‘Clueless’ Musical Director Has “No Interest In Being Modern,” Will Stick With 1995 Themes And Fashion
Image
1990s teen hit Clueless has been brought to the stage of London’s West End by the film’s original writer and director Amy Heckerling, who has focused on keeping the 90s theme integral to the story.

Heckerling told BBC News that she has “no interest in being modern,” and has stuck closely to the original story. The 1995 film, inspired by Jane Austen’s novel Emma and starring Alicia Silverstone as lead character Cher and took $88million at the box office. It was credited with inspiring similar teen school dramas including Mean Girls, Gossip Girl and Legally Blonde.

And she admitted neither the original film nor the musical are documents of real LA life for most citizens. Heckerling told the BBC she wished the original film had been a musical, because “”there were natural moments in the script where characters could have sung.”

Scottish singer KT Tunstall has composed an original score for the show,...

Apple Cider Vinegar soundtrack features Britney Spears, Olivia Rodrigo, and more!
Image
There's a brand new limited series on Netflix, and it's going to have you hooked. Emmy Award nominated actress Kaitlyn Dever stars in Apple Cider Vinegar, the series based on the true story of a lie told by wellness influencer Belle Gibson. When she claims she's beating her brain cancer diagnosis with nutrition and wellness rather than traditional medicine, her business booms.

Belle creates a successful app and launches a cookbook, all under the guise of having multiple cancer diagnoses that the public begins to see through. The series also centers on fellow wellness influencer Milla Blake (Alycia Debnam-Carey), whose cancer is initially managed by alternative medicine practices and ends up in competition with Belle.

Now, the events contained in the series actually happened, though like any series based on a true story, there are some creative liberties taken. However, one thing that holds true in the series is the...

If Anna Delvey’s response to being asked what she’d gleaned from her brief stint on Dancing With the Stars — “Nothing” — didn’t make clear enough how she felt about the dance competition, the convicted fraudster happily elucidated more in a new interview with NBC News.

“I feel that the show so obviously used me to drive up the ratings, that they never had any plans to give me any chance to grow and only cared about exploiting me for attention,” said Delvey in an email.

Anna Delvey: Dancing with the Stars Preyed on Me, Exploited Me!

Anna Delvey is holding nothing back in the of her elimination from Dancing with the Stars.

After getting the boot from this competition early last week, Delvey actually told NBC News that she believes she was treated unfairly by executives and producers.

“I feel that the show so obviously used me to drive up the ratings, that they never had any plans to give me any chance to grow and only cared about exploiting me for attention,” the convicted felon told this outlet last Friday.

This, of course, is especially rich coming from Anna Delvey.

As we just cited, she is a convicted felon who is currently under house arrest.

Delvey was convicted in 2019 by a New York state court of three counts of grand larceny, one count of attempted grand larceny and four counts of theft of services,...

Anna Delvey slams ‘predatory’ DWTS for using her in Season 33
Anna Delvey Sorokin
Anna Delvey spoke out after her recent elimination from Dancing with the Stars Season 33, claiming she never received a “fair chance” to win the show.

In addition, she blasted the dance competition show, claiming they used her only to get ratings.

Delvey, real name Anna Sorokin, was a controversial addition to the newest cast, attracting much backlash from viewers due to her criminal conviction, house arrest, and ongoing deportation battle.

She appeared throughout promotional content and on the dancefloor wearing her ankle bracelet monitor after U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement asked her to do so while participating in the dance competition show.

The fake heiress played up the ankle monitor, even giving it a bedazzled look to sparkle for dances.

While Delvey had many people talking, she and her professional dance partner, Ezra Sosa, only lasted the first two weeks of DWTS.

Anna Delvey Completely Disrespects ‘DWTS’ After Elimination
Image
Few Dancing With The Stars fans liked Anna Delvey when Season 33 began. But after her elimination on Oscars Night, she has even fewer people in her corner.

Throughout her short run in the competition, her partner Ezra Sosa fiercely advocated for her. He even asked his TikTok followers to offer her grace after he found her crying in the bathroom after she read mean comments online.

Now, there doesn’t seem to be much hope of a redemption for the fraudster.

Anna Delvey Couldn’t Be Less Interested In DWTS

Before DWTS Season 33 began, Anna Delvey admitted to Us Weekly she didn’t care about winning the Mirrorball Trophy. In fact, she added that she’d throw it in storage if she won.

Anna and Ezra received a 17/30 for their Quickstep to “Suddenly I See” by KT Tunstall. And although the judges said there was a lot of potential there,...

Anna Delvey Eliminated From ‘Dancing With the Stars’ After Controversial Run
Image
[This story contains spoilers from Tuesday night’s season 33, episode two of Dancing With the Stars.]

Anna Delvey’s time on Dancing With the Stars has come to an end.

The convicted fraudster and fake German heiress, real name Anna Sorokin, reportedly conned people into giving her hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash, goods and services, as documented in Jessica Pressler’s New York magazine coverage. Her exploits inspired the Netflix series Inventing Anna, in which Julia Garner played Delvey and Shonda Rhimes served as showrunner.

On Tuesday night’s second episode of this season of Dancing With the Stars, Delvey was eliminated, based on judges’ scores and viewer votes, along with Tori Spelling and her pro partner Pasha Pashkov in a double elimination.

When asked by DWTS co-host Julianne Hough what she would take away from her experience on the show, Delvey, laughing, said, “Nothing.”

Delvey and partner Ezra Sosa’s final dance, on the Oscars-themed episode, was a quick...

‘DWTS’ Anna Delvey Reportedly ‘In Tears’ Over Mean Comments
Image
Fraudster Anna Delvey seems unbothered on television. However, the situation behind the scenes might be entirely different.

Her professional dance partner Ezra Sosa recently went online and asked DWTS fans to show Delvey some grace. In fact, she was reportedly driven to tears over mean comments online.

Anna Delvey Allegedly Broke After Her Week One Performance

During premiere week, Anna Delvey and Ezra Sosa performed a Cha-cha-cha to Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso.” Although wildly unpopular with the audience, judges gave them an 18/30 for their routine.

This is Ezra’s first year as a pro dancer, so he felt over the moon for his debut with Anna Delvey. But she apparently didn’t feel the same way.

“During that whole day, it was just truly the best day ever,” Ezra shared on TikTok. “In a sense, I felt so much love from literally every single person. Including [Delvey]. On my end, I was feeling so much positivity.

‘DWTS’ Week 2: Songs & Routines For ‘Oscar Night’
Image
Season 33 of Dancing With The Stars kicked off last week. What’s next for the 13 celebs and their pro partners? Keep reading to see the full list of songs and routines for Oscar Night on DWTS.

The First Season 33 Elimination Will Be A Double Elimination

This season includes reality stars, actors, sports icons, and one very controversial contestant. DWTS fans are outraged that ABC gave convicted scammer Anna Delvey a platform by casting her on Season 33. She earned an 18 out of 30 for her Cha Cha to Sabrina Carpenter’s song “Espresso.”

Cast of DWTS Season 33 on Good Morning America from Instagram

She might be the first celebrity to go home from the popular dance competition. Last week’s scores will combine with this week’s scores, plus viewer votes to determine who stays and who goes. Two celebrities will go home this week in a shocking double elimination.

After her first DWTS performance,...

Dancing with the Stars Season 33 is about to take a hard left turn.

The season premiere aired earlier this week, and everyone stayed in the competition for the Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy for another week.

However, the second episode of the season will feature a double elimination, shifting the ballroom dynamics quite a bit.

With the cast able to perform their first performances of the season without the threat of going home the same night, the heat will be turned up, and we’ll have to watch to see whether there will be any mistakes with the increased pressure.

Losing two competitors this early in the season is a big swing, but it will be a great way to eliminate the worst performers, assuming viewers vote based on their performances alone.

Despite scoring a decent 18 out of 30 during the premiere, Anna Delvey is probably on borrowed time.

Image
When the White House Correspondents’ Association hosts its first dinner in two years on April 30, it’ll be matched by the return of another D.C. tradition: pre- and post- event receptions, dinners and brunches that have made for a weekend of socializing and schmoozing.

Among the night before parties: Funny or Die and People, which will co-sponsor a late-night fete at The Reach at the Kennedy Center. Both brands have new owners: Henry R. Munoz, III bought Funny or Die and Dotdash purchased People last year and it’s now led by now led by Leah Wyar and Liz Vaccariello. For both brands, this will be their first Whcd weekend event in several years. In 2006, People started an annual party with Time on the Friday evening before the dinner, and the event got to be known for its mix of Hollywood celebrities and White House figures, as well as a hefty swag bag.

Why ‘The Dropout’s’ Perfectly Strange Music Choices Enhance the Elizabeth Holmes Story
Image
Of all this season’s limited series based on high-profile incidents of chicanery, “The Dropout” stands out. More than Showtime’s Uber show, Apple’s WeWork show, or Netflix’s Anna Delvey show, Hulu’s look at the life and career of Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes feels as though it has a certain point-of-view on its subject. And that subject – Holmes, as played by Amanda Seyfried, and the culture that made her – finds brilliant expression in the series’ music choices, overseen by music supervisor Maggie Phillips. Rarely in recent memory has a pop soundtrack been leveraged so effectively, and so eerily, to underscore points the show is making.

Consider, for instance, a scene in which a pre-fame Holmes is waiting outside the Apple Store on the day of the iPhone’s release. Holmes, who idolized Steve Jobs, is in a giddy reverie as Feist’s “1234” plays; the song will, for a certain subset of viewers,...

Fox has canceled its original plans to broadcast New Year’s Eve Toast & Roast 2022 live in New York’s Times Square citing the surge of the Covid-19 Omicron variant, Variety reports. The network announced on Tuesday that it will instead air replacement programming.

“While we are confident in the health and safety protocols for Fox’s New Year’s Eve Toast & Roast 2022, the recent velocity of the spread of Omicron cases has made it impossible to produce a live special in Times Square that meets our standards,” Fox Entertainment said in a statement.

Record Deals Are So Yesterday. Here’s The New Playbook For Musicians On The Internet.
Image
Given the ways that the internet has fundamentally changed the music industry, creators must learn the rules of an ever-shifting landscape -- and ultimately seek to diversify their revenue streams -- to build sustainable careers.

In the latest episode of Tubefilter's investigative news show, Creator News, we take a look at these paradigm shifts through the lens of traditionally signed Scottish singer-songwriter KT Tunstall (whose 2004 album Eye To The Telescope sold 5 million copies) as well as self-described "DIY artist" Raye Zaragoza, who owns her own record label.

In the past, given the expenses involved with breaking a new artist -- including production and promotional costs -- new artists signed contracts with labels that were severely skewed. Labels typically pocketed 80% of any ensuing profits garnered by artists, Tunstall explains, with artists themselves taking home the remaining 20%. Over time, this has created a festering sense of financial exploitation -- as evidenced...
