It's About Time: Sonic the Hedgehog Just Set Up the Return of Shadow's Greatest Villain
Image
Shadow fans should pay attention, because the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise is hinting at the long-awaited return of a major villain from the antihero's past. 2024 was a great year for Shadow, featuring him prominently in both the video game and film mediums, but he didn't make as strong of an impression in Idw Publishing's comics. Luckily, Shadow's upcoming series intends to fix that by spotlighting him and - by the looks of it - his greatest enemy.

Sonic the Hedgehog: Chasing Shadows #1 by Kiel Phegley and Jonathan Gray will follow Shadow the Hedgehog as he embarks on a solo adventure. The official cover art has been unveiled, drawn by Nathalie Fourdraine, and it includes a clever clue about what Shadow's journey holds.

Shadow is pictured alongside a bed of flowers, but these flowers aren't as unassuming as they seem. They bear a striking resemblance to Doom's Eye, an entity...

Fans of Shadow the Hedgehog have a lot to celebrate this year, as his central role in the Sonic the Hedgehog 3 film put him in the spotlight. Now, to go along with his theatrical debut, Shadow is set to get his own solo comic from Idw Comics. With Shadow's popularity at an all-time high, the comic may only be a taste of what is in store.

Sonic the Hedgehog: Chasing Shadows #1 – written by Kiel Phegley, with art by Jonathan Gray – will hit shelves in March 2025, courtesy of Idw Publishing, with the one-shot comic set to include mystery, adventure, and plenty of action, hitting all the high notes of Shadow's character and possibly paving the way for future projects.

Idw Comics has announced plans to release a one-shot comic for Shadow the Hedgehog, set to release in March 2025. Though Idw has a rich history with Sonic, Shadow, and their crew,...

Meet Matt Dillon, Slow Filmmaker: Documentary ‘The Great Fellove’ Was Worth the Wait

Most people know Matt Dillon as an actor who grew up in front of the cameras. He won two Indie Spirit Awards for “Drugstore Cowboy” and for “Crash;” that one also yielded a Supporting Actor Oscar nomination. The surrounding region has also become more active in terms of film and TV production in recent years, adding multiple new soundstages.

Quinn will receive the festival’s 2021 Honorary Trailblazer Award. Before Covid-19 turned the 2020 edition into a hybrid affair with drive-ins and online screenings, Quinn had been scheduled to get the award last year, on the heels of Neon’s triumph with Parasite. Known for making character-driven projects that touch on taboo subjects under their Yulari Films banner, Barash and Shatz created, produced and directed the Netflix docuseries “Lenox Hill,” which takes an intimate look at the lives of four doctors working at the renowned New York City hospital.

In his review of the medical documentary series, which launched in June 2020, Variety’s Daniel D’Addario ranked the series among the best shows released in early 2020.

“What’s so striking about ‘Lenox Hill’ is the way it shows the excitement and the stress of the utterly quotidian.” D’Addario said, noting the show filmed eight of nine episodes before the Covid-19 pandemic, but launched during it. “It depicts a seemingly well-funded, competently staffed hospital in which the best of times are still grindingly tough, and introduces four characters whose...

Cherry Trailer Reunites Tom Holland with the Russo Brothers on Apple TV+
Image
The first trailer for Cherry has arrived. The Russo Brothers teased the upcoming movie last week with a clip, which featured Tom Holland signing up for the military. There are elements of that clip in the trailer, but it all starts to blur as Cherry begins to fulfill his nightmarish future premonitions. "You get a taste of Holland's incredible performance in the movie and the range that he displays as an actor," Joe Russo says. "I think you're seeing him transform from a teen actor into an adult actor." Cherry will premiere in select theaters starting on February 26th, before streaming on Apple TV+ on March 12th.

This Apple TV+ original follows the wild journey of a disenfranchised young man from Ohio who meets the love of his life, only to risk losing her through a series of bad decisions and challenging life circumstances. Inspired by the best-selling novel of the same name,...

Tom Holland in Cherry (2021)
‘Cherry’ Trailer: Tom Holland Breaks Bad and Shows His Dark Side in Russo Brothers’ Latest (Video)
Tom Holland in Cherry (2021)
In his new film “Cherry,” Tom Holland has gone from Spider-Man to finally breaking bad, showing a tougher, darker side than the perky chatterbox that is Peter Parker.

The first trailer for “Cherry” — which reunites Holland with “Avengers” directors the Russo Brothers — shows him robbing banks, but doing so calmly and even politely.

“I’m 23 years old, and sometimes I wonder if life is wasted on me,” Holland says in the trailer. “My greatest accomplishment is not dying.”

“Cherry” is based on Nico Walker’s 2018 novel of the same name. The story follows a young man from Ohio who drops out of college to serve in Iraq as an Army medic, only to return home with a serious case of Ptsd that spirals into drug addiction. Surrounded by other depraved misfits and draining his finances, he turns to robbing banks in order to fuel his bad habits, slowly alienating his true love along the way.

Tom Holland Battles Addiction and Ptsd in ‘Cherry’ Trailer
Image
Tom Holland takes on the role of an addict forced to rob banks to pay off his debt in trailer for “Cherry,” which dropped Thursday.

The film is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, who are from Cleveland, Ohio — the same place where Holland’s character is from. With a serious theme of drug addiction at the center of the crime drama, the Russos hope to shine a light on the impact of the opioid crisis.

“It’s a very emotionally important movie for us. That part of the country has been designated ground zero for the opioid crisis,” Joe Russo said in a Q&a with Inverse. “We’ve had a lot of people we were very close to die because of the crisis. We felt that it was a story that needed to be told and the luxury of coming off of movies like ‘Infinity War’ and ‘Endgame...
