The upcoming USA Network drama series “Anna Pigeon” has added three actors in recurring roles.

Variety has learned that Manuel Rodriguez-Saenz, Ryan Northcott, and Cooper Levy have all joined the series, which is based on the Nevada Barr novels featuring the titular character.

All three join series lead Tracy Spiridakos in the drama as well as cast member Ronnie Rowe Jr. Production on the series is currently underway in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

The actress will lead the new USA Network show Anna Pigeon in 2026, according to Deadline. It’s her first role since exiting the NBC police procedural in 2024. Blue Fox Entertainment has acquired international rights to the YA rom-com Boot Camp and will introduce the film to EFM buyers in Berlin next week.

The feature is based on the Wattpad webnovel of the same name by Gina Mush and was directed by Mackenzie Munro from Gemma Holdway’s adapted screenplay.

Blue Fox plans to show first footage on the story starring Rachel Boudwin (Dhar Mann), Drew Ray Tanner (Riverdale), and Emmanuelle Chriqui (Superman And Lois) about a young woman who signs up for summer boot camp and falls for her off-limits personal trainer.

Lindsay Macadam serves as producer.

I grew up on Hocus Pocus, Halloweentown, and Goosebumps. These gateway horrors opened up a whole new world for me. The trembling fear I endured when Carly Beth slid on that terrifying green mask still lingers with me even now. And I’ll never forget the chills I felt running down my spine when Sarah launched into “Come Little Children” or the penetrating gaze of Kalabar that seemed to cut into my soul. These images provoked something in me, conspiring to lure me into horror – and I’ve never left. I might be 30-something now, but I can still enjoy nice little gateway horror movies, especially when they’re as compelling as the Halloween-set Cobweb and The Curse of Bridge Hollow.

In Cobweb, screenwriter Chris Thomas Devlin stages an epically creepy story about a young boy named Peter (Woody Norman), whose parents Carol (Lizzy Caplan) and Mark (Antony Starr) rule with a stringent hand.

Exclusive: Canada’s Waterside Studios is developing scripted projects with an array of North American writing and production talent.

The Corus Entertainment-owned studio is currently focusing on procedurals, half-hour comedies and young adult content after launching last year. On the back of its debut teen series Geek Girl going into production for Netflix and Corus, Head of Waterside Jeff Norton revealed a trio of titles developed with the likes of writer-producers Todd Berger and Julie Dicresce, Arnie Zipursky and Jeff Detsky.

On the procedural front is Serve & Protect, a drama series co-produced with Berger and Dicresce’s December Films, which is best known for Syfy horror comedy Reginald the Vampire. Canadian novelist and screenwriter Zoe Whittall is attached to the project, which Norton billed as having “the ensemble cast of NCIS with the quick wit of Private Eyes.”

“Reginald the Vampire” producer December Films has inked a first-look deal with Cineflix Studios (“Tehran”).

The first project to come out of the deal is a new ten-part series, “Carpe Demon” from showrunner Emily Andras (“Wynonna Earp”). Based on the Julie Kenner novels of the same name, the series about a demon hunting suburban mom is in development for Paramount+ Canada.

Canada and LA-based December Films launched in 2020, founded by Julie Dicresce and Todd Berger.

The company has numerous series in productions and is in post on feature “Out Come the Wolves” for IFC Films, Altitude Films and Level Film and rom-com “Bootcamp.”

Principal photography has commenced on Adam MacDonald’s survival thriller “Out Come the Wolves.”

The feral feature, which will be shot on location in Dundas, Ontario throughout May, follows the story of a woman who takes her fiancé to a secluded cabin to meet her best male friend, before things take a dark turn during a hunting trip.

The film is represented for international by Altitude Film Sales, who will be discussing the film with buyers at the upcoming Cannes Film Market.

MacDonald’s credits include “Backcountry”, which had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival and “Pyewacket”, which also debuted at TIFF. He also directed the third and fourth seasons of “Slasher” and the upcoming season five for AMC’s Shudder. Most recently, he completed directing the first virtual reality horror movie experience for Meta entitled “Be Mine.”

USA Network/Syfy have good news for fans of killer dolls and vampires. Syfy’s Chucky will return for a third season and Reginald the Vampire has officially been renewed for season two.

The second season of Chucky was one of the top 10 drama cable series in 2022 among adults. And the network’s Reginald the Vampire starring Jacob Batalon was second among all cable dramas on Wednesdays at 10pm during its first season run.

“The cast and crew of ‘Chucky’ would like to thank fans and critics alike for their overwhelming response to season two, which we’re delighted to announce has now spurred the official greenlight on season three. This news has made Chucky very happy,” executive producer Don Mancini said in a statement Sunday.

“Thank Damballa for that because otherwise Chucky would have been frankly impossible to deal with,” he continued.

Two of NBCUniversal’s current signature thrillers will return for new seasons. USA Network/Syfy’s “Chucky” will be back for a third season, while Syfy’s “Reginald the Vampire” returns for its Season 2. The news was announced Sunday during NBCUniversal’s portion of the winter 2023 Television Critics Assn. press tour.

“Chucky,” which comes from Universal Studio Group’s UCP division, last year ranked as a top 10 cable drama in the 18-49 demo, according to the studio. A continuation of the film franchise about the killer doll, “Chucky” stars include Zackary Arthur, Björgvin Arnarson, Alyvia Alyn Lind, Jennifer Tilly, Alex Vincent, Christine Elise, Devon Sawa, Lachlan Watson, Fiona Dourif and Brad Dourif as the voice of Chucky.

Exec producers are Don Mancini, Nick Antosca, Alex Hedlund, David Kirschner and Jeff Renfroe.

Syfy has picked up new seasons of two of its horror-inflected series.

The NBCUniveral cable network has renewed Chucky, the continuation of the long-running movie franchise, for a third season, and vampire comedy Reginald the Vampire for a second. (Chucky also airs on sister channel USA Network.)

Created by Don Mancini — the mastermind of the Child’s Play movie franchise — Chucky, from Universal Studio Group’s UCP, follows the murderous, serial killer-possessed doll as he wreaks havoc on a new set of characters. The show’s second season was among the top 10 dramas in cable among adults 18-49.

Zackary Arthur, Björgvin Arnarson, Alyvia Alyn Lind and Brad Dourif (reprising his franchise role as the voice of Chucky) star in the series. A number of familiar faces from the movie series, including Jennifer Tilly, Fiona Dourif, Alex Vincent and Christine Elise, have made guest appearances.

Reginald The Vampire has tumbled into a second season at Syfy.

It comes after the comedy drama series premiered in October. The series is based on the book series by Johnny B. Truant.

The Jacob Batalon-fronted series follows Reginald Andres, who, in a world populated by beautiful, fit and vain vampires, tumbles headlong into it as an unlikely hero who will have to navigate every kind of obstacle – the girl he loves but can’t be with, a bully manager at work and the vampire chieftain who wants him dead. Fortunately, Reginald discovers he has a few unrecognized powers of his own.

A new dramedy series from film director Todd Berger (“The Curse of Bridge Hollow”) is set to be produced by Jennifer Levin and Bill Lawrence. It will center on a true-crime obsessed woman who finds a seat on a high-profile Las Vegas murder trial.

The lead character in the series titled “12 Rocks in a Box” is named Suzannah Weaver, she is “a self-described ‘Murderista’ obsessed with true crime.” The storyline — which was written by and executive produced by Berger — will follow Suzannah as she becomes a jury for an infamous murder trial in Las Vegas. However, “Suzannah soon begins to suspect that not all is as it seems with this case, and a DIY investigation leads her to believe that the killer may indeed be in the courtroom every day…and it isn’t the man on trial,” a description for the series reads.

HBO Max is developing a dramedy about a murder trial that boasts Bill Lawrence among its executive producers, Variety has learned exclusively.

It will go through the post-production process in the UK.

Directed by David Carson, the film is currently being filmed in New Zealand and Quebec, Canada, with post-production set to take place in the U.K.

Jacob Batalon addressed how playing the beloved character of Ned in Marvel’s “Spider-Man” trilogy helped inform how he approached his leading role in Syfy’s “Reginald the Vampire,” joking that he was grateful his fellow co-stars were “willing to put up with my diva-ness.”

“I think my experiences working on the ‘Spider-Man’ movies has really informed the way I operate on set in the way that I found that the easiest way for us to progress in a shoot is to make sure everyone is happy and comfortable and likes each other,” Batalon said on a panel Thursday as part of NBC Universal’s portion of the Television Critics Association summer tour.

Apple TV+ is ramping up its slate of kids and family programming for the fall.

The tech giant’s streaming service will debut four new series in the fall and offer up new seasons of five returning shows, including Ghostwriter — with an entirely new cast for its third installment — and Hello, Jack!
