DC characters we want to see in a potential Injustice 3
Image
There are many things that DC Comics fans are longing for, but a third Injustice video game is definitely on that list. It's something we've been discussing since completing Injustice 2 and, with that having come out in 2017, it's been some time indeed.

With that in mind, let's do some more theorizing, this time about which characters could appear in Injustice 3 if it happens. To be honest, there are so many DC characters that haven't been used in the Injustice games that it would be impossible to list them all, so let's look at some of the ones that I want to see the most and the ones that fans have been clamoring over for years.

Magical characters

Let's begin by talking about the magical characters of the DC Universe, because most of them haven't received much attention in these games. While characters like Swamp Thing and Shazam were playable characters in the previous games,...

Movie Review: The Bikeriders
Image
The latest film from writer/director Jeff Nichols, the superlative narrative adaptation of a book of photos by photographer Danny Lyon titled The Bikeriders, proves to be one of the modern equivalent of iconic films such as The Wild One (1953) or Easy Rider (1969).

The film is told from the point of view of Kathy (Jodie Comer) via an ongoing interview conducted by a photo-journalist named Danny (Mike Faist) – upon whose book the film is based. Kathy’s story begins with her meeting Benny (Austin Butler) when he, and the rest of his motorcycle “club,” stop by her local bar for a drink. Immediately taken with Danny, Kathy joins him, and the club – known as the Vandals – on their quest for independence and freedom. The leader of the Vandals, Johnny (Tom Hardy), looks upon Danny as his successor. But, as the club evolves around them – much like the culture of the...

All Rights Reserved. The Bikeriders may be a work of fiction, but it’s set in a world that’s very real. It’s based on a real-life outlaw motorcycle gang that, over time, expands into criminal activities. Jodie Comer and Austin Butler head up the ensemble cast as a couple who are both members of the gang. And though their characters can sometimes be ruthless, Comer said that Butler’s demeanor was exactly the opposite. The Bikeriders: Jodie Comer and Jeff Nichols Travel Back in Time for Exclusive New Look
Image
This article appears in the new issue of Den Of Geek magazine. You can read all of our magazine stories here.

For Jeff Nichols, The Bikeriders’ long road trip began with a handful of photographs. Among them in grainy black and white was a lone figure, captured in blurred motion and with his head turned away as he zoomed across the Ohio River. The only clear details were the leathered texture of his jacket and the gleam flashing off his Harley’s steel. When discovering this image and many like it in 2003, Nichols was in no way a motorcycle connoisseur. To this day, big bikes terrify him. But he instantly knew how the pictures—taken by New Journalism legend Danny Lyon between 1963 and 1967—made him feel. And he needed to express that sensation onscreen.

“Photographs can lie to us,” Nichols says 21 years later on a sunny Texan morning. “They’re very romantic,...

Austin Butler, Norman Reedus, Michael Shannon And Tom Hardy Star In New Trailer For Jeff Nichols’s The Bikeriders
Image
Check out the brand new trailer for director Jeff Nichols’s The Bikeriders, in theaters June 21.

The film stars Jodie Comer, Austin Butler and Tom Hardy, Michael Shannon, Mike Faist with Norman Reedus.

The Bikeriders follows the rise of a midwestern motorcycle club, the Vandals. Seen through the lives of its members, the club evolves over the course of a decade from a gathering place for local outsiders into a more sinister gang, threatening the original group’s unique way of life.

Nichols and Shannon worked together on the terrific, but overlooked sci-fi film Midnight Special. Read the review here and check out our list of the 5 reasons we thought the 2016 film was one of the best of the year.

For his new film, the director has once again assembled what has come to be known as his “film family” for the shoot, a core group of behind-the-scenes talent, many...

The Bikeriders trailer takes you for a ride on the wild side with Tom Hardy and Austin Butler
Image
Austin Butler is going from blades to bikes as he goes from Dune: Part Two to the upcoming period drama, The Bikeriders. Butler revealed that his immediate start on The Bikeriders meant that he couldn’t shave his hair for Dune 2 as time was not allotted to have his hair grow back, so he’s actually wearing a prosthetic bald cap. He got to keep his blonde locks and Focus Features has now released the new trailer for The Bikeriders, which Butler stars in with Tom Hardy.

If you recall, The Bikeriders was originally set for a fall 2023 release via Disney’s Searchlight. The studio ended up selling the film (in an unusual move) to Focus, who decided to set it up as summer counter programming. This might have been a smart move as Butler is sure to come off Dune: Part Two an even bigger star than he was a few months ago.

‘The Bikeriders’ Vrooms Into the Awards Race With Austin Butler, Jodie Comer and Tom Hardy Riding Shotgun
Image
Jeff Nichols brings pure Americana to the Telluride Film Festival with his luscious period drama “The Bikeriders,” which feels like the distant older cousin of “The Outsiders.” It stands as his single best directorial outing, and in tow are a trio of invigorating performances from Austin Butler, Jodie Comer and Tom Hardy, all putting their stamp on an awards season that will be undoubtedly competitive.

Based on the 1968 photo and interview book by Danny Lyon, “The Bikeriders” tells a fictional story inspired by a Midwestern motorcycle club, seen through its members’ lives over a decade.

Read: Variety’s Awards Circuit for the latest Oscars predictions in all categories.

Nichols, who writes and directs, has carved out a special lane of talented American filmmakers who are able to wrangle honest and moving performances from the likes of Michael Shannon (“Take Shelter”) and Matthew McConaughey (“Mud”). He does it once again with his actors including Butler,...

Toni Collette and Bella Heathcote in Pieces of Her (2022)
Contains spoilers for Pieces of Her episodes one to four

Netflix’s thriller Pieces of Her is based on a novel by the aptly named best selling author Karin Slaughter. Though it’s set in America, the whole of the series was shot in Australia with the majority of filming taking place in 2021, and many of the cast are Antipodeans and Brits as well as Americans.

It’s a twisty tale of a mother who carries out an act of bravery which suddenly exposes her to a world she had long since left behind, and a daughter who discovers she really doesn’t know her mum at all. Pay attention! But in case you’re distracted by the niggling sense of ‘where do a recognise them from?’ we’re here to remind you.

Tearing through the Nevada desert in a bullet-ridden Crown Vic, wily con artist Teddy Murretto (Frank Grillo) hatches a desperate plan to hide out from lethal hitman Bob Viddick (Gerard Butler): He sucker-punches rookie officer Valerie Young (Alexis Louder) to get himself arrested and locked up in a small-town police station. Jail can’t protect Murretto for long, and Viddick schemes his own way into detention, biding his time in a nearby cell until he can complete his mission. ‘The Underground Railroad’: Barry Jenkins’ Gorgeous Journey Into American Darkness
Image
Again and again throughout Barry Jenkins’ adaptation of Colson Whitehead’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel The Underground Railroad, the Oscar-winning Moonlight director will pause the story to present a tableau of his huge cast of black characters. These shots are stunning in their composition, as if Jenkins and cinematographer James Laxton are painting an entirely different vision of American history than the one you most commonly find in textbooks and on museum walls. It’s an appropriate touch for a story that weaves in agonizingly real details from our horrible past...

Innocence (2013)
Is 'The Tale' HBO's Most Controversial Movie Ever?
Innocence (2013)
Innocence is a slippery concept: We're never conscious of possessing it, only of having lost it. That's the conceit behind writer-director Jennifer Fox's extraordinary cinematic memoir The Tale (which begins airing May 26th on HBO) – a raw, personal chronicle of the sexual abuse she sustained as a child in the 1970s. More radically, however, is how this tough-to-watch, formally daring look back (starring Laura Dern as the filmmaker's screen avatar) simultaneously details the process through which she came to recognize her experience as abuse – an epiphany arrived at gradually,...

10 Things I Hate About You: ABC Family Series Cancelled, No Season Three
The executive producer of ABC Family's 10 Things I Hate About You has confirmed that the TV show has been cancelled after two seasons. How quickly things can change.

Based on the film of the same name that starred Julia Stiles, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Heath Ledger, 10 Things I Hate About You revolves around two very different high school sisters and their friends and partners. The series features the talents of Lindsey Shaw, Meaghan Jette Martin, Ethan Peck, Nicholas Braun, Dana Davis, Larry Miller, Kyle Kaplan, Ally Maki, Chris Zylka, Jolene Purdy, Allie Gonino, and Suzy Nakamura.

The series got off to a great start in July 2009 and ABC Family touted it as the cable channel's biggest comedy debut to date. It attracted 1.6 million viewers and 734,000 in the coveted 18-49 demo. The news got even better by week four as the...

10 Things I Hate About You (Volume One) – DVD Review
1. The show tries to stay true to the original movie, and mostly succeeds.

2. Lindsey Shaw was attractive until I discovered she was from Nebraska.

3. There are times I actually did laugh, which is surprising considering I’m not the demographic.

4. However, the pop culture references do get to be a little much.

5. Meaghan Martin is still underage, and still more attractive than Lindsey Shaw only because she’s not from Nebraska.

6. Ethan Peck should have taken acting lessons from grandpa Gregory, and the only I reason I know those two are related is because Wikipedia says so.

7. Kyle Kaplan has some talent, he just needs to hone his timing.

8. Michael Braun is decent, but never quite recaptures that lovable ’80’s doofus.

9. Fans of the movie will be pleased with this adaptation, and everyone else might be pleasantly surprised with it.

10. Seriously, Lindsey Shaw was attractive until I discovered she was from Nebraska.

Set Visit: Go Back to High School with 10 Things I Hate About You - Part I
The 1999 film 10 Things I Hate About You was one of a popular spate of teen films that hit theaters right before the new millennium and now, 10 years later, the film is getting new life on the small screen. ABC Family will be premiering the TV version of 10 Things I Hate About You on Tuesday, July 7 at 8 Pm Et and I was recently given the opportunity to visit the set and chat with the cast of this new series. Before the other reporters and I headed out to Santa Clarita Studios, we met at the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood to have breakfast with one of the cast members who wasn't filming that day, Ethan Peck, who plays the mysterious Patrick Verona, a character which the late Heath Ledger portrayed in what turned out to be his breakthrough role. Here's what Peck had to say during our chat.

Five in for '10 Things'
Lindsey Shaw
ABC Family has assembled the main cast of its high school comedy pilot "10 Things I Hate About You," an adaptation of the 1999 feature that in turn was based on William Shakespeare's "The Taming of the Shrew."

Ethan Peck (grandson of Gregory Peck), Lindsey Shaw, Meaghan Jette Martin, Kyle Kaplan and Nicholas Braun have been tapped to star in the pilot, which revolves around two sisters -- strong-willed feminist Kat (Shaw) and social butterfly Bianca (Martin) -- facing the challenges of starting at a new high school.

Braun will play schoolmate Cameron, who is smitten with Bianca. Kaplan, repped by Greene & Associates and manager Michael Abrams, will play his friend Michael. Peck will play the dark and mysterious Patrick, a student who intrigues and bothers Kat from a distance.

In the movie, Kat and Patrick were played by Julia Stiles and Heath Ledger in his breakthrough performance. Michael was played by David Krumholtz.
