On the other hand there are these TV shows that release episodes on a daily/weekly basis. Similarly, we have seen quite a few international web series content release their episodes on a weekly basis.

I mean, most of the (Indian) web series that we see are released in one go (called a season). Fair enough, for, if the audience likes the content, they binge watch and feel satisfied. On the other hand there are these TV shows that release episodes on a daily/weekly basis. Similarly, we have seen quite a few international web series content release their episodes on a weekly basis.

Parambrata Chattopadhyay is the latest actor to play Oscar-winning Indian master Satyajit Ray’s detective Prodosh Chandra Mitter Aka Feluda in streamer ZEE5 Global’s series “Shabash Feluda.”

Feluda first appeared in the Ray family’s Bengali-language magazine Sandesh in 1965. Ray directed two Feluda films, “The Golden Fortress” (1974) and “The Elephant God” (1978), where the Bengali detective was played by his frequent collaborator Soumitra Chatterjee. Feluda has subsequently been played by a range of Indian actors, including Shashi Kapoor, Abir Chatterjee, Tota Roy Chowdhury, Indraneil Sengupta and Bangladesh’s Ahmed Rubel.

The detective is part of the fabric of growing up in West Bengal and Bangladesh, akin to what Sherlock Holmes, Hercule Poirot or Miss Marple used to be for several generations in the west.

He said that unlike the first instalment, this movie is based on a father-daughter relationship.

South Asian streaming service ZEE5 Global is adapting BBC drama Press as local series The Broken News, as part of a wider deal with BBC Studios.

ZEE5 and BBC Studios will work on a slate of slate of Hindi-language ZEE5 originals, beginning with a remake of Doctor Foster writer Mike Bartlett’s 2018 BBC drama.

Unlike the British original, the plot will switch from print news rooms to broadcast news companies. It will follow two rival news channels — the independent, ethical news channel Awaaz Bharati and Josh 24/7 News, which offers sensationalist and invasive journalism, and what transpires between the main characters in their quest for news.

The Broken News will also mark actor Sonali Bendre’s first streaming role, with director Vinay Waikul attached alongside the likes of Jaideep Ahlawat, Shriya Pilgaonkar and Indraneil Sengupta.

ZEE5 Global, has always presented meaningful and relevant content in many different languages and genres. Now, they have announced an addition to their list of originals, the Hindi film titled 200.

200 is a compelling narrative chronicling the oppression and injustice suffered by Dalit women and the circumstances which led them to take a drastic step.

Set in the context of atrocities against women, the film captures an incident where 200 women took law and justice in their own hands and lynched a gangster, robber, serial killer, serial rapist, in open court.

Produced by Yoodlee Films, the film production arm of Saregama and directed by Sarthak Dasgupta, 200 has an ensemble cast comprising Amol Palekar, Barun Sobti, Rinku Rajguru, Sahil Khattar, Saloni Batra, Indraneil Sengupta and Upendra Limaye.

Mumbai, Aug 29 (Ians) Actress Asha Negi loved tackling the challenges of playing a journalist recently.

Asha essays the role in the web series "Abhay 2", and she says her fans are curious to know more about her mysterious character.

"I have never played a journalist and it does need an understanding of the vigour needed to be an anchor. The character has nuances, so the challenging part was to layer the transition. I have had messages coming from all over the world asking about the mystery behind my character -- if I am playing good or evil.
