10 Best Anime That Are Even Longer Than Dragon Ball Z
Image
Anime is known for having hundreds of episodes and while some series are in the low 20s, there are others whose episode count has crossed 800. A commonly known shonen, Dragon Ball Z, is one of the longest-running series. With 291 episodes in Dragon Ball Z, it's the longest-running show in the franchise. It tells the epic tale of Son Goku and his friends defending Earth from Galactic Emperors, Cybernetic monsters, and ancient magical demons.

But Dbz isn't the longest anime in history. In fact, it doesn't come close to the top. Over 300 episodes may seem like a daunting task, but some of these anime are definitely worth it. While some carry the same epic fantasy action that the shonen genre in known for, others are iconic classics that have influenced anime's culture for years since their release.

T・P Bon Review: A Faithful yet Expanded Adaptation
Image
Manga fans were delighted when news broke that the beloved Time Patrol Bon comics would find new life through a Netflix animated series. Running from 1978 to 1986, Motoo Abiko’s strips chronicled the adventures of average teen Bon Namihira and his colleagues at the secret “Time Patrol” organization. Charged with protecting history from threats both mundane and mystical, Bon balances high-stakes missions with the friendships and hijinks of everyday school life.

Now a new generation is discovering Bon’s time-traveling exploits, thanks to animation studio Bones. Helming the adaptation is director Masahiro Ando, known for balancing whimsy and weightiness in past works like Hanasaku Iroha. Staying true to the source material’s blend of drama, action, and heart, Ando has transported fans back to 1978 with Bon and his new friend Ream Stream. The pair zigzag through eras as varied as Ancient Egypt, 19th-century America, and a desolate future Earth.

Across twelve crisp half-hour episodes,...

‘T P Bon’ Season 2 Ending Explained & Episodes (1-12) Summary: Did Bon Rescue Ream?
Image
Back in May of 2024, Netflix dropped the animated adaptation of Fujiko Fujio’s manga series, Time Patrol Bon (or T.P. Bon), and over the course of 12 episodes, the show took us on a journey through the history of humanity with Bon, Ream, and Buyoyon. Now, about a month later, Netflix has quietly released the second season of the show. And by “quietly,” I mean there wasn’t any press release or even a trailer for Time Patrol Bon Season 2—just one line on the Netflix page stating that a new season was on its way. Given the quality of the show’s animation, I am certain that Masahiro Ando and his team didn’t animate 12 more episodes in the span of a month. They probably made 24 episodes and released them in the form of two seasons. This is quite unethical, in my opinion, because it’s an ugly way of...

Image
Time travel anime like Time Patrol Bon offer imaginative explorations of temporal paradoxes and ethical dilemmas in entertaining ways. The legacy of Time Patrol Bon, like Doctor Who in England, spans generations and genres, captivating audiences with its rich history. Before Tp Bon graced screens by way of Netflix, it had already carved out a significant legacy in anime and manga. Like Doctor Who in England, Time Patrol Bon...
