The demise of E! News, which will air its final TV broadcast on Sept. 25, marks the latest nail in cable TV’s coffin.

But for a generation raised on the daily cable show’s addictive formula of breaking Hollywood headlines and marathon red carpet remotes, it signifies something much more: It’s the end of a golden age for celebrity news.

“Things are sadly just so different these days, because of how television has shifted,” notes Jason Kennedy, 43, one of E! News’ longest tenured anchors, having shared the desk with Giuliana Rancic from 2012 to 2019. “Not a lot of people come home and watch news anymore, especially on cable, because they can get it on social media.”

Like MTV News before it, which shuttered in 2023, E! News now stands as a crumbled monument to a monolithic media culture, felled by the rise of algorithms and smartphones.

A series of photos showed their infant asleep at the hospital and crying recently after her birth.

The couple held their ceremony at Epoch Estate Wines in California, according to several outlets. E! News host Jason Kennedy acted as a groomsman for Lautner.

“Surfside,” a documentary series about the 2021 collapse of Champlain Towers, is under way from director Stephanie Soechtig and former “E! News” host Jason Kennedy.

The Champlain Towers South was a 12-story condominium in Miami’s Surfside community that partially collapsed on June 24, 2021. The event resulted in the deaths of 98 people, becoming one of the deadliest structural failures in U.S. history.

The three-part documentary series will investigate the possible causes of the collapse by examining the 40-year history of the building, as well as the 2018 re-inspection process that revealed severe issues with the infrastructure that were swept under the rug. The series will feature first-hand accounts from survivors and never-before-seen footage of the event, and a recreation of a seven-minute escape through the building during the collapse.

The long-running entertainment show has become a casualty of the Coronavirus pandemic, according to Variety.

Pop of the Morning and In the Room have also been nixed at the network.

The decision to cancel the trio comes as parent company NBCUniversal is looking to “streamline its programming and restructure internally to create more efficiencies.”

All three shows were produced in New York City, but as part of the restructuring, future productions are said to return to Los Angeles.

E! News had relocated to New York in August 2019 in a shakeup that saw the series being shifted from its 7 p.m. Et perch to 7 a.m. Et.

E! News has been overhauled multiple times since it debuted in 1991.

The series had a string of big names as part of its hosting roster, including Samantha Harris (2005–2008), Jason Kennedy (2005–2019), Variety‘s Marc Malkin (2006–2017), Maria Menounos...

The revamped “E! News” has found its new hosts: Emmy-winning TV host and personality Lilliana Vazquez and Australian TV and entertainment reporter Scott Tweedie.

E! announced Thursday that Vazquez and Tweedie will be the co-hosts of its 30 Rock-based daily morning shows “E! News” at 7 a.m. Et/Pt and “Pop of the Morning” at 11 a.m. Et/Pt, premiering Monday, Jan. 6, 2020.

According to the cable channel, “Viewers will wake up with ‘E! News’ coast-to-coast as Lilliana and Scott bring them the biggest pop culture, lifestyle and entertainment stories in a fun, lighthearted and engaging way. The conversation continues on ‘Pop of the Morning’ with an unfiltered, more in-depth and irreverent look at the most talked-about news stories of the day.”
