Netflix Is Losing Three Major ‘Walking Dead’ Shows This August—Here’s What You Need to Know
Image
If you’re a fan of The Walking Dead world, there’s some tough news. On August 19, Netflix will remove three popular shows from its collection. All eight seasons of Fear the Walking Dead will leave the platform, along with Season 1 of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon and the only season so far of The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live.

It’s not completely clear why these shows are being taken off Netflix, but it looks like the streaming service’s deal with AMC might have ended. Other AMC shows like Dark Winds, Interview with the Vampire, and Mayfair Witches are also leaving Netflix. Oddly enough, The Walking Dead: Dead City isn’t part of this group and will stay available on Netflix for now.

Netflix has been a second home for these zombie stories since January, when the spin-offs first arrived on the streamer. Both new viewers...

Daryl & Rick’s Potential Walking Dead Reunion After 7 Years Apart Addressed By Norman Reedus
Image
Norman Reedus, star of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, has addressed the possibility of a reunion between Daryl and one of the franchise's most beloved characters: Rick Grimes. At this year's San Diego Comic-Con, it was confirmed that The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon is slated to end after season 4, with Daryl and Carol's (Melissa McBride) European journey set to continue in the next two seasons.

With Daryl Dixon seasons 3 and 4 both confirmed to be taking place in Spain, it remains to be seen how, or even if, Daryl and Carol will find their way home. As such, though fans may be holding out hope for a reunion between Daryl and The Walking Dead's leading man, Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln), there's a strong chance it won't happen. Reedus explained why he doesn't think it would be a good idea during an Sdcc interview with IGN:

After Taylor Russell's surprising departure from Michael B. Jordan's The Thomas Crown Affair due to "creative differences," the film quickly found a replacement. The cast of the highly anticipated remake has been slowly rounded out over the past few months, with the likes of Danai Gurira, Kenneth Branagh, and Lily Gladstone all cast in various roles.

Per Variety, Adria Arjona (Andor) has joined The Thomas Crown Affair reboot. Previous reports on the casting process for The Thomas Crown Affair remake detailed what was described as an "extensive" audition process involving various actors for the...

Michael B. Jordan's 'Thomas Crown Affair' Remake Adds a 'Black Panther' Co-Star
Image
According to a new report, Michael B. Jordan is looking to reunite with a former Black Panther co-star for his latest directorial effort. His return to the director's chair will be for an interesting new project: a remake of The Thomas Crown Affair, which would be the third iteration of the story. Jordan had previously directed Creed III starring himself and Jonathan Majors, making his shift to this next project feel like quite the change from his last work. The film already had some impressive cast members, but now it has just recently added another.

Black Panther 2 Director Reveals Why the Internet Is Wrong About the Sequel
Image
Ryan Coogler, writer and director of 2022’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, addressed a lingering fan narrative about the sequel—and he says the facts tell a different story. Wakanda Forever, currently available on Disney+, explores themes of loss and grief after the tragic death of Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman in 2020. The film, which stars Letitia Wright, Danai Gurira, Lupita Nyong’o, Angela Bassett, Winston Duke, Tenoch Huerta Mejía, and Dominique Thorne, has a Rotten Tomatoes score of 84%, a significant drop from the 96% posted by Black Panther in 2018.

Often viewed as Coogler’s most polarizing film, the Marvel sequel remains an outlier when compared to the Rotten Tomatoes scores of the auteur’s other films, including the critically acclaimed Sinners (97%), Creed (95%), and Fruitvale Station (94%). However, despite those and similar critical scores, the Black Panther director says the idea that Wakanda Forever was unsuccessful is an inaccurate internet narrative.

Image
Everyone has a favourite comic book movie, making it nearly impossible to decide which of them is truly best. Spider-Man 2, The Dark Knight, and Avengers: Endgame are surely all in the mix, but The New York Times may have finally given us a somewhat definitive answer.

The outlet polled more than "500 influential directors, actors and other notable names in Hollywood and around the world," asking them to choose the best movies released in the 21st Century.

That excludes Superman: The Movie, for example, but two superhero movies did manage to make it into the list. The first of those is 2018's Black Panther; it ranks at #96, and is described as follows by the site:

"There’s so much to love. It’s a superhero spectacle that actually has something important to say, about how identity, history and responsibility intersect. Wakanda, the Afrofuturistic world where the story takes place, is a visual wonder.

Why The Walking Dead: World Beyond Only Lasted Two Seasons
Image
Against the face of the obvious jokes about its name and nature, the "Walking Dead" franchise has walked, ran, and occasionally shambled along since its titular first show premiered in 2010. The horror-tinted post-apocalyptic drama has spawned so many spin-offs that /Film has a guide for the correct order to watch the "Walking Dead" shows, and there are absolutely no signs of the property stopping any time soon.

Out of the three multi-season "The Walking Dead" shows that have ended, the original enjoyed a very solid 11-season run and the first spin-off, "Fear the Walking Dead," tapped out after season 8. However, the second spin-off, "The Walking Dead: World Beyond," lasted only two seasons. The show -- which, unlike most "The Walking Dead" projects, focused on teenage characters -- ran from 2020 to 2021. While its short tenure might seem to indicate that it was a failed YA-themed experiment, "World Beyond" actually ended on its own terms.
