Swift -- dropped Wednesday, and it's a tribute to the hard-working everyperson. In fact, the video doesn't focus on the superstar duo for too long, as it cuts to scenes of every day people, from all walks of life, living their day-to-day lives.

The rapper and the pop star filmed the video in Nashville, where they reportedly had to battle pesky bugs and "giant" spiders on set. During one particular scene. Swift is walking through a field of flowers -- playing with one very "uncooperative" dog -- while singing the hook of the song, "I wish I was strong enough to lift not one but both of us / Someday I will be strong enough to lift not one but both of us."

In many ways the video, directed by Jake Nava, is simple.

B.o.B And Taylor Swift Release Both Of Us Music Video
B.o.B and Taylor Swift have released the official music video for their hit single Both Of Us, which is off the rapper’s newest album, Strange Clouds. The track mixes the worlds of country and hip-hop into an effective, yet somewhat fluffy song that makes for an interesting music video, directed by Jake Nava.

Swift meshes her always ear-pleasing guitar plucking with Bobby Ray’s smooth lyrics. Together, it all sounds seamless and moves at a great pace. Though the two stars rarely appear in the same shot in the video, it gives us a moving look at the less glamorous sides of Music City, USA.

Admittedly, it’s a bit restrained and some may find the clip boring, but I think it suits the song perfectly.

If you've ever wondered what would happen if B.o.B and Taylor Swift hung out together in Nashville and hired video director Jake Nava to film it, well, wonder no more. The twosome are committing their song collaboration to celluloid in the just-released clip for the rapper's track "Both of Us," which features the country-pop superstar on the hook. But if you thought the video would pay homage to the glittering honky-tonks of Nashville, think again. This video instead sheds light on the grittier sides of the country music capital, following the lyrics of the track, which center on adversity and strife. Bobby Ray and Taylor are rarely seen in the same shot, as southern Americana is the twosome's most prominent co-star.

Following in the faux footsteps of Tupac, Elvis Presley and (sort of) Freddie Mercury, the estates of other deceased legends like Jim Morrison and Jimi Hendrix are lining up to bring the artists back to the stage ... in hologram form.

In a new interview with Billboard, Doors manager (and Morrison estate-minder) Jeff Jampol said he hopes to create a "multimedia experience" featuring "lasers, lights, high-quality sound, vibrations [and] projected imagery," not to mention the band — and Morrison (who died in 1971) — in 3-D.

"We're trying to get to the point where 3-D characters will walk around," Jampol said, adding that he's been exploring the idea for nearly eight years with British director Jake Nava. "Hopefully, 'Jim Morrison' will be...

'Someone Like You' Director Jake Nava's Greatest Hits
On Thursday evening, Adele's somber — and frankly, quite stunning — "Someone Like You" video premiered, and once we had finished wiping the tears from our eyes, we quickly realized that director Jake Nava really deserves a video Oscar or something.

Not only did he deliver a video that perfectly matches the song's heartbroken, haunted feel (not an easy feat), but, whether you know it or not, the British-born Nava has also been responsible for some of the greatest pop clips in recent memory, only adding to a resume that stretches back to the early '90s (and includes work for everyone from System of a Down to the Spice Girls).

And sure, while the eye-catching clips being churned out by Lady Gaga tend to grab the headlines (since, you know, it's Gaga), what makes Nava's work so impressive is that, rarely, if ever, does he make the same video twice. In fact,...

Ashley Judd in Someone Like You (2001)
Though Adele’s “Someone Like You” has already hit the summit on Billboard’s Hot 100, the label released the video for the track today to try to satiate the endless thirst for all things Adele...and extend the life of the song, the second single from “21.” The black and white video, directed by Jake Nava, consists of one extended shot of Adele walking along the Seine in Paris, lipsyncing (badly in parts) the song. The camera stays tight on her face for much of the clip, breaking away only occasionally to show her from behind or to show the River. [More after...

Adele's 'Someone Like You' Video: Queen Of Pain
Second clip from 21 perfectly captures song's somber feel.

By James Montgomery

Adele in her video for "Someone Like You"

Never mind the fact that, in person, Adele is so bubbly she's practically effervescent. When it comes to her albums, Adele is pain personified. Alone and adrift, brokenhearted and bitter — these are emotions we all feel, but rarely do we have the courage to express them like Adele does.

And nowhere on her 21 album is that more apparent than "Someone Like You," the stirring, somber closer in which Adele goes to visit a former love (with high hopes of a reconciliation), only to discover he has not only moved on with his life, but is in a much better place. And though she's heartbroken, she puts on a brave face, stubbornly proclaiming she'll find someone just like him, even if she knows that she never will. And that...

Adele in her video for "Someone Like You"

Despite having the year's best-selling album (on both sides of the Atlantic) and two of the biggest singles in recent history (ditto on the whole transatlantic thing), Adele hasn't been a music-video machine.

Sure, her "Rolling in the Deep" clip was nominated for seven awards at last month's VMAs, but that track — much like her current smash, the stirring "Someone Like You" — became better known for its near-ubiquity on radio. And so far, it remains the only video released from her massive 21 album.

But that's about to change. Because on Thursday, at 7:56 p.m. Et/Pt on MTV, she'll unveil the second clip off the record, for "Someone Like You." And since we know you probably can't wait, we've got an exclusive sneak peek of the video now.

Beyonce Avoids Pop Star Runaway Bride Syndrome In 'Best Thing I Never Had' Video
By James Dinh

It isn’t exactly a secret that Beyoncé shies away from talking about her personal life, including her marriage to Jay-z. But that doesn’t mean the pop megastar won’t bring life’s most intimate moments to life with her music. While King B isn’t the first to head to the alter for a music video, she’s clearly one of the calmer video brides. Final Version of Kanye's 'Monster' Video Ft. Nicki Minaj and Jay-z
Almost half a year after being leaked, Kanye West's "Monster" music video has finally made its way out in its final version. Directed by Jake Nava, the clip sees the G.O.O.D Music rapper and his male featured guests Rick Ross and Jay-z in disturbing scenes with a lot of barely-clothed, occasionally-blood-soaking corpses.

While the males are around the dead in the dark scenes, one and the only female cameo Nicki Minaj is battling her Barbie alter ego instead. The femcee, wearing leather gear and equipping herself with a riding crop, straps her pink-wigged alter ego in a chair and the two are engaged in a psychological death match.

Last March, it was rumored that the video was long delayed because it had been banned by MTV. But the network denied it, saying they were simply "awaiting the edits we requested in order for the video to be suitable for broadcast.

Penned by Rich D’Ovidio (Exit Wounds), the story follows an emergency operator who must confront a killer from her past to save a young girl’s life.

Joel Schumacher jumps around in genres whether or not he succeeds, but among his best-known works are thrillers. He has struggled with no wins in the past few years to find the script – I am primarily referring to Twelve and Blood Creek – but his upcoming Trespass may not be the case; troubled Nicolas Cage is starring and it is set for release this September.

Other projects include contemporary love story Paradise Cove, with probably Kenny Ortega to direct; Ice Cube‘s Ten (Peter Cornwell is attached to direct), and rom-com One...

Around five minutes long, it opens with a shot of women in lingerie and high heels hanging from nooses.

When the camera pulls back, Rick Ross is uncovered sitting on a throne before the women with a lit cigar on hand. Throughout the clip, Yeezy himself is seen being groped by the hands of unseen women, trying to hold back a hordes of zombies, playing with two dead bodies on a bed and holding a woman's severed head.

Kanye West's 'Monster' Video Ft. Jay-z and Nicki Minaj Leaks
A highly-anticipated music video for Kanye West's single "Monster" has made its way out in its unfinished form. Featuring Rick Ross, Jay-z and Nicki Minaj, it is filled with disturbing scenes with a lot of barely-clothed, occasionally-blood-soaking corpses.

The dead are only seen around the men though as the Minaj scene sees her battling her Barbie alter ego instead. The femcee wearing leather gear and equipping herself with a riding crop straps her pink-wigged alter ego in a chair and the two are engaged in a psychological death match.

Beside preparing "Monster" music video, Kanye has also filmed visuals for his other star-studded track "All of the Lights". While "Monster" features Ross, Jigga and Minaj with Jake Nava as a director, "All of the Lights" might have a cameo from Rihanna with Hype Williams behind the lens.

After giving a drama treatment in "Runaway" mini movie, Kanye West is now moving on to horror in a music video for his star-studded single "Monster". In a short preview of the clip, the rapper is seen lying on the bed with what seems to be two lifeless females. He moves closer to one of them for a kiss and places her hand to the crotch of another body.

Captured in separate rooms of a haunting mansion, the three of them have at least one dead body with them. Rick Ross Gets Bloody In Kanye West's 'Monster' Video
Behind-the-scenes footage from upcoming clip has hit the Net.

With its swaggering, snarling production work and a roster of guest stars that includes Nicki Minaj, Rick Ross and Jay-z (rapping about Sasquatch, no less), Kanye West's "Monster" is undoubtedly one of 2010's biggest and baddest songs, so you'd probably expect the video to be equally as intense.

But we're willing to bet you never thought it would be so bloody.

And yet, judging from behind-the-scenes footage taken from the set of the "Monster" video, it looks like the clip won't shy away from getting gory. The footage, first posted in early November on YouTube, began picking up traction on Wednesday (December 1). In it, Ross is seen dressed in a velvet smoking jacket as he dines on a bloody hunk of meat while a (presumably) dead woman is sprawled out before him.

Beyoncé in her ad for Heat

Beyoncé's steamy new ad for her perfume, Heat, recently gathered some heat of its own from the U.K.'s Advertising Standards Authority — which banned the commercial from the country's daytime TV rotation because of its sexy imagery. Now the company that makes Heat is speaking out about the sanction brought against the ad, which features the singer in a skin-tight, hot-red satin minidress, touching herself and showing some skin.

In a statement from perfume maker Coty that was posted on AceShowbiz.com, the company notes that it doesn't think there's anything too explicit about the TV spot, maintaining that it is "intended to reflect the singer Beyoncé's personal 'sexy chic' style." And while Beyoncé's cleavage is exposed at certain parts of the commercial,...

Whether through her music videos or concerts, Beyoncé has always used her sex appeal as part of her pop-star allure. But is she too sexy? The U.K.'s Advertising Standards Authority thinks so. The singer's television spot for her fragrance, Heat, was recently banned from daytime rotation due to its "sexually provocative" imagery.

In a statement posted on its website, the advertising watchdog said that it has received several complaints about the spot, which was aired throughout the day during family programming and will now only be shown after 7:30 p.m. While the organization noted that the ad was unlikely to harm an older audience, it deemed the spot unsuitable for all-ages viewing. "We considered that Beyoncé's body...
