NBCUniversal is betting on emerging talent to create the next hit reality TV franchise.

The entertainment company, through its NBCU Launch brand for talent development and inclusion efforts, narrowed down six original projects as finalists for its inaugural NBCU Launch Unscripted Pitch Accelerator, TheWrap can reveal exclusively. The projects will each receive a $20,000 development deal, as well as tailored support for the creators developing their pitches for greenlight consideration at NBC, Bravo or Peacock.

Selected from more than 800 submissions, creators include Sam Blakk, Mackenzie Rohan and Jenny Gnirke (who has two projects in development), and producing duos Fernando Grostein Andrade and Fernando Siqueira, and Renier Elvir and Omar Linares.

Specific loglines for the projects are being kept under wraps during development, but span unscripted genres like character-led docusoaps, lifestyle formats, true crime series, premium documentary series and competition formats. All projects are being developed by Universal Television Alternative Studio, a division of Universal Studio Group.

Hybe Latin America has set Santos Bravos as the title of their new music project and the name of the all-male music group that emerges from the reality series.

The series will follow 16 rising Latin talents from Mexico, Colombia, Brazil, Venezuela, Argentina, Peru, Spain, and the United States as they showcase their abilities in hopes of making the cut in being part of a new Latin pop group.

Santos Bravos officially begins today with the launch of official social media platforms (@santos_bravos), where fans will be able to follow the boys’ journey from the beginning.

Reggaetón star Daddy Yankee reportedly has filed a $250 million financial mismanagement and defamation lawsuit against his ex-wife and her sister after he regained control of his music companies, El Cartel Records and Los Cangris, amid the couple’s divorce.

In the new lawsuit filed Tuesday in Puerto Rico and obtained by Billboard and the Los Angeles Times, the musician doubles down on his claim that ex-wife Mireddys González Castellanos, and her sister, Ayeicha González Castellanos, improperly withdrew $100 million from his companies’ bank accounts before the women were forced to relinquish control under a court order.

MTV’s Family Legacy documentary series pulls back the curtain and reveals the private family lives of well-known musicians. The popular docuseries is returning for a second season, streaming on Paramount+ beginning on Tuesday, March 25, 2025.

Janet Jackson has extended her Las Vegas residency at Resorts World Theatre through May 2025.

The six new dates for “Janet Jackson: Las Vegas” are slated for May 21st, 24th, 25th, 28th, 30th, and 31st, adding to a previously scheduled six-show run in February that concludes around Valentine’s Day. See the full schedule below.

Álvaro Díaz’s creative vision has felt almost prophetic the last couple of years. In 2021, he released Felicilandia, an album that twisted reggaeton into all kinds of left-leaning directions, playing with pop-punk energy, Eighties synths, and rock guitars. Then, this April, he dropped Sayonara, a continuation of Felicilandia that pushed even deeper into off-kilter, futuristic beats and styles. All along, he’s been able to find sounds that have propelled the genre forward and introduced listeners to a new alternative lane in reggaeton.

A music genre born in the barrios of Puerto Rico permeated into the mainstream and up the charts. Its story is told through Reggaeton: The Sound that Conquered the World, a new docuseries from Peacock. Executive producer and director Omar Acosta teamed up with Daddy Yankee to spotlight the cultural touchstones, evolution, and impact of Reggaeton. As with any streaming service this month, theres likely to be plenty of spooky content to sustain viewers until Halloween. Peacock is no different, although they have more than frightening shows slated for release in the coming weeks, which should be a relief to viewers who like to avoid horror offerings. While there will be plenty of scary series to watch, there will also be a plethora of other genres to enjoy.

From horror to comedy, as well as a docuseries or two, the streaming platform has various options to fulfill any viewers wants. Whether someone wants a good scare or a good laugh, Peacock has them covered next month. No matter a viewers preference, the streaming service is likely to have at least one series theyll find worth watching in October.

Nicole Pritchett and Maria Betania Fernandez run Eclectic, which has offices in LA and Miami and is focused on stories that “transcend borders, connect cultures” and start debate.

They bill Eclectic as a “bilingual” production company, with Pritchett known as a producer on the likes of Netflix’s Cocaine Cowboys: The Kings of Miami and Argentina native Fernandez working on content for broadcasters, streamers and brands in the U.S. and Latin America.

Genesis Rodriguez (The Umbrella Academy) has joined the Season 2 cast of Taylor Sheridan’s Lioness. She will portray Captain Josephina Carrillo, a dedicated soldier and skilled helicopter pilot with a fierce personality.
