‘Dragon Blade’ Review
Stars: Jackie Chan, John Cusack, Adrien Brody, Si Won Choi, Peng Lin, Mika Wang, Yang Xiao, Taili Wang, Tin Chiu Hung, Shaofeng Feng, Sharni Vinson, Sung-jun Yoo | Written and Directed by Daniel Lee

When corrupt Roman leader Tiberius arrives with a giant army to claim the Silk Road, Huo An teams up his army with an elite Legion of defected Roman soldiers led by General Lucius to protect his country and his new friends.

Dragon Blade is a film which goes on quite a journey. To begin with, you’ve got Jackie Chan and all the wacky jokes and complete badassery which follows him around. Throw in some swords, fighting, battles. Also, for the sake of it, let’s have a little musical number too. Not the dancing type, but the epic ‘everyone is singing about how great stuff is’ type. Then a splash of child murder and some more...

Fight the Fight (2011)
Directed by Ming-Sing Wong

Featuring Wah Yuen, Sammo Hung, Kam-Bo, Tin Chiu Hung, Kane Kosugi, Chia Yung Liu, Ian Powers

The older I get, the more complicated and bureaucratic life seems to become.

Interest, investments, savings and credit ratings are commonplace to life these days. I often wish I could do without them; withdraw all my money from the bank, stuff it in my mattress and go off the grid. But based on what I’ve learned from Wah Yuen’s Fight the Fight, one can never fully escape the reachings of bureaucracy, not even in a Kung Fu throwdown.

Fight the Fight begins in Thames, England, which is not actually a place. The Thames is the river that runs through London, but there is no town named Thames. It appears to be a magical place, where Jie Chen (Sammy Hung) is a really impressive flyer distributor as he whips...

Choy Lee Fut (2011) Movie Review
“Choy Lee Fut” should be cause for excitement for martial arts fans, given that it stars genre godfather Sammo Hung alongside his real life son Sammy Hung for the first time. Directed by the team of Tommy Law (whose CV includes such undeniable classics as “Wife from Hell” and “Sex Medusa”) and Jackie Chan stunt crew member Sam Wong, the film also features considerable kung fu talent in the form of Yuen Wah, another genre veteran and Chinese Opera School pupil who graduated along with Hung and Chan. Filling out the youthful cast are Kane Kosugi (who fans of 1980s action may recognise from the likes of “Nine Death of he Ninja” and “Pray for Death”, and who still looks around 20), Steven Wong (“L For Love, L For Lies”) and actress Wang Jia Yin. The film kicks off with a hilariously unconvincing series of scenes in the UK (actually the...

Proper Trailer For Martial Arts Film Choy Lee Fut
Back in mid-February, we posted a rough-cut trailer to Choy Lee Fut that stars Sammo Hung as a Kung Fu master and Sammy Hung & Kane Kosug as his students.  There were some scenes containing incomplete greenscreen effects but now a polished version has arrived with the background inserted.  Former Jackie Chan Stunt Team member Sam Wong served as co-director and fight choreographer. The story revolves around two best friends in Europe (played by real-life best friends Sammy Hung and Kane Kosugi) who love martial arts. They are Hung Gar exponents after learning the art from Hung's father (Sammo Hung). Trailer: Sammo Hung is back again in ‘Choy Lee Fut’
Not too long ago, an incomplete and unofficial trailer for the upcoming Chinese martial arts film Choy Lee Fut (aka Choy Li Fut), was released. While the trailer showed promise, it was hard to really get excited about yet another martial arts movie that seemed to rely heavily on CGI. However now that the studios have released an official full trailer, fans of action veteran Sammo Hung can book place this film on their must see list.

Official plot synopsis:

An Official Trailer and a Full Synopsis for Choy Lee Fut
Not too long ago, we got our grubby little hands on an incomplete, unofficial trailer for the upcoming Chinese martial arts flick “Choy Lee Fut” (aka “Choy Li Fut”), a film that stars Sammy Hung and his father, action veteran Sammo Hung. As cool as it is to see these guys in action, I’ve gotta admit that some of the digital effects look quite shoddy. Then again, who in their right mind watches a martial arts movie for the impressive use of CGI? It’s something I can overlook, but it’s still a little jarring. Remember that poorly-executed sequence at the beginning of “Bulletproof Monk”? Prepare to experience deja vu. All kidding aside, I do think the film has the potential to be fairly kickass, especially since Sammo Hung seems to be fairly involved with the project. Only time will tell if it all comes together like I hope it will.
